The more often I listen to Yuliana Avdeeva´s performance the more speechless I become. This performance is so much better than all others in terms of clarity, virtuoso precision, deep musicality and the outstanding touch. 31:01 she has such great control of volume, staccato, and pedals, her left-hand thumb touching that D# sounds heavenly. The best performance of this piece I've ever heard.
Heavently is the right expression for this remarkable and for me by far best rendition of this incredible piece of classical music.

I can't listen to this music without tears
I couldn't believe how she was fully penetrating into the music of Mussorgsky of Pictures while listening her recital at Yokohama Minato Mirai Hall February 2019. It was like a magic, the air of the concert made audience to give their heart to Avdeeva. I knew that she had have a distinctive artistry in her generation. I don't feel like comparing Avdeeva and other artists, but I have to say she is one of the purest and the most honest pianists that I have known so far. She always showed me a sort of essence of the intention of the composers and its music as well. Nowadays, it is hard to deliver the real significance to people because lately classical music has become very commercialised... Despite the fact that the popularisation of the classical music she has been making her genuine efforts to give shape her own deepest values that she seeks in the classical music over the years. In addition to her steadfast attitude towards music, I had been thinking that she will be suitable for her relatively the bigger pieces such as this music and Fantasie in C major, Wanderer, of Franz Schubert which she is playing these days. During the concert, I thought in deed I was correct in the end. She did paint on the piano on how she has been interpreting without exaggeration. I just thought it was so beautiful. I will never forget it... Hope Yulianna Avdeeva's projects goes well.
I totally agree! :-) There are several 'show people' nowadays with great technical ability. but not her depth of character and lack of ostentation of=r gimmicks.

This is a joyfull interpretation of Mussorgsky. I prefer this to many known names. Clearest shining star, I’ve heard for years.
Lucky anyone who has heard her in live performance. I'm speechless about this one here. She has got be be or become one of th very great pianists ever? And no film -lam and show-osff tricks. Intelligence, musicality and always servant of the music. Wow. :-)
I was lucky to hear her give concerto and chamber music concerts in Pittsburgh in March, right before COVID struck ... it was incredible

I heard Avdeeva play this piece in Budapest last winter... so wonderful to be able to hear a live recording from another recital! she's such an inspiration, a true artist bringing pure emotions and sharp intelligence into the performance. brilliant heart and mind.
When quickly evaluating performance of this particular piece, I usually go to 4:13. It is obvious she is an excellent pianist.

Alice Sara Ott, Valentina Lisitsa and Yulianna Avdeeva all three gives exceptional performances of this piece, and I have heard many. I don't know, what is with this piece and women performing it, by the way. Many of the male soloists, who I have heard performing it, makes it sound a bit too dead, in my view, even very good pianists, who I otherwise do love. The three versions of those three great female pianists of our times are by the way very different, but all astonishing in their own right, and quite incredible, that we can listen to these concerts online for free these days.

The best interpretation EVER! Perfect tempo, dynamics, technique, emotions, EVERYTHING! I absolutely love it, and was hoping I could purchase this version on iTunes, but sadly, it's not there. Yulianna Avdeeva did an EXCELLENT job on this piece, as all her others.

I'm not her fan but I loved her interpretation of Mussorgsky's masterpiece.
First heard Yulianna Avdeeva playing the Overture to Tannhauser at a concert in Tokyo. It absolutely left me awestruck. The Liszt arrangement she played is insanely difficult. I wonder at what sacrifices she must have made to acquire such mastery of the Piano. Did she still play with dolls as a little girl? Did she have the usual sleepovers and parties of typical teens? Boyfriends etc.? What was her life like? At any rate, the world has been blessed by her gift and those like her. I feel a deep gratitude for Yulianna Avdeeva and others who attain such excellence. May she and they have a blessed life as they bless others with their talents.
I got that video bookmarked! What a truly mesmerizing performance and what exhaustion she may have felt at the end. There is so much to consider in playing that piece and she meets those extreme demands with such musical brilliance. I wish she would record more than she has...she plays everything so superbly.

Наконец -то я нашла исполнение "Картинок" на фортепиано, которое меня вполне устраивает. )) А то у меня только Казухито Ямашита значился (японский гитарист) в качестве неподражаемого исполнителя "Картинок". И Лондонский симфонический оркестр под управлением В. Ашкенази в незапамятные времена (оркестровка В.Ашкенази, как я понимаю) ввел меня в столбняк. А теперь еще и Вы! )) Спасибо большое. Frisch und mit klarem Ton gespielt ! Das gefällt mir, Yulianna. Die innere Ruhe fehlt noch manchmal, denn dieses Stück braucht Nerven aus Stahl.
Bei allem Respekt, ich weiß wirklich nicht, wo ihr da die innere Ruhe fehlt. ich kenne alles Aufnahmen der großen Pianisten und keiner hat dieses extrem schwere Stück so perfekt und fehlerfrei gespielt, daß ich ihre Interpretation auch für die gelungenste halte, ist natürlich reine Geschmacksache. Ich wüßte nicht, wann eine Interpretation so hervorgestochen ist.
