What I remember of Chuseok from my childhood was that my Mom would cook for nearly a week. For some reason she made three types of everything. 3 soups, 3 meats, 3 fish, 3 rice, 3 root veggie, 3 leaf veggies, etc. We had to wake up early in the morning and get dressed and then welcome the ghosts of my Dad's parents and we served them, alternating dishes. Then we had to bow (deep bows all the way to the ground) 3 times, and then repeat the 3 bows two more times for a total of 9. Once all that was done, then we would feast!
