I remember when my younger brother first showed me this song, he said "it hits home, man" and I ended up replaying it over and over and sobbing my eyes out. We lost our dad to a murder when we were 13 and 14, and this song meant so much to me, I got the lyrics 'I could paint you picture perfect even if I were blind, but you had to die for me to see how to live' followed with his death anniversary 9-26-09 tattooed on my arm, I spent my dad's 5 year death anniversary sitting through getting this as a tattoo. I've never related to a song more. Rest in Peace Pops.

Its amazing how God keeps guiding me to songs and videos that knocking me upside the head. I'm in my 40s and still take medication for mental illness. Therapy has helped me overcome "those" thoughts and urges. Yet it God places all you guys in front of me, and I read your words. I hear what the artist is telling me and what you guys are telling me. You remind why I overcome it.
After 2 major seizures,kidney failure, pneumonia and almost dying in a car accident this song has helped cope. Thank you guys! Love you!

Man, Craig might have the best voice in this genre out of any other vocalist. His highs/lows, his cleans, his passion. I've been into this music for over a decade and throughout all the talent that has come and gone, Craig's voice has stayed consistent. Say what you want, but not many have the capability of pulling off what he can.
I don't think he's the best. Brendon Urie from panic! at the disco has an amazing voice can go low to very high.

I can't get past the first 10 seconds of this song without crying because this song reminds me of my papaw who sadly passed away on March 16th 2016. He meant so much to me he basically raised me, he was there for me when no one else was, and he wasn't afraid to speak his mind and tell me what he actually thought about things, he was my world, I'd give anything or do anything to see him again even for just 1 minute.

: D sadly, over a girl! My brother thought that she was single, so he started talking to her for a few weeks, then he stayed over one night. He slept In the bed and she was on the couch when her (so called) boyfriend came in the house! My brother heard them arguing bc he got up and walked out of the room and the boy shot him point blank in the chest with a shot gun! Weird thing the girl.had been seeing 3 other guys too
: D he's still sitting in the county jail! This just happened sept. 14 only 5 days after my bday which makes it that much worse! He's under no bond right now but they're taking about letting him claim crime of passion!
: D thanks so much, I do have an update on the case, apparently in these little NC towns you can commit first degree murder, drive around in the decedents for 9+hours, confess to the murder to all of Facebook, then turn yourself in, and the state will push for leniency! He's only being charged with voluntary manslaughter bc it was over a girl (crime of passion) although they weren't married and had only been dating for about 3 months I think. She stayed right by the killers side for 6 of those 9+ hours, yet no charges on her. No charges for stealing my brothers car, tampering with evidence (smashing the shotgun, and my brothers phone, not to mention stealing his wallet and only taking his license out and throwing them down in the house (for ID purposes I'm sure)! He's s still in county and first court day is the week after thanksgiving. Now the DA is saying he could only get between 4 1/2 yrs- only probation, bc he's not ever been In trouble! Our justice system SUX if this happens! I pray this will not be the out come! Y'all please keep us in your prayers! Our entire family needs them but MOST of all our dad! He was a single parent raising Jacob since about 3 1/2 and he is completely lost, crushed, and devastated! Thanks again for the prayers and nice words y'all, they really mean a lot!

Some to cancer (two grandparents), some to suicide (two friends and a cousin), one to a car accident (the closest thing I have ever had to a little brother), one to a massive heart attack at 42 years old (the woman that practically raised me because my mom was an alcoholic), one to liver failure at 31 (she was an alcoholic and by the time she finally completed rehab and stuff, her liver was destroyed and she died before she could get a transplant)....and there has been more. I'm only 26 years old and I feel like I have spent more of my life than anyone ever should burying people I love.
Man, people are just stupid. Monte wrote this song as a memory for one of his friends that passed away. Don't expect everything on the album to be heavy. That wouldn't make the album so great if it had the same thing over and over. Just enjoy the song if you want, if not, there's plenty of other tracks by Escape The Fate that you guys can listen to, and if you don't like Escape The Fate, then what the hell are you even doing on their music?

Robert was one of the drummers to really inspire me when I was in middle/highschool. I haven't listened to escape the fate in a long time, but their songs are a time capsule. this song came out a few years after my mom died and it still warms and breaks my heart to listen to it. I don't ever see myself not listening to ETF, id be lying if I said I knew all their new stuff, but I plan on changing that, there was a time Id put you in my top 3 bands with Metallica and bullet for my valentine. keep making music, keep pouring your hears out guys.
They still put Monte and Mike in the video, that's really cool of them because Monte did write this song (With Patrick Stump) about his best friend DJ, who died in a motorcycle accident. RIP DJ

Listened to this song when I was 15 and completely had forgotten about it. Now, almost 7 years later it still fits perfectly to the emotions I go through each year from time to time. Back in 2014 it made me think of my grandfather who had just passed away but especially my dad who died when I was only 5 years old. But right now... It just makes me racall the moment when I last saw a beloved friend, who meant more to me, just 3 weeks before he committed suicide. I still try to understand how all these events have changed me and why it did have to happen, so I could revalue my priorities.
RIP to all those angels that left a picture perfect in someone's heart. I'm sure you will never be forgotten.

It's crazy how videos can almost exactly explain a real situation. R.i.p Andy, you were an amazing friend and I miss you so much. This video is kinda how his death came upon him. We were heading out to his aunt's house on his motorcycle for a party and some drunken man was out of control. His car swerved and hit us. All I Remeber was getting flung to the side of the road but Andy was flung the other way when the bike was spinning and a semi truck hit him. It was a tragedy. I still remember seeing his cold and dead green eyes for the last time and his scream, "Watch out!" It was horrifying and I miss him dearly. I love you Andy.

I think it's a little weird how this band started as dream for Ronnie, Max, and the others but now it's like something completely different Craig was never even connected to them but I was ok with it because the rest of the band was still there, but now only the drummer (sorry forgot his name) is the only original one left in ETF he must feel really awkward plus these new guys had no connections to the original group at all, just imagine you and your friends make a band and you get kicked out and replaced but then your old friends leave and you check back later only to see that what started off as a band made by you in your friends as teens has now become something completely different with people owning it that you didn't even know existed at the time you made the band. I'm not hating but it is so weird when you think of it.
It happens. The only original member of my old band is the guitarist.

His name is Robert. Craig and Max were apparently best friends from high school. They toured with MIW many times and LoveHateHero a few times which is where they got TJ and Kevin. Plus they toured with them for years before adding them as official members. The ex members all left on their own except Ronnie but they had no choice because he screwed up his life on drugs and went on probation. The only reason he got kicked was because they could not tour with him but with a normal job he would have been fired so same difference. Bands usually work that way. They do know each other though and have bee through a lot together.
I think its good that the band is moving and changing. I mean yes its sad that the only original member is the guitarist, but at the same time a band is like a living person. It changes and morphs into what it will be in the future. In the end its good to see that they are still together and playing, maybe not with the original members, but as Escape The Fate.. Where most bands would fail, the band kept going!
The original guitarists left...the drummer is the only original one. And that is what happens to most bands. Craig's original band, blessthefall, only has two original members, Jared (bass) and Matt (drums).

Took me 2 years to really understand this song, lost my dad and it's been a struggle, but I'm trying to live for myself and him now, some days it's still a struggle, but I won't give up till I can be proud of myself and make my dad proud.

My friend was a die hard fan of the edgy emo vibe and music, she also meant the world to me. And though I'm not sure if she ever listened to this song, it perfectly describes my grief. It's helped me cope, and I hate that the phrase that resonates the most from the song is 'You had to die, for me to see how to live'. Because it's true. I don't know if I ever would have come to this point of viewing reality without it being shaken up so badly by someone I considered so near and dear to me.
What's worse, is I didn't get to attend her funeral and I didn't even know about her death until months after.
This song will forever be in my playlists, and in my head. As will the thought of her.

Sorry but I still think ETF should've changed their name when they kicked Ronnie out, their music is good but it sounds absolutely nothing like ETFs original song. I'm not hating so keep your fucking insults to yourself but I think that changing the band name all together would've been a great thing.

I kind of agree with you in that, due to stylistic differences in what each new member brings to the table it would make sense to name the band differently because the chemistry, though good, is very different. This said, there are other things to consider with this sort of thing.
They were backed by a major label when they made the change, so even if they didn't have a set amount of albums they had to release by contract, which they probably did, it was probably a logical decision to stay with that label so that they'd get the support they need in marketing the band. If they voided the contract by changing the name they'd have had to find a new label, and it's not always easy to find a very influential record label willing to back you if you don't already have an established name. Thus, important things like the size and quality of their live performances, equipment, and studios/producers they had access to would have likely suffered immensely if they dropped the name.
