In his 20 seasons with the Los Angeles Lakers, Kobe Bryant was the heart of the city and stands as one of the greatest NBA players of all time. For the majority of his life, basketball was the most important thing, but he was so much more than an athlete. Kobe was a husband, a father, a friend, and a mentor. It’s heartbreaking that we’ll never get to see his future dreams realized, but we can know one thing: like every other chapter in his life, it would’ve been great.

Anytime I see anything about Kobe I remember sitting there watching his final game thinking there will never be another and just shedding a few tears as the final legend of my childhood retired. Rest in Power Kobe, GIGI and all of the other victims of the tragedy.

i remember a time where i was so invested in his career and mentality that i memorized every speech, every highlight, every move, every moment that he had up until his retirement. when i look back i realize that kobe's attitude and mentality played a big role in shaping me as a person. obviously he made me a basketball fan and he's the sole reason why i played and loved basketball as much as i did. i used to study his moves throughout the years and mimic it on the court. fadeaway jumpers, footwork, layup packages and even the facial expresions. i was seeing myself as him because i did think that our competitives drives matched perfectly. thank you kobe for everything, rest in piece.
