Peter, I'm so sorry to see that the "on the grow" people comment such things here. This is beyond rude.. "On the grow" please patent your setup if you have fear of copying (if you can)!!! You know, no one uses YOUR setup, this is microgreens setup... Shame!

If your using the Ocean Solution, then why use the Coconut Coir? You could save money by not using it since it has nothing in it. The roots going through a mesh tray with Ocean solution and water on the bottom is all you should need. Right? Also, what's wrong with an organic Soil that has organic nutrients in it?

I really like watching your videos. You have some really good ways of doing things which I now will do instead of the way I was doing such as checking twice a day in the germination stage. I used to lose a lot of seed that stuck to the bottom of the tray and fall off. Can someone tell me how long you do the lights in a 24 hour period for best results. I do about 17 hours on and 7 off now.

What is the water PH? Is PH an issue? Also some cities have chlorinated water. Im guessing I need to filter it regardless of the water source and chemicals like chlorine..? If so, what would you recommend? love your videos! :)

Hey I used some of this fertilizer on my pea sprouts and I actually got more off of the tray that wasn't fertilized. Maybe I used too much? I diluted it to 1.5 oz per gallon and I got around an oz. more off of the one that didn't get fertilized. Idk what went wrong. I'll probably end up trying it with a few more varieties at a higher dilution rate

I'm planning on using fish fert. I'm of the belief that plants are always on the hunt for food when they're growing at all stages, I've just noticed you have to go reaaaallly easy and higher on the PK end than the N end, because thing like radish, etc. shoot that true leaf right out with too much nitrogen.

As organic as you can get next to water? Water is oxygen and hydrogen, you need to have carbon to be organic. So water is actually about the most inorganic as you can get!

i was very intriged by the video and went to the website and download the detail composition. it is just the sea water basically. They don't take out the Nacl which is the main ingredient and it is not good for plant. the other metals are very insignificant.

@@PrincetonMicrogreensAnyone know if there has been an assay done to show the micro-greens actually taking up the minerals from mineral/nutrients?
I use SEA 90. So far great results. I used miracle gro in a test and it did make a difference in cotyledon size and overall height. Looking for organic fertilizer now.

How do you know that ocean solution doesn't contain any microscopic plastic particles?
Shouldn't that be a genuine concern?

Do you have to ph balance your nutrient water when you use the ocean mineral fertilizer?

    • @grindabrasion7013
      @grindabrasion7013 ปีที่แล้ว

You could but I don't think it's too important since you're only growing the plants for a short time. Since you're not growing them to maturity, you won't run into any issues with soil ph or lockouts.

We were giving our left over coir to a local farm, but recently are in works with signing up with Kona Composting from Pennsylvania.
      www.konacompost.com/services
They pick up all your composting bi-weekly for $19 a month!
Not sure if you have any services like that in your area.

@@PrincetonMicrogreens We're just starting to do Microgreens for ourselves, but we are also do outdoor gardening and we might have to expand the composting area to compost this too now... Hopefully we'll get to cut back on our compost purchasing at least.

You can’t filter out salt from salt water. You distill it. So that ocean water is basically distilled water with probably some minerals added.

  • @JM-gs5jn

Here is the catch......do you have any idea who your audience is? I am sure that most of the people that watch your videos do not have a microgreen business or sell any of their crop. Time under the lights and 10% crop yields don't mean much to the recreational/hobby grower. All this does is confuse people. The home grower doesn't need this at all....and the business microgreen growers al ready know this info. Keep it simple....nutrients are not needed.
