For all those asking about the Aircraft. Please be patient. There will be some videos of them shortly, hopefully we can get them all running cleaned checked and serviced!
I'm thinking a nice paint job from the mod era (1960's) would turner her into a banger of a boat. Google "Batman boat"and check out some of them images. ;)
You're not gonna let that civilian boat beat some really good tank guys are you?😁 You can get that thing running and seaworthy again, you made an effing Stolly 'seaworthy' didn't you?👍🇺🇸😎
Given the general Animal Magnetism applied to all mechanical things, the extensive use of the shifting spanner, how about No, don't get the aeroplane flying?
This boat was owned by one of the partners in the Castoldi UK importation business. He also had a company running pleasure trips from Littlehampton. I think there were (at least) two similar boats back in the 80's. That looks like an 06 unit, so it has a front gearbox with a dog clutch to engage/disengage the engine. The hydraulics for steering and reverse bucket should be powered from a pump in the gearbox, so the entire unit is self-contained from the engine.
My step dad was Peter Robinson, he always piloted Miss Littlehampton, the others were Fury and Flash. He also piloted the blue Peter one lifeboat, fun fact he couldn't swim.
Love the boat! I've always wanted a jet boat to go in shallow water up the River Severn. Jets are much safer than props but not quite as efficient so they haven't caught on. Don't ell my wife but I'd love to buy it ! I have two electric boats so I allowed one 'dirty diesel'! The water cooled exhaust would sound great.
Hull looks to be a Classic 27, which dates from the early 1970s, continuing to be produced into the mid 00s. If so, it's a really nice handling and performing hull. With a big turbo diesel on a jet, it's got the makings of a great boat. You want to crack an injector union open to see if it's getting fuel in the first instance.
Great vids every time. Do a collaboration with "Ship Happens" great cross over. Both of you are rehabbing elements of the WW2. Cheers n tallyhoe n all that stuff. From America
Coast Guard 41's had 2 VT903 Cummins Diesels, one drove a PTO (when needed) and the Stbd Prop (If memory serves). I drove the boat, but that engine was facinating and I drew out much of the cooling and fuel distribution in the hopes of getting certified on that engine. I have heard of it running away, but never happened to anyone I knew. Your videos are facinating, nostalgic, and funny without even trying, keep it up.
Bloody shame that engine got left to rot, they were pretty good motors, I had a pair in my charter catamaran. Sabre engines from Wimborne, Dorset were originally making a marine version of Ford truck engines and then changed to doing the same with Perkins. They were taken over by Caterpillar in 1998 and at one time half the production line came out in Cat yellow and the rest in Perkins blue, spares should be readily available.
Fookin Awesome video boys. Whats the plan for the boat? I can imagine you nutters water skiiing or the like up one of those massive fen drains....Lol....lookforward to the next one...Starting the comet up!
Keep making the footage guys, loving your work and i'm learning loads. Got a Stolly in the yard with some submarine moulds as wings on hydraulics. Currently messing about with a Sea King........
We live about 12 miles from Littlehampton, I remember that boat doing trips out on the sea for visitors to Littlehampton. It used to go like stink out on the sea, and easily coped with the extreme tidal flow in the river Arun to get into its mooring for more trippers. I thought it must have been scrapped years ago.
O my gosh…..Joseph with a boat. It's kind of like a pilot is going for deep-sea diving😀 It’s therefore the first time ever that I’m happy that the engine refuses to start. What was more funny is to see that a fire truck produces even more smoke than a heavy fire😀. Look forward to your next vlog and send you love from the Netherlands
That engine was built in Bournemouth. The company is now cat marine or Wimborne marine power centre. I didn’t work there when it was Sabre. They originally converted Ford engines to marine spec.
Hope Jack's got his PPL ready for the comet's first taxi in ages , spent a lot of time as a fire picket in the early eighties riding round on an RAF Nubian scared the crap out of me holding the hoses at 10 bar ,but brilliant all the same 😊
I work for Perkins Engines company based in Peterborough UK. Nice to see some classic after you just typed "abandoned" in your YT search and your video was uploaded a few hours ago.
The Mk9 with that Cummins V8 sounds a treat. I have fond memories of driving them back in the day. Please don’t break it, not many of those old girls left. Would be amazing if you could restore it!
Beautiful boat with bulettproof perkins engine & castoldi water jet. I was owner of one broom35 semi displacment boat with 2 great perkins 354.4 engines. I think that this boat is also made in Norfolk
Hamilton Jet. excellent system! very good for shallow water also! Perkins engines also very good for marine! VERY bad idea to start marine engines dry! it tears up the impeller very quickly as most are rubber impellers. generally, the bilge pump will automatically switch off as they are commonly set using a float switch. If at all possible, keep that Perkins! It is a GEM! I have known these engines to be sunk for a week, fuel system cleaned and start up right away. Marine steering is commonly TELEFLEX system. a geared cable system. sadly, That Gareth needs 'OUT' if it was underwater, it woud probrably have been OK. But being in damp air has been the worst situation. Maybe bypass? or try a Truck turbo?
I have fond memories of the old 903, about 285 HP if I remember and its offshoot sibling the VT300. The same block modified and turbocharged at 300 and a bit HP
The engine plate says its the 265 version, but yes nice engines and not as old as the rest of the boat. Expensive when new, so worth salvaging as there are a lot of boats still using them.
Ahoy mi arties!! Is it a fair comment you're doing anything but working on Russian tanks now?!! 🧐😁😁 Did I miss the part where you said there was diesel in the tank, and you'd bled the system? As always, I wish you good luck, let's forget about the big crack in the hull, and the turbo, I'm holding my breath for the next episode, will it be the boat, the Thorneycroft, or the tank! 😃👍👍👍🙂
I know that location (I think) Used to be so many other aircraft and odds and sods there. Remember firing up a small jet turbine on a trolley. Your videos are thr most entertaining on TH-cam. Keep it up and please save everything there 😢 Is it a Comet or Caravelle? Priceless historical artefacts, even the old fire-engine.❤
great vid had to drive one of those MK 10s from suffolk back to RAF Aldergrove in Northen Ireland cant remember how many fuel stops i did it had a poxy little tank for airfield use i think i was filling up every 50 miles but what a beast
Well that's a damn shame it was sitting in too much water for too long but that's a nice big Perkins like a 300 horse at least 300 and a nice big jet I'm sure that boat if you can get it to run will be fun because it has a big jet on the back you should be able to do 30 mph easily. Most important thing drain the bilge dry and keep it dry that's what happens when you have a hatch that's open to the elements it always fills up for damn water because you left the plug in and you have a dead battery and the the bilge pump is not pumping the water out of the boat. But on the good side you know diesels you'll get it running
I'll go out on a limb and say that there are quite a few viewers who wish they could get in on the shenanigans you lot get up to, I'd be one, unfortunately I live about 4400 miles away... looks like great fun.
With the boat. If yo that you use marine exhaust manifolds and if you are going to use it in salt water the manifolds need to be cast Iron also put riser's on them as well. They will prevent or help prevent water rushing back up the exhaust pipes if you stop or stall quickly. Normally jet units have baffles that fold down behind the nozzle which will give you neutral and reverse. I haven't seen that type of coupling on a jet but I'm guessing it would be a reduction box of some sort. Salt water will destroy any engine quickly if you don't prepare it for the conditions like the Perkins has been. Also a closed cooling system would also be advisable.
For all those asking about the Aircraft. Please be patient.
There will be some videos of them shortly, hopefully we can get them all running cleaned checked and serviced!
Nice Comet 4 looks like the Ex Boscombe down example that was at Bruntingthorpe im guessing thats were you are great video as always.
There's a bunch of people that used to look after them. Me included.
Will you ever tell us something about that jet plane in your backyard plssss.
I'm thinking a nice paint job from the mod era (1960's) would turner her into a banger of a boat. Google "Batman boat"and check out some of them images. ;)

Never mind the boat, get that airplane flying!!!!
I would make a donation for that.
Sod the airplane, get the Transit running and the oil leaks flowing 😅
There DANGEROUS ENUFF IN A FEILD it's not a good idea for them to be around aircraft
I'm not sure they brought enough easy start for that 😅
Given the general Animal Magnetism applied to all mechanical things, the extensive use of the shifting spanner, how about No, don't get the aeroplane flying?

for sale
Fury was the second boat
I was on Miss Littlehampton as a kid in the 80s. It was very fast. 😊
@@gustennant5469no way, do you have any videos
My step dad was Peter Robinson, he always piloted Miss Littlehampton, the others were Fury and Flash. He also piloted the blue Peter one lifeboat, fun fact he couldn't swim.
I bet this thing shifted when she was in her prime....is that the opening theme tune to Miami Vice.....LETS ROLL BABY...YYEEAA..ha ha ha

Awesome vid. Love seeing engines get turned over after neglect. That fire engine was sweet.
Who come here form TikTok 😂😂

Came, not come. Sheesh.

If it won’t fire on easy start it won’t fire on an injector

Most interesting channel on Utube! Love to see what you guys are working on, every episode!

Next time bring a big bucket & hoses for the external (seawater) cooling circuit & pump. Check the Casoldi unit is in neutral.
Fookin Awesome video boys. Whats the plan for the boat? I can imagine you nutters water skiiing or the like up one of those massive fen drains....Lol....lookforward to the next one...Starting the comet up!
Never a dull moment watching you guys 😂. Keep the good work up
Love seeing old bits of kit being bought back to life, whilst being belted with a hammer! 🤣 Nuff said....
Oooo got a spark! 🤣
Brilliant can't wait for part 2, with the newly battery terminal to boot!
Keep making the footage guys, loving your work and i'm learning loads. Got a Stolly in the yard with some submarine moulds as wings on hydraulics. Currently messing about with a Sea King........
Proper old school health and safety ! ❤

That was quite a sophisticated boat for its time.
That could be a stunning boat.
Fine craftsmanship never goes out of style. Shame there is not more of it...
That engine was built in Bournemouth. The company is now cat marine or Wimborne marine power centre. I didn’t work there when it was Sabre. They originally converted Ford engines to marine spec.
I don’t think the engine will start because you’ve “flooded” it😂
You would really impress me if you could start the Comet behind you. All the best. Mick👍
Hope Jack's got his PPL ready for the comet's first taxi in ages , spent a lot of time as a fire picket in the early eighties riding round on an RAF Nubian scared the crap out of me holding the hoses at 10 bar ,but brilliant all the same 😊
Great looking boat and nice to see Canopus in teh background! Nw that would make a great will it start video!
Thats a lovely boat. Should definitely be revived properly
OK so who's back yard has a bloody Comet 4C painted in A&AEE Boscombe Down colours in it?
And yes we need another episode .... 👍👍👏👏
Good stuff. Health and safety is negotiable 😂
That boat's crying out for a Lamborghini V12. Surely you've got one of those hiding in a corner!!!???
Love your attitude on these videos!
I have actually ridden in that very boat as i used to live near to Littlehampton. If memory serves me right it used to go like stink .
I just started watching you guys videos 2 weeks ago and they are really funny and really educational , nice job
Boats generally don't use "air filters" since the dust levels over water are rally low. BTW the waste gate control line is off the turbo.
Another awesome video of trying to get a perkins marine diesel engine started. Keep up the good work.

@@t.r.8386I was referring to the Mk9 fire truck, not the boat.
Keep the awesome content rolling lads! Loving every vid!!
I am never Littlehampton and remember her taking people out for a ride.
I must be get old 🙈
You guys should make some programs for the TV that's the best thing I've seen for ages.
Epic and fully enjoyable episode!
Classic chucking the Easy Start at the hull to start it!
Nice Mr. Sailor. And now back to the shop and continue with work on the T34 engine.
thank you very much for good entertainment👍🤗👍🇸🇯
I think the unsung heroes here is the bilge pump and starter motor..
Tow start the boat with the FODEN
Well I never, a Fire Engine Tank and a Jet Boat Tank? At least the Fire Engine Tank smokes like a Hewes Vehicle! :)
Love old machinery. But.... There's a Comet there....!!! Be careful what you start guys. You'll need a full time crew before you know it. 😁
Absolutely awesome video, guys. When I saw your post about the boat, I said stolly jet drive swap. However, the boat wasn't far off the same size
Classic 27hull build in Norfolk
That tank has got a point on it and it’s red !
I'd check the fuel to see if it's not being injected with water lol. Love the sound of that big Cummins V8!
Let's have a round of applause for that water logged starter motor!!
I was surprised too that the starter turned over as well. Stuck brushes is usually what prevents it from working.
Awesome mechanicking gents love the vid.
I think the /23 on the info label was an expiry date.😂
Is this one of the Bullseye speed boats?
"Lets take a look at what ya could've won" 😂😂😂
ha ha fucking hell! 😂
Used to love this boat as a youngster, shame she isn't still running at Littlehampton
I have an image of you lot going waterskiing - it'll be mint!

In Canada at -20 , me hammering on the terminal drove the battery post down into the battery never to be seen again. Lesson learned on that idea.
Ooooh smiley transit
Sabre perkins yes you can get the bits. Lancing marine, seahorse power or timik marine would be my first attempts
This thing is thoroughly knackered
Waahhhhhh I wanted to see the boat run 😢😭🫏💩🤡🤔🤭😂🤣🤪
That Cummins 903 is the same block that powers the M2 Bradley Fighting’s Vehicle. 903 turbocharged aftercooled.
1.47 in , I’ll tell you now, if it’s not seized, it’ll run! Christ I hate boats, says the boat mechanic!!

Rutland Water ! I can see weddings at Hambleton where the Bride and Groom arrive by Tank and speed boat! ... there's an idea that could float 🙄

THAT BOAT WILL NEVER FIT IN THAT YOUR POND !! PEROD !!
i have enjoyed this madness...
PS there are two turbine wheels on a turbo, one blocks the inlet, one blocks the exhaust...
surgery reqd. perhaps
😂 The Jeremy Clarksons school of engineering *hit it with a hammer* 😂😂😂
Yeah show us the plane.👍👍👍
I was sure you'd be going to start the plane next.
It's such a shame to see beautiful equipment like this just left to rot. I bet when it was parked there it was fine.

that's a perkins sabre m265ti, 260hp
Aircraft in background and you take the easy will it start 😂
Aren’t you about as far from the coast as anyone can be in England? And you buy a boat!
that boat is fuckin mint lads, shoulda ran first go 😜
Get the jet running 😉
Ole peg from zip ties would have double Cosby sauced it, nice vidya tho, maybe try the DC welder to start it

If only you had some 'start you bastard' from Australia, it would have started already.

Yup with an aircraft switch panel as background. I’m in😊
Hi guys, ital start its a Perkins
Glad to see the eccles cakes where lifted to safety whilst grinding 😂😂😂
