  • This video shows an in depth look at all of the machines I use to build my custom cabinets in my cabinet shop. Machines such as table saws, jointer, planer, drum sander, miter saw, castle pocket cutter, multi spindle boring machine, edge sander, band saw, drill press, router tables and the dust collection system. The work flow is explained from the moment materials enter the door to the finishing room they end up in for paint or staining. I cover the different work benches and table setups I utilize in the cabinet building process. If you have any questions or comments please let me know or what the next video you'd like to see.     Great video, brother. This was helpful for me as I’m just starting to make the transition from hobbyist to a professional cabinet maker myself. I think it’d be really good if you made an instructional video on how you do your arched panel doors.

    I really enjoyed this. It’s always great to watch people who are working in the trade. I do like many of the diy and semi-pro channels, but it’s always fun to watch a professional channel. I’ve been in a woodworking trade for fifty years. The changes in, and availability of excellent tools has exploded in the last fifteen years. I hope you have the time to keep it up, and I look forward to watching more!

    I am a finish carpenter that builds smaller cabinet jobs like builtins , vanities, or jobs larger shops like yours makes no sense to build! Besides trimming houses or setting new doors for customers ect.,. ( I am a contractor). So I am always looking for pro carpenters/ cabinet makers to pick up tips ect.,. I truthfully never watch anything but pros so I am thankful to find you!
    I am always looking on great tips for building doors and drawers ? I do lock-miters , stop dados , but looking forward to your technique? ( now I understand if you order out?)

      I built my doors since day one. About three years ago I started ordering them to keep up with the jobs that started getting larger as I’m just one guy in my shop. I do make my drawers though. I plan on doing a video on both

    Wow, nice shop and well edited. You have many directions to present. Watch others content and find the rarely displayed in cabinet making. I see a lot of content on actual build but I would love to see from client concepts and ideas to finished product. If you’re working with architect/designer and provided drawings it would be nice to see how you execute on that route. I’m sure you work with builders and homeowners that might rely upon your design/build experience. These are two very different ways to build. Nice vid!

    Great first video! I look forward to more. A couple of ideas for videos. I'd like to understand your paint process and why you use airless instead of HPLV. Also how do you handle stains if you're doing that. Seeing your face frame process would be great as well. I saw another comment mention a build all the way through, and I agree that would be good. It would likely prompt more questions that could make for good content.

    Nice! Appreciate seeing how the pros do it. Very clean shop. I didn’t see a shaper or big router in your tour. Just the small one. Is that all you use to shape panels, stiles and rails?

      Just a couple 3hp router tables. I started ordering doors 3 years ago after years of making them. Although I can make any doors on the router tables

    There are lots of videos on TH-cam that show basic cabinet construction and styles, but those are becoming boring. I would love to see the intricacies and variation of full build outs from a professional. “A day in the life of a cabinet maker” would be awesome vs, the many who want to quit their job to make random videos.

      @@Mostviews111 it was green legs and orange support arms that I painted. Same general stuff in most warehouses. I cut a 16’ leg in half

      @@kevindunne9367 thank you Kevin. The racking is out of an old warehouse. The legs were originally green and the arms were orange. Probably could find it on marketplace for sale easily.

    Why put plywood on high shelves?

      The plywood I use 95% of the time are on shelves from ankle to chest height. What you see above that is random rarely used sheet goods

    Very nice shop love the assembly table gonna use that for sure but im interested if you ever do chipboard or mdf and edge any of that stuff and if so whats your system for doing so?

      Thanks a lot let me know how you like it. I do not use chipboard, melamine or mdf on cabinets. The very little edge banding I do is on plywood adjustable shelves

      @@Eyeofthestorm-zw1fe if it’s a stained shelf or painted to match the interior of said cabinet it’s a solid hardwood shelf. If it’s a pre finished maple ply to match the interior of the cabinet it’ll be an edging off a roll to match.

      What is your method of applying that do you use a heat gun and trim it by hand or use a jig?

      @@Eyeofthestorm-zw1fe fastcap makes a great self adhesive banding or simply using an iron for the glue back banding. I’m not doing a ton of that type of work as everything I build is frame frame cabinets
