- Celebrate Halloween with Pantera’s “By Demons Be Driven” and the legend of The Chupacabra from Puerto Rico!
The story of the Chupacabra may seem ancient, but this terror is as fresh and new as your favorite vintage bucket hat. Sightings of the Chupacabra were first reported in 1995. Yes, year between the releases of Far Beyond Driven and The Great Southern Trendkill. The earliest reports were not of the creature itself - just of its effects. Dead animals - cows, goats, chickens - drained of all their blood, with only two small puncture wounds to explain it. The damage echoed that of an earlier fiend - El Vampiro de Moca - the scourge of a small town in Puerto Rico, who, in 1975, ravaged the towns farm animals and similarly deprived the creatures of all of their blood. The Chupacabra remains elusive - sightings have been reported from Puerto Rico to the mainland of both North and South America, and as far away as India. Witnesses describe a large dog-like creature, rabid-seeming, with huge fangs and red eyes. While skeptics might sense an exaggeration due to fear, the witnesses know what they saw…

I saw them the first time as an 11 year old little girl and to this day it's the best concert I've ever been to. My mom listened to them so I knew some of the songs by then. It was just outside St. Louis in 96 ❤️ I can still feel the energy. Deftones played first, then White Zombie and finally this badass group! 🙌 Perfection!
Awesome I remember when this came and first heard on the radio headbanging in my truck in Interstate traffic! I saw Pantera many times nationwide in concerts in the USA since the beginning days! Always a kiss ass show and good times! Pantera forever for generations to come headbanging! Literally the first Pantera song i ever heard. Was school holidays when I was 14 and my half brothers were visiting from their dad's place. I was brought up on pop music and Christian rock and actually had to lie and say that Pantera wasn't going to he a bad influence, after a little coercion from my bro!
Was the summer of my musical awakening as by the time they went home, I was the proud owner of Sepultura's Roots, Demanufacture by Fear Factory, and Far Beyond Driven (with the soon outlawed obscene cover art. Thank you Sanity Australia!). Vulgar joined the list not long after my brothers went home and thus was born a decade of an intense love affair with metal. While I have mellowed in my age, I can still picture that tiny lounge room when I hear Phil belt out the lyrics "by demons, be driven!".
Thanks for the memories lads. Still miss you Dimebag, you are one of the fuckin GOAT!

Remember the first time I heard this song. Instantly fell in love with it. This was probably...1996, which was also the time I started playing drums. Three days later, first attempt at playing, it was bad. I've got much better over the last 25 years. Love me some Pantera, always will. If the tribute tour ever comes to be, I will be there!
