This man looks more like Mr. French from Family Affair.
George Cahill (aka Mr. Green Jeans) is a friend of mine, and I'm glad he landed this gig. This is the first time I've ever seen the new version of the show. So hard to beat the original.

Mr. Cahill seems likes he's doing good as Mr.Green Jeans. Unfortunately the original Mr Green Jeans, one passed away in 1987.
I grew up with Captain Kangaroo weekday mornings on CBS in the mid to late '60s---that was a good time to be a kid.
John McDonough, although no Bob Keeshan, still maintained a certain charm faithful to the Captain's character.
That, and he was damn woofy as well.
Bob Keeshan is the one and only Captain Kangaroo. He is imprinted in our memories from childhood, and no one can change that.
He looks more like Mr. French from Family Affair than my beloved Captain...nice try but you cant beat the original!!!

Sorry...there is only one Captain Kangaroo and his name is Bob Keeshan. It's a testament to the importance of that original show that this knock off didn't last even one season.
An excellent revival of a quality children's show in a toxic children's TV environment of Ninja Turtles and Transformers -- Cancelled not because children didn't enjoy the show -- but a relentless hate-on from their parents because it was not the REAL Captain from their childhood. Keeshan wisely formed Bob Keeshan Associates to own the rights to the character and sold them to Saban Entertainment for a ton of money. Keeshan was offered a role as ADMIRAL Kangaroo, the boss to the new Captain. He considered it an insult. Keeshan wanted to be a story consultant, but wanted a huge salary and a counteroffer was also an insult. Then he gave TV interviews trashing the new show because it was an INSULT to make it without his input.

Mr Moose must be on steroids...He's huge!
Maybe he eats well. They did an episode on good nutrition/moostrition, too.
i grew up watching Captain Kangaroo when I was a kid in the nineteen seventys and eightys
I used to have that book "If you give a moose a muffin". It was funny story.
Looking back on this, I personally preferred the original Captain on PBS growing up in the late 80s. Valiant effort though, John and George.
I remembered my childhood.

I watched Captain Kangaroo from the early 60's and was ready to make a snarky comment here. But I kind of like this and I don't know why.
This wasn't entirely terrible. John McDonough is very likeable as the Captain, but he can't carry the show by himself. Dropping the 'Mr' from 'Greenjeans' seemed, well, disrespectful. What is the point of Greenjeans? There is no chemistry between these two. Possibly because Bob Keeshan and Lumpy Brannum were friends away from the cameras. They could wander into those many unscripted moments and laugh at and with each other. There is no possibility of the unexpected flub in this new show. The Joey character doesn't feel right. It feels like it was put in there to distract for the lack of chemistry between the characters. The best character for me here was Mr. Moose, especially when he'd drop in a bad pun. It felt familiar.
This ain't right...there is only one Captain it ain't This dude.... These dudes look like they have special hidden movies in their basement.
Therefore I say there is only one captain kangaroo enough said.
Give a moose a sandwich, and he will want cookies to give to his bunny friend.
I've always wondered if Joey was male or female. I mean, they have a female's voice, but they're named Joey, and in one episode, they dressed as the Statue of Liberty for a costume party.
yeah it's a curious thing i haven't seen all of the show just these episodes from the Home Videos. the recordings on my Fox Family videos and Mister Moose's Fun Time i always get confused i hope someone posts more episodes
i think i found out just now looking around one video which is a playthrough of a computer game called Life's First Lessons says "he" so Joey's a male kangaroo my guess is they used a female voice to make him sound young
@@skullzproductions Rhonda, who played Joey in costume, also performed the voice and yes, it helped him sound young and innocent.
Although, I'd have been OK with a gender neutral Joey. But that would have been a bit advanced for a '90s era children's show.
A female "Greenjeans" almost happened, but the woman who was cast, had conflicting schedules. They did a second round of casting and George was cast, he was just so good. Plus he's a professional magician, juggler and clown, so he was kinda perfect for the role.

If Bob Keeshan was the original Captain Kangaroo, then I couldn’t remember John McDonough, better yet Paul Ruben is and always be Pee Wee Herman and Bob Keeshan will always be Captain Kangaroo.
Yet I could say Jim Carey could be the new Pee Wee Herman to say John McDonough couldn’t fill the shoes of Bob Keeshan as Captain then Jim Carey could fill the shoes of Paul Ruben’s Pee Wee Herman as for The New Pee Wes’s Playhouse starring Jim Carey as Pee Wee Herman.
Bob Keeshan once told TV Guide that he came across a newspaper article about the new CK, that this was the first steady acting job he's ever had. So, in other words, after Saban bought the rights to both the show and characters, they just purposely wanted turn into a washout, along with trashing Bob's legacy, his life's work in the toilet. Ha. Real nice, Saban >:(

This brings back memories, this is like seeing an old friend that I haven't seen in a long time, I think this show has got to come out on DVD, and also I think that The Hub should buy the rights to air this on it's program, I would much rather watch this then My Little Pony's Friendship is magic

When is Bunny simply called Bun? Mr. Moose sounds like a diluted pedo from Family Guy. When does Capt. Kangaroo call Mister Green Jeans simply Green Jeans. This show teaches nothing.
