just in case anyone is struggling with this: To get these settings under initialize you have to click on one of the subtools that havent been converted to a polymesh3d ie the tools in the palette that are there when you start zbrush. If you click on a polymesh3d subtool and pick the spiral, it will already have been intialised and wont have the extra options etc This goes for all tools: sphere, cube, cone. They can all have their attributes changed this way before initialisng them...

make sure the helix is a primitive, not a polymesh3d (so don't append / insert it).
