This video rocks. I’d love to see more on BR. I’ve got tons of great late 90s BR that I wear on a regular basis. I also have pieces that I bought brand new 20 year ago that still look new. As an elder millennial I can say BR used to be an experience. It fades but now it’s back. Have you seen that they launched a home goods collection?! They seem to be thriving.
Side note: those vintage BR catalogs remind me very much of J Peterman. Which has amazing quality items. And they also instantly reminded me of the Duluth Trading Co catalogs now.
I used to get J Peterman (yep, the same company from Seinfeld) catalogs in the mail in the early 90s and their catalogs were filled with storytelling and myth just like those BR catalogs. Weird thing is that there were no real photos of clothing, just sketches. I really liked the styling of the clothing during their "transition" period. It was more like sleek no frill city safari.
This was the first video of yours I saw a few months back and I instantly subscribed. Love your style and of course this niche topic. At some point, I'd love a nice vintage Banana Republic leather jacket.
I’m not super familiar with Tilley but seems like an apt comparison. And the yeah the traveler pants. I owned a pair. Just remember them being vvvvery stretchy.
I've found a few pieces where the tag said "safari and travel clothing". So cool.
Yup!

Banana Republic was my all time favorite store!! I still have a flight suit!
Hold on to it!
Yes I remember those catalogues and loved the Tshirts with exotic animals and ppl on Safari. ❤❤
The catalogs are something else

This is such a good video, subbed. Would love to know how you made it so well lol
Thanks! And I learned all I know from TH-cam.
Crazy good channel bro you got a bright future
I love the banana republic safari line
So the early BR was the US version of Tilley Endurables. I do like their Traveler pants for comfort.
I’m not super familiar with Tilley but seems like an apt comparison.
And the yeah the traveler pants. I owned a pair. Just remember them being vvvvery stretchy.
You should do J Peterman next!
I’ll consider
Is that a vintage polo camp collar shirt in the background
Good eye sir!
I still have 2 shirts I bought back in the early 1980s
Hold on to them!
how do you feel about the brand post-rebrand?
Haven’t had much exposure to it. At a quick glance styling looks decent but can’t speak to quality.
Mate what’s that striped shirt in the back??
Vintage Polo Ralph Lauren camp shirt. Covered in race horses. One of my favorites.
Panama Jack
Similar vibes in some ways
Modern Banana Republic looks so dead and boring looking at the vintage stuff it had waaay more personality.
