Miriam really is comedy gold. If you watch enough clips of her you will recognize little things like this... she knows exactly how to deliver a punchline effectively, without making it seem like it was even planned.

I just saw this clip in the Compilation Video and nearly died. But, they cut out the last minute. So I missed Miriam Margolyes's follow-up, "...well I think that's a tribute!" LMAO!!!!!!! So brilliant.
Of course she does. She has said that she likes to shock people because it makes them sort of exposed and vulnerable - you get to see who they really are much more quickly because they drop their guard. It's a way she has of breaking the ice, basically.
She is a very good actress, after all.

Miriam has been on the show a number of times.... and if you pay attention, you'll notice that every time she is on here, they have at least one American actor that has never met her or is unfamiliar with her personality.... just so she has someone to shock with her stories. Very subtle but smart choices by the casting/producers. Well done.

Dominic had never met her. And there was a story in each of those episodes that stirred people up. I'll give you that I should have said American OR someone who is unfamiliar with her personality. But my point still stands, there is always someone on the couch who is unprepared for the chaos that is Miriam.

But tbh the underrated story here is how it definitely is a time capsule: you wouldn't imagine Laurence Olivier as anything beyond a respected senior actor for most of his life, but there was indeed a time that he can inspire this kind of thing you would expect of Elvis, the Beatles or boybands

Matthew Perry such a pro.. He knows the cue. He intentionally made that face to emphasize and compliment the line Miriam told.. He added the funny awkward shockness upon delivery, which is very common in sitcoms.. If his response was only subtle laughing, the delivery will be less funnier..
