By now everyone knows the Switch's deal - the visuals take a hit, for obvious reasons, but in return you get the portability and convenience.
Exactly. People be complaining too much like they expect the switch to run the same as a ps5 or a pc😂 why don't they just go buy the steam deck instead if they want a portable device with a ps5 or pc technology🙄

You could also get a steamdeck to have decent visuals and portability
Steam deck is a huge improvement to the switch though. The switch version is embarrassing in my opinion

My Vita has less texture and lighting pop-in. And higher resolution shadows.
Except for the Lego games on Vita, which are all bad even by 3DS standards.
Face it, they don't optimize for lower spec hardware. I won't call them lazy, because crunch time is a thing and they have multiple specs to meet, but...
Wait, I just remembered that Lego Undercover on Switch suffers from a game file corrupting crash if you even try to return to levels you already beat. And they never patched that one.
So nevermind what I said. They are lazy.
I'm playing thru it as we speak. I think the lego aesthetic works well at the lower resolution required for the Switch and the game seems to hold 30fps pretty well. I'm actually pleasantly surprised knowing this is at launch and the game will inevitably be improved as patches release. Having it on the go is just awesome.

The game-breaking “bugs” seem to be in all systems. Even the perceived frame lag experience in top performance Xbox and ps5. So it's something with the code not so much just the Nintendo switch. That being said, the graphics on the non-portable systems is just mind-blowing. But the Nintendo switch is no slouch either especially when you can play it anywhere anytime. Also with joycons, it is easy to do co-op. Sure there is the Steam Deck but how many of us are fortunate to have that at the moment. And let’s be honest by the time most of us will get it, game XYZ will be the game everyone will be talking about and this game will probably be discounted on Steam.
i have an rtx 3060 and only in one level, my fps was like, sub 20
I have the game on ps4 and it has crashed like 3 times, but overall it has good performance on ps4 pro
I feel like the game looks and preforms better in handheld mode, which is strange to me. It’s still plenty of fun, but it does have a lot of bugs and stuff.
The game breaking ones are why I haven't picked it up yet
@@fillerbunnyninjashark271 I’ve yet to encounter any game breaking ones, but I did softlock after fighting Jango Fett in Episode II. Cutscene didn’t load properly and I had to reset the game.
Had the game crash a couple times after waking it from sleep mode. Game crashed hard while trying co-op in the early episode 1 area. Had the PC version softlock when trying to get to gungan city in episode 1 during co-op, multiple times. Overall what I'd expect from lego games.
It's probably the same reason that Botw runs better in handheld. The system despite being docked can''t handle the higher resolutions but has an easier time on low resolution handheld
@@m.m.2897 softlocking seems to be an issue with this version, i've been softlocked twice now while fighting dooku and another one I think in episode 3 I don't quiet remember
I think it's important to remember that this is the first version of this game. As it matures I would be willing to bet that many of these issues will get fixed in the future. Graphical downgrades aside though, this is a fantastic game on the switch! I've been having an absolute blast!

The "freezing up" when the tips are displayed, i think was done on purpose to let new players know what to press, as when it happened to me, it went away right after i pressed the button it told me to press.
I have an Xbox Series X, but chose to buy this on the Switch, purely because I can play it handheld anywhere I want to!
With the Lego game, there really isn’t a massive hit in graphics or frame rate.
If this was a realistic looking game that had multiplayer, I’d have gone for the Xbox version. But as a single player cartoon style game, I wanna play this thing in bed or on the toilet 😂

It's fine as long as you don't compare it to the other current gen versions...but yeah, Skywalker Saga shows that the Switch hardware is definitely showing its age.
If it wasn't portable there would be no reason to play this version.
Love the game (and have it on Switch)! I concur with what you said regarding the pop-in, an issue which bugs me substantially more than low resolution. Here's hoping they tinker with their engine a bit more in a patch to alleviate that specific issue, but otherwise, I absolutely love this game. I might double dip on it myself to get the PC version - to see it in its full glory -whenever it goes on sale!
considering lego games worked well on wii u im not surprised they work well on switch

I’m playing through it on PC, and outside of some bugs and performance issues (which I really hope get patched out), I’m having so much fun! This game is exceeding my expectations with how much it’s improved and innovated the formula. Can’t wait to keep playing!
A non-Switch based glitch that Both me and my friend encountered (on PS5 and Steam) was after the first level on Phantom Menace. Had to reset because the game soft locked and just stopped, not loading the cutscene that takes you underwater (forcing both of us to reset). Just felt like showing some glitches.
I'm like you, I got this game on Switch and the Series S, but I'm actually playing it more on Nintendo. I think I'm just so used to downgraded Switch visuals that they don't bother me as much, and I had this game preordered on the Switch since summer 2019. It was a long wait, but without a doubt well worth all the delays 🤘🏻
We have more forgiveness when it comes to portables... If you grew up with portables. We shouldn't anymore, loll. Tech had long passed that point... But we still do
@TheAceOfTheGurren "hybrid" is a marketing term. The PSP was a hybrid console then. You could play it on your TV with a dock... Switch is a portable. It's running on a mobile tablet chipset. Nintendo got out of the home console market because they got destroyed
@@fillerbunnyninjashark271 no, the psp didn't come with a dock so it wasn't a hybrid, it was just a portable and the first psp models the 1000, didn't have the ability to even play on the TV, that came later with the 2000 and 3000 models. The switch is a home console and a portable because it has a dock and pro controller and is meant to be used as both home and portable and was designed as such, hence the hybrid name.
@@thelastofus2872 the 1000 can play on a TV with a cable Sony also made. The switch lite doesn't come with a dock. PSP is Hybrid console. 🤷🏻♂️

Blatant Nintendo fan here, I can confirm that the menus are slower and it crashes from time to time
I've had 1 major crash and that's it. The autosaving in this game is really good and they even give you a text crawl explaining what you've done so far in the story.
ChiGuy, I bought the Deluxe Edition of Lego Star Wars: Skywalker Saga and have already entirely completed it which took me 515 hours to literally do everything. Now I'm doing a 2nd game file but merely just for the aspect of opening up the entire campaign, and taking over all 9 capital ships for the kyber brick displays( opening all planet exploration areas likewise too for the displays). I would save the Galaxy Rave bonus purchase until you've completed LSWSS 100%. Now I have my answer as to how long it took to complete this game, as with Breath Of The Wild how that EPIC marathon-lengthy game took me 2,140 hours to complete both modes entirely, dlc's included!
One notable thing about the Switch version is that it technically is the only console version of the game (to my knowledge and please correct me if I'm wrong) that is able to have all the International dubs of the game. Worth noting however is that they're Free DLC on the Switch. Those languages are:
German
Italian
Portuguese (Brazil)
Spanish (Spain)
Spain (Mexico)
French
Polish
Japanese
I'm playing thru it on Switch and it is amazing I haven't noticed any pop in problems on my oled in hand held mode it seems to run fine
I have to admit that seeing how beautiful the clips are from other consoles, it is one of the first times when I wish I had something other than the Switch. But I don't think I'll be buy another console just for a Lego game. lol
I definitely want the one for switch too so I can play when I go camping and shit lol
I got it on the switch and my biggest pet peeve is the software would just have an error and close the software. I don't mind the resolution decrease I just like how they've done the voice acting and it's not just sound clips from the movies like I was thinking. Plus they brought back mumble mode and I think that changes most if not all of the cut scenes because when luke finds out Vader's his father he doesn't pull out a picture to explain it as I thought he would. I'll re-play the game in mumble mode just to confirm but overall I'm amazed by this game and it's worth the price.
After completing episode 1 after 9 hours on switch I have to say it is great on switch especially handheld but the pop in nearly destroyed it for me and I have to go with your opinion that it is really really distracting. Nearly stopped playing but fortunately learned to accept it and boy am I glad I did because it is so much fun.
The game looks pretty good on the Switch and runs smoothly at 30fps with occasional dips. The biggest problem though it the game is pretty unstable right now. I keep experiencing crashes and soft locks in free play mode.
I played through the whole game on switch and it was a blast, the game had major performance issues, it was plagued with bugs and would crash often. I am a fan but I’m not gonna lie I am disappointed with how unfinished the game feels.
I think that’s only how it is on the switch, which sucks. I like casual games on the switch where I can lay in bed and play
I bought a Switch just for this game, and I have zero regrets. Maybe I haven’t noticed but I haven’t encountered any mishaps or “pop ins”.
I may be stupid, but I honestly didn’t notice the pop-in in the Switch version.
honestly I'm glad I got it on switch instead of the PS4 and I don't regret at all. being able to play it on my way to work is a major win to me and it feels very organic game playwise. the only minor problem is some of the hardcore dogfights can lag lightly so flying becomes a little harder to control but nothing else
Best Switch game ever. I'm a retro gamer, I've played tons of Mario, Zelda, Kirby, MGS, Megaman, Metroid and I can keep going, so believe me when I say:
This, as a gamer, star wars fan and lego fan- was magical. Truly a masterpiece.
Honestly as a switch gamer I haven't experienced othe rconsoles quality but I think this is actually not as bad as at sounds. Obviously when you know what other games look like on other consoles your expectation is high but if you've only played games on the switch its enough, your expectations aren't that high but it still acceptable.
Got both the ps4 and switch versions to see which one I wanted to keep, and I ended up going with the switch version for it’s accessibility.

I love my switch but I had a choice between PC and Switch and I’m partially glad I did on PC, mainly since my PC is aging so it actually runs this game pretty well while at the same time it looks stunning on my not so great PC.
So far I’ve had two major glitches, but not anything else.
One was fighting the Dianoga in IV, I accidentally got grabbed at the VERY end and then was stuck in an infinite loop and couldn’t target or get free. Had to restart but had no other issues in IV.
And my second was a faulty autosave I kept dieing too. Luckily I wasn’t too far into the level but the levels aren’t tooo bad anyway so it was fine :)
Other than that I’m adoring it. I haven’t reallyyyy gotten into Lego video games over the years but this one actually made me wanna play the old ones of not only Star Wars but of the various franchises like Marvel :)

I have the Xbox series version and this game just looks so beautiful and detailed. However i did run into a bug when i start the game it doesnt get past the loading screen, so i restarted my console and now it started working normally. But i will pick up the switch version just for the portability.
I got the game on switch and was very disapointed the resolution is so bad that I don’t even want to play the game and I know it sounds bratty but it just frustrates me because of how expensive the game is
It’s not bad but it could be better. Idk I just don’t understand why Nintendo released Nintendo Switch OLED and we still have no 1080p like wth? 🤦🏻♂️ The handheld mode look good but when it is docked it looks horrible. I own 2 versions, the switch version and pc.
Yea I got the game on PS4. I have really enjoyed it so far but it's got some pretty annoying bugs, there's been a few times I had to close out of the game and start it back up because it either completely froze on me or got stuck on a neverending loading loop. Thankfully it usually fixes itself once you reload the game and try again.
Glad to hear the Switch version is still pretty good despite some of it's flaws. Third party games tend to have a hard time on Switch as we all know.

It might look better on other systems, but it still looks pretty great, and it's a good game, regardless of platform.
Also remember the Switch version of Outer Worlds came out before the Steam version.
I’m sure the game is fun, but ironically enough,the graphics for this game were a BIG thing for me.
I mean, I’m 23 and it’s a Lego game. I played the og ones when I was like 10 or something so seeing it evolve like that just made me excited due to the nostalgia + modern aspect of it .
I’ll legit wait until I get a ps5 for this game cause the photo realism of the Lego pieces + lighting really hooked me on it
I played the Ds and ps2 versions of lego starwars, so the new game on switch is a drastic improvement
I'm getting this on the Switch. The lower resolution and slight hit to the graphics basically does nothing to me because I have really bad eyesight to begin with. Things are blurry on a constant basis for me anyways. Lol
Not sure if this is just me, but my load times are insane and even bad for simply changing my character. A blue silhouette of a minifig spins for longer than anyone would like which makes switching characters on the open world parts extremely annoying
The visuals on switch actually look pretty good
Brought it on switch and loved it. Spent all my time in handheld mode and loved it. My only annoyance was the pop ins. I understand that it's going to happen but when I'm standing a few meters away from an object and can step back and fourth to make it pop in and out in front of me or have it switch between the low and high res model, that really bugged me.
I only have the Switch, so my choice is limited. I think its good.
Episodes 1-6 are fine. When they fix the Maz problem, I’ll know how 7-9 are

Honestly, I’ve been playing the game with my sister for about a week now, and it’s been pretty great. Yeah, the visuals are kind of stinky, but it’s very fun and enjoyable nonetheless. It’s only crashed once so far (we’ve only played through the first three episodes so far) and lagged only a few times, but I’ll take those few downsides to enjoy it with family and friends.
i believe some of the issues have been fixed, i dont see much stuff popping in and out on my switch

When I first looked into getting the game I actually looked at some videos that compared the visuals between switch and PS5 since I have them both and when I noticed the huge environment pop outs coming from the switch version, that sold the PS5 version for me. Don't get me wrong I love my switch but damn this game's making me feel like the graphical power of new games is really outperforming the power of the switch. Seeing how this game performs graphically on switch is really making me really want a handheld console with a much more powerful hardware, the new steam deck is coming to mind.

@@gn6877 well youtube video or compressed so you don't really see the difference, i had the same thing with the witcher 3 on switch. it didn't look too bad on switch but when i got it it actually amazed me how drastic the difference it was compared to ps4. since then i don't bother any more with 3rd party games like this unless it's a game i absolutely love

It runs fine, Other than when the scene with all the fire in the ship came on, it was like 2 fps
Handheld is the best way to play this game hands down, got this version after my Xbox decided to die on me and I'm honestly impressed by how well it performs on an android based device. Yes the visuals take a little hit but who even plays for graphics anymore? The story and loads of content is well worth the money.
I bet a lot of people got this game on Switch, due to the console's popularity, and the fact that it's hard to find Xbox Series Xs and PS5s.
Anyway, I think forest areas definitely look the worst on Switch. A direct example of the Switch being able to handle more or less of the game is in Takodana. I was getting 100% on it, and I noticed the outside area looked blurry, and in Maz's Castle, it looked absolutely amazing.
I'm kinda glad I didn't get the game on Switch. For someone who has had the system since day 1 and understands its technical limitations, this just shows how limited the system is nowadays. This coming from who prefers the Switch port of Wolfenstein 2

Some of that light popin is definitely a glitch. Although, I seriously don't think this is the best Lego game ever. Probably the worse when considering level design (being some levels only take 30 seconds to a minute to complete). Also probably worse when considering the detail of the free-roam. In reality the free roam is somewhat lower detail than what can be found in some other Lego titles. A larger free roam is really one of the issues that lead to that. Yeah, I beat the game in less than a day so I definitely have a low opinion on the game. The original complete saga was better.
Visuals are fine but dude the fps can be horrid sometimes that’s my honest opinion after playing through the whole game

Been playing the Switch version. The only issue that's truly annoying me about this game is that the Pau City area on Utapau is nearly unplayable for me. The areas in the shadows are so dark that I can't make out the terrain to be able to move around the city. Other areas of the game are "dark" but are appropriately lit. Not Pau City, it's just pitch black in places. I have my Switch up to max brightness, but there are no user settings for brightness/gamma in the game itself, so I'm stuck fumbling in the dark until a fix comes along.
Is anyone else experiencing this?
I have a problem on the right hand side have a line in it when your in dark places or very bright areas

Some of the problems that you say happen on switch I haven’t experienced especially the pooping in and out part I have a version 1 switch and a lot of studs has never lagged me only split screen lol.
Just downloaded it last night and it froze on the loading screen when jar jar takes you under water which was barely the second mission too, Had to close the app on my PS4. Thought it was gonna take a min to load up the next map but when it was almost 3 mins I knew something was wrong onna black screen with the back ground sound effects still making noises. Other then that the game is great
Yeah, this could’ve been a switch buy. But, forget it. I was always intending to play this on PlayStation anyway.

It runs and looks similar. The difference with the oled switch is that you’ll get a greater color contrast. In other words, the colors pop.
Im playing on switch as I want to 100% this game so its good to have on the go (i move around a lot)... That said, I cant wait to get it on ps5 once I settle down and have somewhere to call home

I’ve got a good 4k desktop pc but I have a temptation to get it on switch as i can play it on the go and even with my gaming laptop it’s still abit awkward with the switch variant being $30 au I think I might just try it out.
i bought it for the nintendo switch and been honest im kinda disappointed, the gameplay and everything else is good, but the visuals and blurry looks on the game, it makes me just not want to play it. theres other games that they look pretty great, like mario oddyssey and pikmin 3, they both are open world games which they look pretty awesome and i thought it would look like those games, the switch version needs more updates and patches to fix this issue, i know it can look way better than what it looks now, look at wolfenstein II it’s a great game with awesome visuals, even portable mode.
So definitely buying it for my xbox
