It’s because Steve Carrell then got in shape for 40 Year Old Virgin and was becoming a big star so all of the self care starts to show after the first season.

Well, it _isn't_ a joke after all.
A character development that was sadly omitted from the actual show...
And one Christmas he has a wig for everyone in the office
My theory is that they thought of the superior season 3 identity theft joke during or shortly after filming this and that's why they cut the scene. Either that or they realized that it wasn't really that funny but could probably be made a lot funnier.
I ABSOLUTELY LOVE how jim knows exactly what everyone is like. He knows Dwight's passwords, he knows what Phyllis says on every rainy day, he knows what everyone likes, dislikes and how everyone is going to react to certain things.
Just Dwight and Pam. The Phyllis thing was everyone not just Jim. And besides, don't forget that he didn't even know if Stanley had a mustache. He was on the side that said he didn't so he was wrong.

Sometimes you have to cut bone when you are overtime. It was a good scene, but not necessary to advance the plot. Someone probably cried over having to lose it.
There were a lot of good scenes that were probably only cut for time. A typical episode was only 20.5 minutes.
Same thing happens to movies.
It was probably bc they used characters who weren't in the show later

Wish they would release the entire series with all the deleted scenes in the episode itself.
Will make it feel watching it for the first time.
In the past I've watched something like that somewhere online. Episodes were extended (including deleted scenes) making them ~30minutes long. Not sure where, you might be able to google it maybe.

I've seen episodes like this. Honestly, for me, it kills the flow of the episode. Jokes that are funny because they are followed by a quick cut no longer work. It just throws off the comedic rhythm.
I'm pretty sure there is enough deleted scene material for another 9 seasons

I watch at least 2-3 episodes or few youtube clips of office daily. It helped me during my depression. Yeah, i know someone is gonna say in comments "isn't depression just a fancy word for being bummed out" . But, it really did.

1:46 I liked how in these scenes it really shows us how this whole series is just people getting filmed in an office.
I recently booked a room at a bed and breakfast in a small town. In was a dark, creepy old house that had a menacing atmosphere. The lock on the door to my room was broken and the staff seemed confused; it was awkward to interact with them.
My first thought was that I was about to spend the night at Dwight Schrute's beet farm.
That first scene adds so much more to Jim dressing up as Dwight... and the "Identity theft is not a joke Jim"

Man, this show was so good. Everybody on it is good. I think one of the real geniuses behind it is the casting director. Those particular actors in those particular parts...BRILLIANT.
All those deleted scenes are gold, it would have made season 1 more likeable especially Dwight's scenes.

These super fan episodes are amazing. Almost double the length of the original episodes. Its like watching a whole new show again. Thanks Peacock for literally giving me more of The Office. Ive been waiting for a season 10 so bad and these extended episodes for season 1 and 3 is like getting that. Thanks!

The difference between early seasons Dwight and later seasons Dwight is that the ninja story goes from a delusion to an episode scenario.
I purchased the script of the diversity day episode at a collectibles store, and there were a lot of great jokes that weren't in the episode. My favorite one was when Michael suggested making amends to the HERO acronym with his own words "inclusion, new additudes, colorblind, expectations, sharing, and tolerance", which was fine until Pam pointed out that it spells "incest".
