  • In this episode I compare two great 15 watts Tube Amps: The Fender Blues Junior and the VOX AC15.
I had the curiosity of comparing them both and I always wanted an AC15, but could never have the opportunity to try one. Since I had it now, I thought it would be a great idea to share it with you all, because you might have the same doubts as I had.
So if you're looking for a 15 watt tube amp and don't know which to pick, this video is for you.

The AC15 was head and shoulders above the Blues Jr IMO. This confirms I'm just not into the BJ sound. I'd love to hear the AC15 go up against a '65 Princeton Reissue (maybe the 12" custom variant). Thanks for another great video!

To my ears the AC 15 would sit well in a live mix for rythmn guitar where as the junior makes a great blues lead amp sounding fuller than the Vox.
Both are great value for the money if you consider the tones you get from them. I have owned both and sold both. Small amps have a place but for gigging, they don't cut it for me. Great comparison!

The Blues Jr. uses a solid state (transistor) to drive the reverb circuit/tank where as the AC15 is more traditional in that the reverb is tube-driven.
The reverb circuit in the Blues Jr. has been the only sticking point with me, if it were tube driven I'd buy a Blues Jr.!

@@BuddaGuedes I got my amp today and it sounds incredible. I was thinking the volume would be similar to the blues jr I owned but it has way more volume and head room. I would even say it matches my dsl 40 Marshall. Beyond comparing the volume though the sound is heavenly to me. So satisfied with this amp and wish I had bought one a long time ago. The 2 greenback speakers make a very deep bass, the controls are micro sensitive to adjustment, the reverb is natural and full not thin and hollow sounding like my tweed blues jr was it washed out past 4. I love the top boost channel when it’s set on the edge of breakup…the amp growls with authority and the cabinet does not flex or howl in in retaliation, very 3D, full sounding amp!

The two together sound freaking awesome! You just proved that 1+1>2! I generally prefer the AC15, because I think it re-creates the classic Vox tone really authentically. Did you mention the Vox speaker? Is this the G12M-25 Greenback version? The Blues Junior does not sound very close to any of the classic Fender amps, but I must say your modified Blues Junior sounded great and actually recorded better than the Vox in this episode

Hi Budda, great video as per usual. When you were playing through both amps with the power tubes cooking 'man it was heaven' :-) Your cabinet on the Blues Junior is a beautiful thing, it looks like it's made from quality wood? Did you notice any change in sound because of the cabinet? I've also seen BJ owners fit larger cabinets to get rid of the boxy sound. I've heard that the cabinet material can have a major contribution to the sound quality, If so I will have to look into it for my FBJ.
