Before you start conplaining about price remember it is made in France and can you hate on people wanting to be paid fair wages that you would want for yourself?
Keilwerth saxophones are made in Germany, Rampone & Cazzani are made in Italy, Borgani too. They are less than half the price, yet they still get paid for their good craftmanship too, so what's your point? Other than Selmer white knighting.
The sound is created by the player…..not the horn……all my saxes are Yamaha. The old yts280 is great….I could afford this one but it won’t enhance my playing…..
I couldn’t agree more. Just like mouthpieces. There are no “chops in a box” you can buy at any price. People who sound great - like Jim - sound good on this pro horn, on a Yanagisawa, on a vintage Conn or Buescher, and on a Yamaha student sax.
You have to take your hat off to Selmer - anyone else pricing their horns like this would be laughed out of the room. Literally TWICE the price of a Yamaha Custom or Yani WO10. Lets be clear - you are paying £4K+ for the label. If you are happy with that then all power to you. Personally, for 9000 quid I'd want it hand-delivered by Chloe Grace Moretz wearing nothing but a smile. Each to their own though.
12 years? Hope they have been in Germany and Taiwan to learn how to make great big bore saxophones.. 🎷 Change neck; bigger or smaller bore? Smaller pad cups with make it more difficult to repair/repad in 30 years 😮

That being said, the asking price for Supreme is beyond ridiculous; anyone who is justifying it, is deaf, biased or preposterous.
My yanagisawa sounds better than the suprême and has à better construction. Come on , and the price !? My friend teacher and musician was asked to promote Supreme, played on 3 and then said to me( not to music shop) that could take one as presented but not sorry that wasn't lucky.
The only effect is a dash of reverb. No EQ. The room is extremely dry so the reverb makes it a little more realistic. We close-mic so you hear as much of the sax as possible, and not the room.
Nothing of this explained in the video has any touch with reality - it was all fantasy lalaland. We do appreciate Selmer, but let's wake up and stop justifying the unjustifiable. Using the catch that Selmer "worked 12 years" on this, like it means something special? Does it mean other reputable manufacturers don't work as hard, or as long, or don't listen to the customers even better? There is no rational explanation for this tenor's asking price other than it's a ticket for "Selmer's fantasy train".
This is not correct. An iPhone will compress your audio and it won't be able to handle the SPL of a saxophone properly. If you'd like to use your phone, we'd recommend getting a compatible microphone by ZOOM, this will give you better quality. We've always strived to find recording gear that makes the audio sound as accurate as possible from in the room, we find our Neumann TLM 102 with UA Apollo gives us great clarity and sounds very close to what you hear when standing in front of the saxophone.
Supreme has an overly oppressive, gloomy sound. As if this is an attempt to revive King. I liked the other Selmer models because they felt good in the fabric of music. This is an amazing ability to sound harmoniously in any music. I probably don't understand something, but I don't like this product.
The sound of the saxophone has to do also with the mouthpiece/reed combination and the player itself. How do you know about this instrument's sound without having played it yourself? With your own setup?
@@AKapatsoris I've tried different tools. Now there are a lot of videos on TH-cam and this is enough to make a conclusion. I have Yas 62 and Conn 6m. I've heard different Supreme tests. It's 13000 pounds for gold lac. so around 16000 USD. More if you want black, brushed, silver, etc...
USD $10,000 in the US
ब हुत बढियां में रे यार। देखतें है ं हरहर महादेव टोलाटाटी नवादा बिहार
Am I crazy or was the price not actually mentioned?
@@MathieuPilote Clicked the link, it took me to the Alto. Maybe because I'm in the USA?
@@jdbarrera The link is the wrong one, but you can see the tenor supreme on the homepage
They didn't mention it. Get's traffic to their website if they don't. $21,527 USD for the gold one like the video
If you have to ask, you can’t afford it.
@@brainwoodman1646
Oh I’ve well established that I can’t afford it. All I myself can afford is a discussion of the price.
sooooo, they essentially made a Yamaha 82Z
Before you start conplaining about price remember it is made in France and can you hate on people wanting to be paid fair wages that you would want for yourself?
Willing to bet the workers get no more than €25 per hour.
I can complain when I can get a brass yanagisawa that plays just as well as this for less than half the price.
@@TWO20 The Yanagisawa will be way better than this !
@@TWO20Yani’s are wonderful horns. I love mine.
Keilwerth saxophones are made in Germany, Rampone & Cazzani are made in Italy, Borgani too. They are less than half the price, yet they still get paid for their good craftmanship too, so what's your point? Other than Selmer white knighting.
Drool
Looking good but how much is it? 😂
The sound is created by the player…..not the horn……all my saxes are Yamaha. The old yts280 is great….I could afford this one but it won’t enhance my playing…..
No, not only.. i have experienced that it's not only the indian.. it's the arrow too.
I couldn’t agree more. Just like mouthpieces. There are no “chops in a box” you can buy at any price. People who sound great - like Jim - sound good on this pro horn, on a Yanagisawa, on a vintage Conn or Buescher, and on a Yamaha student sax.
No, no, the best are 21 and 23, really best for price and sound!
why with high fis? this is a deal breaker!
The new Supreme sounds great and the little changes are very interesting but this engraving 😞
Sorry I don't like this engraving...
I love your videos and your playing, but the supreme sound was lackluster.
??lackluster??? This thing sound exactly like a tenor must sound! Warm, deep, smooth, soft and full.. not bright like a chinesse and many others😊
Yeah what would Branford Marsalis and Potter know! Total hacks they are.
Very Beautiful instrument and it sounds very nice. For my money, I still prefer my YTS 875 EX.
For these money I better find a good mk6😊
It's just so darn expensive.
Nice. Alas, won't be buying it in my lifetime 😢
What a classless comment.
For my taste the supreme tenor has a beautiful voice for jazz, but the supreme alto is a classical instrument.
I wish he would have played some altissimo
He did, on several occasions.
I didn't take note of the times they came up. I can let you know if you need.
Definitely heard altissimo.
Much more important than the fashionable altíssimos are his sound quality in the normal range and specially, for a tenor, in his low tones😊
@@HonestSaxSound-unEdited- just wanted to hear what it could do that’s all. Everyone has different tastes.
12 years? Hope they have been in Germany and Taiwan to learn how to make great big bore saxophones.. 🎷
Change neck; bigger or smaller bore? Smaller pad cups with make it more difficult to repair/repad in 30 years 😮
Is this considered a demo model since it’s been demo’d
Looks like they have copied a few litlle details from Yamaha to me, no over impressed.
It's a good tenor. Not much worse, nor much better than other good tenors. Although I personally think, by listening to both, that Yamaha Atelier is a better instrument than this Supreme.
@@zvonimirtosic6171 i have seen you have very good criteria normaly, but not this way.. Yamaha never sounds better than Selmer!
Yamaha is may be the best built all saxes.. but Selmer was and it is the best sounding without doubts.
@@HonestSaxSound-unEdited- I'm writing about a specific model, not about the entire catalogue of products. I can hear that Selmer's Supreme Tenor is more agile and consistent than Yamaha's 62 tenor. But Supreme Tenor is not as agile, nor as sumptuous nor consistent as the Atelier Tenor from Yamaha. And there are other great tenors by other manufacturers that can compare with Supreme. That being said, the asking price for Supreme is beyond ridiculous; anyone who is justifying it, is deaf, biased or preposterous.
Saxporn
JIM you need to work on your tone.
Over 10 000 dollars : not for me !!
low whistle
Your link takes us to the alto 🗑️
Yeah
My yanagisawa sounds better than the suprême and has à better construction. Come on , and the price !? You can't justify that and I don't care who you are , this is another overpriced sax from selmer that only well known artists and an élite type of consumer can afford , I dont see how people are justify paying the same price of a vintage selmer on this newer one and even having a vintage sax for that price is a gamble cause you can find real dogs even in the vintage sax world , I Wonder if thé keywork is going to be as bad as one my buddy's selmer référence 36 ?
My friend teacher and musician was asked to promote Supreme, played on 3 and then said to me( not to music shop) that could take one as presented but not sorry that wasn't lucky.
It seems to sounds good but please put off the EQ, effects..the mic in video could be a Neumann TLM 102 and i'd like listen to the sound neautral..
The only effect is a dash of reverb. No EQ. The room is extremely dry so the reverb makes it a little more realistic. We close-mic so you hear as much of the sax as possible, and not the room.
Play like street musicians!
Keilwerth is better!
Just made conversation on Saxontheweb and wrote one negative thing about price. In a moment got the name " mobb" and risk to be my membership stopped!
Its the most expensive in their lineup? More than the overpriced bass sax?
Tests should be played with no effects into your iphone.
@@saxworldwide Oh, so there are no effects used in your test videos? Like reverb etc?
@@stangetz534 Just a touch of reverb. We record in a very dry room!
I don't like that sound. Generally modern saxophones are a disappointment. I protest against it. I have a Conn 6m, it sounds better than most modern instruments, but no one produces them, there is a technical condition not very good, but the sound is better. There are Selmer SBA and Mark VI, but they are also not produced, but they produce all sorts of junk. Why? When will this madness end? Why reinvent the wheel?
@@AlexVolkhin13 Without trying an instrument, you can't possibly know if it suits you or not. I respect the fact that you prefer vintage instruments, it's a matter of taste. Companies need to move forward, it's a matter of marketing and economics. There are modern instruments though, that are made with the vintage feel. So there's something for everybody and this is the good news!
@@AKapatsoris Without trying the tools, you will not be able to draw a conclusion in any way? Why? For example, we know a lot about the cosmos based on observations and theories. If you have experience with tools, eyes, ears and brain, then this is enough to form a hypothesis. Leave the sophistry to marketers. I expressed my opinion.
@@AlexVolkhin13 Haha!😅 we know nothing about cosmos.. nothing!. All are theories and CGI (computer generate image), not real fotos.. 90% lies!
So, friend.. go and try a Supreme.. and after them we can talk again😊
what a stupid move on selmer's part!...........instead of going back to what worked, they continue on making heavy machine hammered modified superaction 2 horns that all have a generic plain sound! personally, I will keep my three tenors, mark 6, 66r and yamaha yts875! i can clearly hear that this horn doesn't have the vibrancy and sweetness of a light weight/hard alloy of a hand-hammered horn!
what shocked me recently was trying one eastman's newest hornw hich by the way was the lightest of all the modern tenors in the showroom! i think this horn wasn't made for real players but weekend dreamers who have money to buy a horn that will be a show-off horn next to their high end audio system!
You need go and TRY a Supreme of this, and after them come back to talk again! Generic plain sound!.. in your ear only!!
Just compare MB , Lexus with Renoult, the same production policy, but promotion company is really strong can compare with promotion of KIA.
