    You can imagine the proud owner driving it out of the showroom in '56, and the excited family running out to see it on the driveway.
    Love your channel.

    Someone suggested to remove the carpet for cleaning, good idea that will result in nice carpets, but keep the pressure low so it doesn't tear the carpet. The material in the seats is going to be a serious issue. Beautiful in tact car worth doing right!

    Those auto polishes have oils to make the finish look shiny ...but you have to actually cut into the finish to remove the oxidized paint otherwise soap and the elements will make it look dull all over again.

    Hi Randy you might want to take out the horn ring and polish it by its self. That's a good one and too try to find another one for less than $500.00 is pretty hard. I redid a 55 Chrysler that uses the same ring. I hunted swap meets for two years before I found a good one, there pot metal and brake easy. Parts for that car are not easy to find, but I saw there were more cars there. Very nice car I love the 55-56 Chryslers. Good luck will follow along

    Interesting that the AAMCO receipt shows a date of 8/67 and the black license plate sequence. The plates on her now are from around 1982-3. I wonder why the switch? Also, wait until you see how the rear side windows work. Wonderful engineering for what turned out to be for 1 year only.

      The Aamco receipt was a previous owner. I assume the plate swap was done at that time.

    Beautiful! Wish I could afford this. Wouldn't be a project for me and my boys but I was really hoping the frame damage wasn't so bad on the 54 Squire! Also if it had a title would have helped.

  • @SpockvsMcCoy

    The carpets are so dirty that they should be removed and pressure washed. If you try to scrub them with a brush while inside the car the dirt will wear down the fibers.

  • @donaldk.macbaird5248

    If that is real leather on the seats get you some saddle soap to soften and clean the seats

    Please leave the chips and the light scratches. Touching them up is like retoring a piece of furniture. You ruin the value. Plus it's part of the cars history. The eats and headliner I can see restoring them. Beautiful car. Great videos as always.

    I wish I could talk you into getting the Beige one with the rose roof too, Could you imagine pulling into a Show, Cars and Coffee or Cruise in with one following the other? Every eye in the place would be on them! By the way, If you can't sew the headliner back in place a last ditch effort to keep it in place is to poke holes along the edges of the pieces and use small zip ties to ''stitch'' it back together and over the bows! I know it is crude but it'''s a lot better than tearing it out! I have a 68 Pontiac Catalina 4 door sedan that I tried red duct tape to keep it from falling and when it didn't work so I tore it out only to see a video 2 days later with the guy using zip ties to ''sew his headliner back in! It didn't hang down so it wasn't real noticeable! How often do you look up at your headliner? Keep polishing! Can't wait until you get it done, And the Cadillac too, It is a beautiful car!

    • @Carchaeology
      @Carchaeology  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Zip ties? Interesting... If I were to grab another Imperial from that stash it would be the two door in green... but this one is more than enough. I’ve really got to get back to Pearl and finish her off , but I just couldn’t resist the opportunity to run the buffer on this one for a moment!

    • @dannycasler4959
      @dannycasler4959 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The zip ties are a last ditch effort to keep from having to buy a new headliner and when you are selling the car as most of us do after cleaning these old cars up and getting them running you can always tell potential buyers the elderly gentleman that owned the car did it and it and you found it so ''charming'' you didn't have the heart to take it out! I would have tried to get those tires to seal and leave the car on stands and the tires out in the sun to see if the take shape, I know they're old but they were in out of the sun so they may not be bad especially for a car that doesn't get driven far! In fact the older they are the better The tires made in the USA is a lot better rubber! I have a set of tires from 1975 that have been inside most of their lives and they look almost new and the rubber is still soft!

    cool car. I'm no expert, but I think you should hire an experienced detailer to bring that interior/exterior back to life. I'm sorry to say this, but I think you're doing as much damage as fixing it, the way you're going about it.

    • @Carchaeology
      @Carchaeology  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Right or wrong I do things my way and have been very successful with my results. One of the original survivor cars I have worked on went on to win the HVA / FIVA preservation award at a high level concours event a couple years back. I’ve been at it 30 years now, yet there is always something new to learn. I do however have my “pro” that I call in for special challenges.

    Ok, that canister on the left fender, (passenger side) what is that....I've never seen that before. I had a 56 Imperial and mine did have that.
