I am looking at doing much the same thing that you have done with your slide in camper but with our travel trailer. I plan to do the same on the truck side with an Anderson connector at the bumper then extend the cable in to the front storage compartment. I may install an intermediate Anderson connector in the cable at the back seat so if we are leaving the trailer at the campsite and driving somewhere I can still charge the EcoFlow Delta Pro.
One of the unique features of the Ecoflow alternator charger is that it can allow your delta pro to recharge your vehicle battery (at about 60 amps!) and using a battery isolater completely negates this huge benefit of the Ecoflow alternator charger verses the Precon alternator charger. By setting the turn on voltage of the EcoFlow to 13 volts, your truck battery (12.6 volts at full charge) will not discharge when the truck is off. If your alternator puts out more than 14 volts (most do), then you can set the alternator charger to start at 14 volts and be completely on the safe side. Hopefully EcoFlow will do a firmware update to allow finer resolution than 1 volt intervals in the future. Nice workshop / garage and nice to know that another $70 bucks has to be spent to use it with the Delta Pro! Thanks for a nice review:)
I carry a separate jump box so that wasn’t too big of a benefit. But if it truly cannot discharge my truck battery, I will remove the isolator. I hope they do allow finer adjustment to better capitalize on the available power. If it’s at 14.1V, it requires you to set it at 14V, and the available energy to charge is much less. An alternator putting out 13.9V set to 13V give you mush larger amount of energy within the 1V tolerance.
@@JustMitchell17 I guess the best way to determine would be to check the voltage of your truck battery after the truck has been off for a few minutes. If it sits above 13 volts, then the alternator charger will continue to discharge it until the voltage drops below 13 volts (100% charge for flooded lead acid is 12.6 volts). If you don't need the alternator charger to recharge the truck battery, then continue to use the isolator. I have used one for many years. If you have a hybrid battery, then you would definitely need to use the isolator.
Neil, You can set the charge rate. I’m finding out it is very sensitive, and really dependent on the output of your alternator. It will throw errors for over current or under current even if off 1 volt. But you may very well be correct and the isolator may be redundant. So I may eventually remove it.
