Yorick is most useless laner in the game. Pretty much every top laner hard stomps him and when he gets 6 just ping ur jg to come and kill the maiden and game over. He needs to be reworked. It's either u are the reason your team loses the game or wins the game. Illaoi is cancer from level 1 to 18 and it doesn't really matter how much gold you have if you hit your E and have passive and ult with you you will win the fight.

If you pick any meta top laner (jax, fiora, irelia especially) the lane is literally unplayable for Yorick. He opted to play Illaoi's worst counter, got steamrolled, then complained that it's unfair. Like idk... play a different role my guy, top lane is literally all about who is playing the better champ and who is counterpicked. I guarantee you he doesn't think Yorick is broken if he tries climbing with it himself. I also find it really funny that he gets 1v1'd by an 0/8 Fiora that did 5k true damage to him in the duel, facetanking all his tentacles but he thinks Yorick is the most broken champ in the game. That's just wild to me.

You don’t ever have to walk near tentacles tbh, even her E you have to walk into her range with no minions and not dodge it. Her ult you can just walk out of (nobody ever will of course, everyone just sits in it).

At least Illaoi E is dodgable. The yorick spell that gets his minions to jump on him has a really fast cast and is harder to dodge. He gets the turret to half hp without auto attacking it once. If you dodge Illaoi E you win the trade. If you dodge Yorick spell he still has his maiden the whole time.
I think it's braindead to be watching a video of the match up and think the two champions are the same.
While Illaoi E does a lot of damage at least you can run out of it.
If yorick lands slow -> cage you're dead. There's not any counterplay to that except flashing out. Lands two spells and you die does not sound fun and interactive to play against especially when one of them is a slow that helps land the followup spell. This is why the game is stupid to play nowadays.
@@SkeletonHands6969 You can run out of Illaois E, for it to STILL be able to do damage or even kill you, while Yoricks E is short, has an EASY to dodge hitbox lets be realistic, and depends entirely on Yorick having Ghouls/Maiden up.
Honestly i dont know how many times you have fought a Yorick but 90% of the time his cage + E doesnt mean death, because USUALLY any champ whit dashes can just.. dash out, and if the champ doesnt have dashes, usually it is a juggernaut like Sett or Nasus, DO YOU KNOW NASUS CAN STACK GHOULS?

Whit Illaoi, you ARE dead EVEN if you flash out, if you fight her you lose because of tentacles and double damage, if you run the slow is going to allow her to catch up, lets be realistic here, Illaoi E is a death sentence, Yoricks E is an annoying poke, the only reason it seems literally impossible is because ILLAOIS E GETS CANCEL OUT BY THE GHOULS, meaning she CANT fight Yorick, but Tyler is having braindamage because the dude cannot handle a counterpick.

My only real problem with yorick is that his minions are like invulnerable to aoe abilities, you can only really kill them through auto's or tower shots and they like never despawn. Malz minions are totally fine because they not only despawn relatively quickly but die to aoe abilities. Yorick minions get to leap at you from miles away and are aids to get rid of.
Only for champs like Illaoi. Yorick is hard countered by any champs that dodge auto attacks or can escape his W bc hit makes it hard for him to hit E, and his minions always die to a single auto attack. Illaoi doesnt attack fast enough and his E straight counters her E.
Basically playing Illaoi into Yorick (One of her worst counters) and complaining about him countering her is like playing Yorick into Irelia and complaining about her countering him. You just cant play them into their counters like that
I agree, playing champ into a direct counter and whinging about the counter being aids is a wee smooth-brained if you choose to play the matchup. However, even champs that counter Yorick, like Riven, where it's quite favorable for Riven, I still find Yorick to just be super aids to play against. I hate having to auto every ghoul with them perma locking onto me instead of being able to kill them with a couple abilities. Like I don't think you should be able to 1shot them with abilities like Malz minions, but I don't think they should be so invulnerable to abilities either.@@gamergilbert4438
@@gamergilbert4438 If irelia burns her Q cooldown, she dies basically. So it really ain't that bad. If she decides to press Q on you, you only need to press W as yorick to easily win the trade. So this match-up is heavily reliant on you ''as yorick'' dodging every stuns that irelia tries to land on you.

Irelia spams q on all Yorick’s ghouls and just slaughters Yorick with 4 passive stacks. Irelia’s only champion weakness (her reliance on passive stacks) is removed by yoricks kit feeding into her.

It is hard to click and he is a menace in lane, but his ghouls makes it impossible for him to do anything but push the wave so he is easily punished if your jungler isn't trolling and once he is behind he is useless until lategame

When you're playing against Yorick it feels like every choice you make is a bad one.
When you're PLAYING Yorick, it feels like nothing is ever going your way.
Champ's really cursed but I love him for that.
Yorick is a lot like illaoi, yorick is useless without graves or r the same way illaoi is useless without r or tentacles.
Both illaoi and yorick should got deleted from game or reworked completely from the scratch cuz to play vs them as a melee is a pure cancer. I hate my life when I faced them. This is not impossible to beat but gameplay vs them is so cringe and unfair. You need spacing perfectly but they can just through one spell and force you to go base. They can made a mistakes whole laning phase go 0-3 then take a tower or random kill and faceroll you till the end of the game. Illaoi tentacle hitbox is another level of bullshitness.
illaoi at least has a ton of built in counterplay, dodge e dodge tentacle slaps and you will almost always win, i will admit though iceborn makes it a little bs but you should hopefully have a lead by then anyways

Cause you still oneshoot or deal enough dmg. So you just go go radian/bork or withends, steraks hydra. Good constant dmg in teamfight with cc and etc, who also wins almost everytoplane. You could check out keberos. i think he had a montage of his varus tilting high elo streamers in euw He basicily plays this build at 1 k lp

Yorick changes to how Maiden walks made him too uninteractive. He can just perma keep his Maiden and if you play a champ that can not deal with it like Illaoi you just do not get to play, because you need your jungler to understand that and come and break Maiden. This is not trying to say Illaoi is anywhere near good design. But there should not be heroes like this where any good dia+ Yorick just cancels aggro under your turret 20 times a minute and then can just walk away with maiden and repeat it infinitely while you fall further and further behind. You can not all in maiden because then he just kills you. Yorick is useless or undefeatable in a 1v1, your jungler comes and you break maiden he is pinata, your jungler does not come and you lose the lane in 3 minutes, iredeemable design.

jax and irelia are the two most notable that do very well into him. irelia q one shots ghouls and jax is jax. jax is better to play though cus hes easier.

My issue with Yorick is that his spawns dont die to 2 spellscasts. There's literally no counterplay.

@@MattHatter360 Urgot and Irelia stop functioning once Yorick hits 2 items, u wont win the 1v1 because he chooses when to fight and when not to. Yorick is one of the few winning matchups for any Nasus otp, and one of the few champs that doesnt mind being in a sidelane all game

Irelia doesnt like being in a sidelane all game trying to deal with a 0/0/0 Yorick who derives joy out of being miserable. That plan doesn't work. You W in for iceborn. Throw E. "IF" it lands you still lose. Yorick uses wall and walks away. You eat an undodgeable Yorick E to die inside wall.

It's a fair question to ask. Why does maiden not expire. It does so much vs melee champions that do not have movement over walls making you lane 2v1 with zerglings. You need your jg to help kill the maiden, and you need to pray that your jg doesnt stack on you for you to both get caged. If either maiden died easily/expired or ghouls died easily, it would be more balanced. The damage can stay.

This is months old but yorick is half a champ without maiden. He can't do shit till 6 as long as you pay attention to his graves and hit his ghouls first. They die in one auto. If he doesn't have maiden he can only get one ghoul per kill and pre 6 his Q CD is decently long and takes a bit of mana. Most of yoricks damage comes from hitting the same target maiden hits. Tibbers does damage on his own, maiden does almost nothing. And maiden can't be controlled, if you attack someone, it will run at them until you get decently far away. So if you take a bad trade, bye bye maiden, you are now worthless till ult is back. Anyone with a dash can escape his W, or anyone with decently fast AA speed can escape too if they aren't behind and will just survive your all in. His cooldown doesn't start until maiden dies and its like 2 min CD. He's annoying like illaoi or trundle - they just split push. Except yorick sucks in team fights, which is why he's the best split pusher in the game. It's all he can do, and without maiden, anyone with decently healing can kill him, and in a 2v1, yorick almost never wins. And yorick doesn't really get a ban, since any sane yorick will ban Irelia, because Irelia vs yorick is the worst matchup in the entire game. Irelia literally benefits massively from yorick's entire kit, basically giving her nearly 100% up time on her own passive. And on top of all of that, yorick's E is actually stupid easy to dodge if you pay attention and it has a bad hitbox where even though it hits visually it won't actually.
Maybe Kalista top could deal with Yorick because she doesn’t even have to be next to him either for real.
If you want an easy lane into yorrick just play Urgot, his W kills the minions mid air of their jump.

@@boomynote as someone who used to 1 trick Urgot, there is very little reason to play him. Riot neglects him and most of the stuff you do playing him really doesn't translate to other champs.
That being said Urgot totally stomps Yorrick and Riven so if those two champs are a problem for you def pick him up.
Just came here to inform as a player that kinda got carried by Urgot up to emerald, Urgot only counters him in low elo. Turns out yoricks wall is the last thing that urgot w will target, and he can just keep you there, Qing you, with the maiden adding damage, with the spirit sunderer doing half your health while you do no damage to him, on top of also not being able to escape with E. This makes the lane an easy win for yorick.

You can toggle urgot W off even when it isn't lvled fully. If you are foolish enough to get caught in yorrick wall turn it off and auto it. Even in the ludicrous situation you gave you should be using Urgot E defensively unless you are going for an all in to kill someone. So you SHOULD have it if off cooldown if goes to all in you and even if you get caught in the W the E shield will mitigate a majority of the damage.
Yorrick W is very easy to avoid in first place. Majority of the time you should be giving yorrick prio so you don't get ganked or stunned THEN caught in the yorrick W.

Just because Yorick counters Illaoi and the Yorick player knows how to play around it doesn't mean Yorick is "cringe" and "overpowered". Yorick gets hard countered by most Toplaners.

Riot has gone to shit when they got sold to TenCent. Years before RIot admitted they made to many champions to be able to blaance it and releasing champs would only delay being able to balance it, so they mentioned in a article how there is going to be a day within 2 years they would stop releasing champions. Then they got bought by TenCent shortly after and they keep releasing champions.
And everybody is like 'New content'. People don't stand still by the fact that all the new released champions just have a copy of another champs ability but works with a diffirent CC and a diffirent animation.
