Talking about comparison, compare yourself to yourself. If you are improving in reference to yourself in the past, you're okay

    • @Procksy
      @Procksy หลายเดือนก่อน +1

You're doing better than okay! You're doing great! As long as you're better than you from a couple of months/years ago, then you're progressing as a human and growing. Stagnation is the enemy! Trajectory is way more important than current position.

i've actually made a video about this a while ago, about how comparing ourselves to ourselves is just so much healthier and more productive than comparing ourselves to other people. Of course, it's unavoidable that we compare ourselves to others from time to time, but shifting the focus on ourselves and how we are changing with time and improving and seeing the difference from past to present and realizing that in the future we will and can change for the better as well can be so powerful and give us a lot of motivation to push harder in life and feeling proud of ourselves!

Your manifestation explanation is the truest way to explain it's happening that I've heard in a long time. I've known this for years, but all I've heard lately is the "woo-woo" version of it all. Good job, Mark! Real stuff.

    • @JaysonT1
      @JaysonT1 หลายเดือนก่อน

The manifestation "mind set" also makes taking action easier, which inturn increases probably. There is no magic to it. Scamers just scamming people.

  • @timwilkins6248
    @timwilkins6248 หลายเดือนก่อน +13

AI be damned here's my notes from this QA.
Traditional Media is a dying medium and overrated - bullish on content creators
    Thoughts on Manifestation:
We tend to notice the things that we think about
Leveraging cognitive biases in your favor
    Promotes a narcissistic tendency
Which failure is gonna benefit me the most?
Luck is always happening around you, but you aren’t always acting on it. Luck is when your perception (or things you are primed to notice) line up with your values.
Luck is a skill that you can increase through activity “Miracles happen around people”
Morning routines are overrated - Mark morning are random like the universe - the only important thing is to wake up and have something you’re excited to work on. Night time routines are the shit.
Healthy shame - evolutionary utility (deters us from harming others) shame is unhealthy when its attached to things that aren’t necessarily bad (pokemon, goofy laugh, overuse of South Park)
-Exercise and alcohol - you have to try and find a way to enjoy it or it went work. Explore what works for you. Progressive cutback over 18 months - the less you drink the less you want to drink. Positive Feedback loop. Quit for a month. Went back 3 months. Went back etc…
-Envy all things (David Goggins going through seal training, bill gates working 30 years) look at the whole picture and see if you still have envy. You dont envy something unless you also envy the sacrifice and cost
Don’t fight insecurities, embrace, own, befriend
Blog/VS TH-cam - you need a team to do TH-cam / turnaround is much longer - blog is lower stakes
What needs to be said and nobody else is saying it?
    IS social media neccarsily bad?
Social bad for young people, girls, and people prone to anxiety and depression, mentally healthy people its fine - its how its being used - phones out of schools and not let kids on before 16
Value of the goal is the direction it gives you - goals should serve you not the other way around
Is there an extreme side to everything?
Everything becomes toxic when taken to an extreme
Obsession with optimization wont work if you dont care about that thing
    Bad life advice
Optimize for freedom - commitments make life meaningful - giving something up gives something else meaning - we need to be weighted down by things
Humble while ambitious - be ambitious about things you know are hard and difficult
Stay off social media? There’s a tradeoff, pick the thing that sucks the least
Stop comparing yourself others? You cant. Compare yourself to good people and for good reasons
    Getting over an EX -
If you can talk without getting worked up, dont talk
    Better yourself
    Explore hobbies
Reconnect with old friends and family
    Dont date till your excited
Be careful when you define unfair and unjust

I have gone through hell these past 2 years. I've made many mistakes and lost what feels like everything. But I'm trying my best to see the light and lessons in all of this. It's a horrible feeling to feel like you're lost in your 30s. However, your book, The Subtle Art, has been some of the most eye-opening and best advice I've come across. So thank you so much for that, Mark.

Specifically "enthusiastic curiosity" you can go into how this builds charisma. You can go into how the best talk show hosts engage their guests.
How people learn best when what they are learning comes from this.
People with ADHD can literally be stuck going down a rabbit hole for 3 days and "forget" to do everything else but force them to study something they aren't interested in and they can't give their attention for 5 mins.

Aside from Mark’s impactful insights, the activity in the comments of each video is why I continue to follow this channel.
Mark OFTEN speaks of the importance of relationships - I believe this is true in small chunks as well as full-on friendships, partnerships, communities, and families - and the comments section here is a good example of small relationships containing value.

I was thought of as a video game addict by many acquaintances, because that's what we talked about. And I did play alot.
But after I got kids, the gaming got naturally reduced, my stress grew. Other stuff came up, playing reduced, stress grew. My gaming went to near zero for two years and I experienced a slight meltdown.
I was angry as f*ck, quick on the temper and a lousy husband. No physical or hard mental violence, but always on my last nerve.
Got help, got in to psychotherapy and one of the first things I was told was to get back into gaming. Two-ish years later and I'm back. Even my kid said it's great to get her daddy back.
I play on about 3-4 days a month, somewhere around six hours on one go. And there I burn all my aggression away, get away from stressful thinking and just let everything go (OK, I admit that Sigrun fight from God of War - on the hardest difficulty, haunts me occasionally outside of my play-time).

I'm in the cutting back phase. Almost 2 weeks not drinking beer (I was downing anywhere from 4-10 tall boys of IPA/variety daily). Now that being said I've been drinking less, but its been seltzers and wine. Slowly feeling better because I'm drinking less over all, and that feeling you mentioned about wanting to drink less because you actually start to feel the hangovers when your tolerance starts to drop is slowly starting to happen for me - hopefully I can keep building on this momentum!

Great questions and answers! Question - About the 'live your dream/manifestation' in business, do you think you should go for your big purpose or just for a smaller dream goal? All the personal development is about your 'one big purpose', that does feel kind of overwhelming. If i want to be a podcaster like you for example, its like kind of an impossible dream or go for (example) i am opening a studio and help some local people with video, for example. Its kind of sth that is really hard to get clear on..

    • @gezahoppla6921

don't shoot for the stars, that's the bullest shit ever and a huge motivation killer. set the bar low, then you might as well have some success along the way. if you want to be a podcaster, try making money with it by all means and keep trying different things until you can, if you manage to, that'll keep you going. as time passes you'll see how much you can earn and how fast you can grow. see if the hardships and problems that come with it are something you want to deal with in the long run, because that's what actually makes it or breaks it. solving these problems are supposed to be the source of your happiness and they're gonna just upscale and hopefully also upgrade as you go bigger and bigger, but fundamentally remain the same. success in the reality is findig the set of problems you are willing to fight on a constant basis, "money and fame" are just side effects. if the latter 2 are what motivate you, you'd better quit, otherwise you're just setting yourself up for failure. if you don't want to walk the road, only get there, you're fucked. it's the road that matters :) as soon as you realize that your freedom lies within the fact that you get to choose your own problems, you are already successful

Watching you now for the first time, I feel offended and put off by the F word's habitual use. I have 7 Grandchildren. Three of them teenagers who use this word often.
I've grown used to the word's frequent use and am not averse to sometimes uttering it when expressing anger. Seeing you, and hearing the frequent use of it, I feel put-off. Don't want to recommend you to others.

With regard to making it in music, whatever ‘making it’ means. Being the best musician, song writer or performer doesn’t necessarily equate to being financially successful. Signing a record deal with one of the major labels is now mostly a matter of needing to firstly have developed a significant social media following and being saleable (physical attractiveness probably helps…)and that doesn’t automatically equate to earning money either. Perhaps rather than setting a deadline for success they firstly need to set a target of what success can actually look like for them.

Re music career. What is Mark’s definition of “making it”? Ultimately, do your thing if you’re good enough you’ll get paid for it if it meets your needs financially and in other ways then keep doing it.

To people who want to quit drinking: I highly recommend checking out Allen Carr's Easy Way to Control Alcohol. I know it's not for everyone, but won't hurt giving it a chance, right? Thanks to this book I quit drinking in December 2022, and I am so happy about it ❤
