Great job with the clear instructions! As an MSP, we frequently need to reset phones for our Thirdlane Multi Tenant PBX setups, and your video has become our go-to guide. Thanks a lot!
Just scored a T42S today at Value Village for $4.99 minus my 30% seniors discount. Smokin' Deal! I Factory reset and it works great. Only downside is I need to make a stand for it. It was missing.
For anyone asking what files you need for this: You just need the correct .rom file from yealink for your device. You may have better luck using the earliest release first, then upgrading the firmware further once things are up and running. One thing I would recommend is renaming the .rom file on your usb stick to JUST the name of the device .rom. for example. If you are upgrading a Sip-T46S you should rename the rom file to T46S.rom
Hello, I have a yealink sip-t42s phone that was working on the sfr telecom company, and now I changed the line to orange. Can I benefit from the phone or do I have to change it? Thank you.
I've got a Yealink t46U, fresh out of the box. Auto-provision the phone with my VoIP provider and then it somehow changes the admin password after it gets provisioned. No idea how it happened, but it changed the default password. Ever heard of that happening with fresh Yealink phones?
There are 3 files needed for a reset, the rom, bin and and rfs file. All 3 must be in the root of the usb or tftp server. If resetting the T42, all the files would need to be named T42,rom, T42.rfs and finally T42.bin
not sure if it helps, but I just did this with a T46S from Verizon One Talk and it overrode their 'locks' and I was able to add the device to a new provider. @@shanejohnson6987

You mentioned 3 files..... Probably a really important part of the process. What are the files called?

This updated the firmware, but did not clear the pw with just the .rom so close.
Holding OK does not do anything and my T42G doesn't have a USB port :(

Hey, the VoIP provider would've changed the passwords. It's very common this to be happen and they should be able to assist you.
Could you share the file names you used for the USB reset?

If you found this video after buying a (legit!) second-hand Verizon Yealink, the default password is 'admin'.
Have you tried this on a VSW phone? I'm interested in doing this USB meathod to flash the generic firmware to a T-54W, if that works.
