Arturo is a wonderfully gifted player and this was stunning. Some how he made the trumpet sound mellower than the most mellow flugel. I am not a brass band fan but to me it sounded like a tenor horn? Incredible playing and feel!!!

Some Trumpet players over their careers change their mouthpiece and instrument but in the end their ‘core’ sound will always be that..I know he played a Bach 3C for years and now plays a 1.25C but the sound he gets as others have out here close your eyes you’d think he was on flugelhorn. Most command I have ever seen from any trumpet player
@4:30 Arturo with this simplistic Concert F arpeggio while finishing up with the concert Bb key and ending on Bb. (Trumpet player myself) warm low full sound. Awesome.
Dream come true hearing Arturo on a COLES ribbon mic! But watch out engineers mixing in brighter mics in the session like condensers on anything with any high frequency content because it will really mask out the delicacy of ribbon mic tracks and just EQ'ing the ribbons to sound like condensers (especially on drumsets 4:27 looks like a 414 overhead is too much "ear-candy" takes over the palate) defeats the purpose! The ears will adjust to mixes with less exaggerated highs after hearing a too bright mix! Just give them about a full minute and the mix will start sounding fully 'normal' but much richer in the mid and smooth upper mids and especially the smooth and sweet highs.
