The British-Australian actress reveals her tote bag essentials, as we take a look inside Miriam Margolyes’ tote bag. ‘I always carry an old bag like this because I am an old bag,’ laughs Miriam Margolyes, holding up her floral tote. Among the eccentric items the Harry Potter star has collected is a spare pair of knickers, an onion and her memoir ‘This Much is True:’ ‘It’s got naughty tales of the people I’ve slept with and the people I haven’t slept with.’
After confessing to making Elizabeth II roll her eyes when they met at Buckingham Palace, Miriam shows off her other must-haves, including her scent of choice, Jo Malone’s Lime Basil & Mandarin Cologne. Miriam was on my bucket list and I was lucky enough to meet her 5 years ago.
I told her how wonderful thought she was and that she was a great positive female role model for me growing up.
She is a delightful lady and very humble when receiving praise.
Loved this. A woman who is honest enough to be herself. No designer bag and stuff I believe that she actually uses. Wish Vogue would do more of what is really inside women's handbags and not stage it with designer bags and designer makeup.

It's entirely possible she does actually carry a copy of the book with her everywhere - apart from anything else, enjoying reading the naughty bits out to people seems entirely in keeping with her character 😀

I met Miriam once at a book festival and had probably the most honest, interesting (sorry, husband darling), hilarious conversation of my life. The world needs much more Miriam and it would be a place almost worth living in.
P. S. I was delighted to see that the contents of MY bag were very similar, sans onion and book but including spare knickers and tweezers!!
People who appear authentic & naturally themselves can be so appealing & attracting. Miriam Margolyes OBE is absolutely one such person. She is absolutely adorable & doesn't seem bothered with not speaking her mind. A truly gifted actress. 💜

It’s so refreshing to not see an overpriced unused looking designer bag filled with promotional items. That whole brand partnership thing was getting so tired.
The items all look used. Like the perfume isn’t particularly cheap but it a actually sensible sized bottle to have in a bag and by the wear on the label clearly been used for a while. Even the her book which was plug does feel werid cos if I had written a book and was invited almost anywhere I would definitely want to take a copy to show people and offer them one (from what I’ve seen author often end up with a big of a surplus of there own books with the preprints, ARCs, the hardback and paper editions)
How can you not adore Miriam, she's everything I think we'd all love to be at her age... just herself, hilariously funny and brutally honest. Bravo Vogue for managing to persuade her to do this!

I love this woman. She is so delightfully real and open. Her forthright manner and ability to say exactly what she is thinking is refreshing. An international treasure! Many woman will understand the need to dash to the WC, although having to search the bag for the toilet key in that bag may take so much time the knickers didn't get saved!!

I absolutely love Miriam. I listened to her audio book for 17 hours in about four sittings, I laughed, shed a tear, got angry at her, laughed again, agreed and disagreed with her statements and ultimately fell in love with her and her story. She's a delight.
She is so genuine and unique. I love how there's no frills and fancies, you get what you get and tough if you don't like it.
She's so true to herself, not bragging, not pretending, not pandering, not trying to look perfect. Such s breath pf fresh air.
