    Grats on the new gig. I like that there's structure to the info presented. Just dial back the superlatives, I felt they could have given you a box with bicycle wheels and you could would have praised it. It was almost satirical.

    I love it guys! This was terrific as it highlighted important quirks in the vehicle that aren't mentioned often. Cup holders and car seats matter to many of us. I know Roman and Nathan speak of these things from time to time but this type of video just seemed more thought out. Not that I don't enjoy some thrashing on the track still. Keep up the work guys and I enjoy your diversity.

    Great new segment, I think there's a load of potential for it. Definitely love all the real-world usability and touchpoint analysis.

    I love the concept. The writing is gorgeous and the audio is clear. I think if it's "quick" pics, try to tighten to 5 minutes? Or mix some video in with the still photos? For the personalization - I would maybe end with "Buy this car if you're want (insert 3 reasons)" or something like that. Overall, another great video from TFL :)

    Yet another tool in your toolbox, This is another way to keep the show fresh. While on the subject may I suggest a new opening theme song. Perhaps using a song every day about a car or driving like Born to Be Wild one day and Springsteen must have about a hundred songs about cars. Then there's Little Deuce Coupe.....

    Excellent review, super informative! Looking forward to following more from TFL. The Yaris does look great, especially in this color combination. As the small segment gains even more traction I think that Toyota has the right idea. I would need one with a real shifter though. Keep up the good work guys!

    The chasis and guts of the 2015 yaris are the same as the 2007, the outside looks amazing but the interior i think its a step down from the 2007 model. The 2007 model had the cup holders on top close to the doors and rearview mirrors and it was so Amazing I think its a drawback of any car that doesn't have them there. also interior room was better distributed specially upfront and the sliding back seat was a life saver for me many times

    The key to a fun Yaris is se trim with a 5spd. I actually drove one and it was strangely fun to drive. It felt like more hp than it is. Now this was in 2013. This new front nose is.......uh...well....tragic

    So, a Yaris SE or a Corolla S? If you're going to put an "S" or "SE" on your car, it should be more than a body kit and fancy wheels. Does it have the same suspension as a standard Yaris? I like the way both the Corolla S and the Yaris SE look, but I would like something to back that up.

    • @DanReviewsCars
      @DanReviewsCars 10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      WikdSeafood - Yaris SE, unless you need a real trunk or more front-seat legroom. This car does have a "sport-tuned" suspension (with SE trim), and the difference is noticeable. Torsion beam rear axle isn't really much of an issue in a car this light. Corolla is still a great car for the money, though - definitely drive both.

    Until Toyota updates the rest of the car I'd pick a Honda Fit over this.

    • @penvon
      @penvon 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Meh,the Honda Fit for some reason looks like baby shoes.That sharp front is not appealing at all.imo

  • @kc5077
    @kc5077 10 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Anyone looking at a Yaris should look at a Corolla. In the South East the Corolla L is $16k and Corolla LE $17k with rebates before haggling. The Camry SE is $21k, I know you guys go off of MSRP to keep thing consistent but the Yaris' small rebates and profit margin(haggle room) make it a poor value.

    • @1guyin10
      @1guyin10 10 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      If you look at the sales numbers it is very clear that almost everyone looking for a low cost Toyota buys the Corolla. Toyota sold 1,605 Yarises (Yari?) in the US in December. The same month they sold 30,125 Corollas. The Corolla may actually return better fuel economy as well.

    • @kc5077
      @kc5077 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      1guyin10 I totally agree, the Corolla is faster, bigger, and still gets better mpg. That's why I don't know why they're so in love with the Yaris. In most trims it's more expensive than a Corolla. To be fair the Yaris should be replaced in a year or two.

    Why should someone take this car over the '15 Honda Fit? Genuine question.

    • @DanReviewsCars
      @DanReviewsCars 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Bati Tsogtsaikhan The fit is a great car. In "SE" trim though, the Yaris is a better handler (IMO). Way down on power, but I feel it's a more engaging chassis. Also has a volume knob.

    • @demoncleaner80
      @demoncleaner80 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      @danreviewscars Curious about the comparison in leg room. I'm about 6'1" so pretty concerned about long drives (don't make that many, but you know, they'll happen..)

    • @DanReviewsCars
      @DanReviewsCars 10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +demoncleaner80 - I'd say anyone over 6' would struggle with leg room up front. Even resting my left foot in the space between the dead pedal and brake pedal, I'd have maybe an hour before I was sore. Either way, I have pretty long legs, so I'd suggest sitting in one before confirming.

    • @demoncleaner80
      @demoncleaner80 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      @danreviewscars I meant between the Yaris and Fit, sorry :) I seem to remember Nathan complaining about the Fit's driver seat not going back far enough.
      I like the Yaris, and the Fiesta for that matter, but I feel like both would feel incredibly small to me, being a larger guy.

  • @smibru

    The car looks excellent, but the power train isn't from 2007 it is much older than that. 2007 or 2006 is when Toyota started sell the car in the states. The power train is from 2002 or 2003! Great video! Price for this car is way too high! just my opinion. I would buy one thought but not at that price.

      ***** Or you could buy a used BMW...

    • @1guyin10
      @1guyin10 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      ***** Toyotas in general may have better resale, but not the Yaris. It is projected to lose 67% of its value over 5 years, which is about 10% higher than that Cruze. Subcompacts just don't hold their value very well in the US. (The opposite side of the equation is that if you need a commuter-mobile and a subcompact works for you then a used one is usually available at near "stole it" prices.)

    • @TheCobruhAlienat0r
      @TheCobruhAlienat0r 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      ZNormT6
      People buy a Yaris or a Cruze to save money or because its all they can afford. A BMW is everything but cost efficient or cheap in terms or repair cost.

      Josh McCarthy maybe like a 1.8 6 speed auto 135 HP would be a nice power train and offer a leather model would be nice to compete with Honda fit

    • @ItsJosh
      @ItsJosh 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      They would keep the 1.5 abdominal gut the power up to at least 120HP, and 40 mpg.

    7 min and its called quick? Take his naration, cut it by 2 mins, put him on video saying it while showing us around the car and give driving impressions. Guys video is tried and tested, these still images is good for a quick slide between video for clearer/more details, but its kinda boring. I got to say he seems pretty cool, just this format, meh.

    • @TFLcar
      @TFLcar  10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for the comment but you just described every single car review video on youtube. If you ask us doing the same thing that everyone else is doing is crazy boring.

    • @enemay
      @enemay 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      ***** Ooh man that's a tough one, for me the picture are great for the detail, so since it's not moving you can look at it longer with scrutiny...If you really insist on just picture...I'm really thinking hard here, cause this being youtube, like my OP I said video; usually the host being in most the shot explaining away the features, is tried and tested formula. Well I guess to make this more interesting you can have a small part of the video where you do side by side comparisons of nearest competitors from same angles; front side back, interior. But I really have to say, I've yet to see a successful channel that does picture car reviews. I mean cars are not static objects, they have all sorts of moving parts, chair, door, steering wheel...maybe its just me, but there's something about seeing the host open the door and get in and out of the back seat to demonstrate how much space and comfort, or turning on that engine and seeing the instrument cluster come alive, and of course even more important, drive. so I'm only being honest here, I think you may have your work cut out for you given the current pictures only format. I really hope you prove me wrong...Or hey here's an idea, if you can have for example a Mazda 3 and a Honda Civic at the same day you can stop people and take pictures of them posing with each car, and ask them which do you like better or imagine yourself owning, then tally up the score, maybe that could be kinda cool.

    • @enemay
      @enemay 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      The Fast Lane Car Not to be cheeky. But why, do you think your videos, with the presenter is in most of the shots, talking about every features, front back seat comfort, cargo space, instrumentation, giving their driving impressions is boring? of course not right? It's only boring if you have a boring host and reading the spec sheet, its even worst if the camera angles and editing and sound is all wrong, I don't think you guys have a problem with any of this. Like I said the host in this seems pretty cool, its just the pictures format, maybe a little challenging. In my opinion a car review on youtube ought to be in video not slides, pictures are maybe just supplements.

    Jeepers, I hope TFLCARS is getting serious $upport from manufacturers for spots like this one on the Yaris.
    I've been schmooooozed.
    The new Yaris is a new body on a lot of old tech. Still anemic performance WITH mediocre gas mileage at a NOT SO bargain price.
    I sure hope TFLCars still will do critical appraisals, not sales!
    I've told friends to come here for REAL REVIEWS, not sales marketing!

    • @DanReviewsCars
      @DanReviewsCars 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      David Silva - Not paid off by manufacturers. Sorry. More critical appraisals will apply to cars that shoot for the moon and totally miss. This one suits its intended purpose well. Just my 0.02.

  • @VideoSack
    @VideoSack 9 ปีที่แล้ว

    It's a reality today but that doesn't make it right. What I'm talking about is highlighting cellphone storage and accessibility. At a time when this is reaching a fever pitch and governing bodies are getting serious about cellphone usage while driving this should not be a plus. Cellphones need to be stowed, if they need a quick charge then fine but keep them stowed. As a longtime motorcyclist I think I speak for others when I say they serve as indirect killers and not just of riders. What else can I say and we all know exactly what I mean!
