Thank you!! This video was awesome. I would mentioned when you add the toggle wheel back that the wheel is snapping back under the clips. I didn't see those initially. Either way I have been dealing with this problem for several months and thought I was going nuts... had no idea this was a normal issue. So thanks again for helping me fix this.
I solved my problem. I have a CDJ1000MK3. There was a spring under a black 6 angular part under the jog wheel. The part had -3 -2 -1 0 1 2 on it. This spring pushes the jog when the jog adjustment rotary knob gets rotated to 'high'. I wanted the spring to get less impact on the jog. Did this by setting the 6 angular black part to '-3'. Thanks alot for your awesome vid, it helped me learn the basics for my problem :) !!
I have never opened one up, but my assumption is that yes, they would be very similar. The only CDJ with a full size jog wheel that has a very different setup is the CDJ-1000 first edition. Keep in mind there are variations between every model, despite their more similar designs.
thank you man i managed to clean it and adjust the springs heigh i have to do it twice because the first time i let the screws on the white ring not too tight in case the spring streching was not enough and the plate feel weird,i open it up again and Turn Those Screws a Little Tighter. the harder part its to mount the plate back again on those hooks
Great video, Thanks for sharing. Just got a pair f second hand cdj 2000’s. One of them has a problem. The jog wheel doesn’t work on vinyl mode only neither does scratching only when i put my finger on top of it its stops and starts again when realeased like its supposed. It’s probably the sensor but wondering if you could give any help concerning that. Any help is much appreciated. Thank you
Great tutorial, step by step and easy to follow! The only advice I could add is to disconnect power or at least turn off the CDJ (I noticed yours is still on power when working, wich can be dangerous for damaging the CDJ). Thank you! :)
oh ok cool, one of the things i dont understand its in step 8 when you put the white ring back the screws are in the same place where the springs are? the screws are inside them?
Thank you for sharing, totally fixed my problem! However, it seems i stretched the springs too far. Do you know the size of spring for replacements? Thanks
excellent!! very well explained...i got cdj 800mk2 pair......they tend to read discs not before 1 or 2 minutes initially.they spit out the cds .i have re insert the cds....again it spits out the cds.i have to turn off the power and gain .......then it works quite ok....what do u think is the problem.and can it be solved...we dont have any pioneer store or service centre here
Hey, so im having the similar problem and one little more. If i go to scratch, when i touch the top part of the jog wheel where you would scratch, after releasing it, it stays as if i am still pressing down on it. it pretty much thinks im still pressing down on it even though my hand is off. if i give it a little nudge to play it will but sometimes stops. i put the CDJ on its side and kinda played with the wheel and it was fine.
What CDJ model do you have? Each model is different. The springs that I stretch has nothing to do with tension. It's a suspension for the jog surface and acts as the button to engage the sensor for scratch/vinyl mode.
the ribbon cable on the small screen pcb is just a pull out and push back in. but you have to be gentle. just like a laptop keyboard. the cdj 800 mk2 is the unit I worked on. this will make it much easier to work on the jog wheel assembly.
hi, one of my cdjs leaves a ring mark on every cd, do u think a cd lens cleaner will solve the problem? also on the other one the master tempo has stopped working. Any ideas on possible solutions? many thanks
I have a CDJ 1000 MK1, it has a very different setup to all the other jog wheel platters. A sticky drink was spilt all over the deck at a party, I managed to strip it down and clean the whole thing, including the platter with contact cleaner and soapy water for the plastic bits. I have reassembled everything, but the jog wheel seems a bit too stiff compared to my MK2. Its as if I need to apply some form of lubricant to the pads to make it spin more smoothly, any ideas? Much appreciated
My roommate has a pair of CDJ-1000 MK1's and I borrowed it one night and had a drink spill on it. Before anything, the MK1's are BY DESIGN, have more friction than all other CDJ's. That's how they were made, and that's how they will be. DO NOT put any lubricants because it will seep and leak to the bottom where the drive and laser are located. CDJ-1000's were stiff from the beginning because they use no bearings that was improved later on.
In step 9, how do you know the original position? Also in my cdj 2000 the jog in vinyl mode isn’t recognised at all. Not playing as if constantly being scratched (does play in cdj mode), but also the speeding up/slowing down through side of the jog (in vinyl) or full platter (in cdj) isn’t recognised. So I can only play in cdj mode through tempo fading to beat match (like vinyl back in the day without touching the platter), which is great for skill but shit for convenience. My problem sounds a little more complex to me than the one described in this vid, any tips what to look at?
the problem i have its that sometimes when i turn de ring part of the jog wheel it scratchs instead of pitch bend just in a specific place do i need to i need to strech all the springs or just one
accessing is is easy, follow my dis-assembly process in the video. Once you get the top plate off away from any electronics, you can clean it using windex. Sometimes, scratches and some stains will never go away. But I think the part is not really too expensive, maybe $14 to replace.
Hi priyonjoni, great video! I have a little question for you though. My CDJ Is too heavy when the jog adjustment knob is at maximum 'light'. Which springs do i need to stretch / de-stretch to make the jogwheel move lighter? I really hope I can get an answer from you. Much respect!
Judging from your symptoms, it seems like your having the same problem. It just means the springs are more compressed and that its not releasing enough to let the playback go. Try following the instructions in this video, and let me know how it turns out.
do you know what can be wrong with my cdj 850?? the jog light isnt working at all... thats the only problem... the jog display .. is it a light or a lcd ??
it can e a number of things, a possible bad connection or loose connection in the ribbon connector. It has happened to me as well, I'm actually getting it fully serviced because the players are 4 years old.
Van Afrika i removed both job wheel rings. Scrubbed them with a wrag, GooGone and alcohol. Untill it was all gone and down to bare plastic. All the rubber sticky crap is gone. Ive been researching a product call plasti dip. Buy from lowes/home depot in a spray can. Sprayed 5 coats of that on it and they look great/Feel great!! Its not exact buy has a rubbery feel and look to it. I had to do the first one twice because your first coat needs to be real thick! then 4 lights coats every 15-20mins. Perfect fix. $5 can much cheaper than a $65 jog wheel ring
You have to take the wheels off and clean them all you might have to change chain the wheel in the inside it is little tiny wheel rolling around sometime it pop out you might clean and put it back in
I only had it on to demonstrate the problem, if you look closely, the power cable is completely off the board, so if it appears on, it could be from the reflection of the light.
I have a CDJ 800MK2 that won't go on. I stayed a couple weeks without using them then when i went to turn them on, the left CDJ didn't go on. Any help?
Im having problem with my CDJ 800Mk2, when i turn it on, the screen say POWER ON, then it says E-8790........ none of the other lights on the whole unit come on.......
Look up the error code for your CDJ model and see what it says. I don't have the error codes memorized but a lot of times, it shows the code that says the laser is dirty.
I can tell you all about that Pioneer CDJ DJ that's a good cdjmk2 you probably let dust got in it and the wheels it needs cleaning you have to take your time
You sound like you have a CDJ-1000, first edition. The jog wheels on those are different from all other CDJ's. They don't use a bearing, instead use a clear plastic ring that rubs on the button. It's not the same as future CDJ's which were loosened because of complaints of the first CDJ being too hard.
Thank you!! This video was awesome. I would mentioned when you add the toggle wheel back that the wheel is snapping back under the clips. I didn't see those initially. What would you recommend? I’ve
mixed with vinyl.
I’d like to get 2 techniques 12’s.
I’d like a recommendation for a mixer?
i also need to clean the inside of the jog wheel display the crystal look a little blurry, any tips? it this too hard to do?thank you priyonjoni

you pull it out from the jog wheel side not the base unit pcb board side.

Hi. Do you know what´s the Pioneer Spring Article Number?

you are doing this with the power on?
Hi ! Great tutorial ! I was wondering where can I get "Ellie Goulding - Lights (Bassnectar vs. Pri yon Joni vs. DJ D-Tec Breakstep Remix)" from ?
How do u recommend cleaning a filthy jog wheel ring...?
Hi priyonjoni, great video! I have a little question for you though. My CDJ Is too heavy when the jog adjustment knob is at maximum 'light'. Which springs do i need to stretch / de-stretch to make the jogwheel move lighter? I really hope I can get an answer from you. Much respect!
What if the CD sticks upon insertion and makes a clicking noise?
Time to replace the 20 year old CDJ.
@djvegas11 It's now available on DJTunes.com and Beatport.com :)

awsome vid by the way...
Anyone have a suggestion how to clean or fix sticky crap off of jog wheel ring...? looks like the rubber is just melting with time
You can completely remove it and clean it. But careful because the rubber coating can disintegrate.
I have exactly the same issue with the rubber 'stickiness'
Van Afrika i removed both job wheel rings. Scrubbed them with a wrag, GooGone and alcohol. Untill it was all gone and down to bare plastic. All the rubber sticky crap is gone.
