  • This is a combination of two hunts in one of the rivers in North Canterbury. It usually has a few pieces of petrified wood to be found.

    Great video. That little amazing piece you picked from the river was awesome. Strange, There was so beautiful scenery and the bird calling with nature sounds. That's so cool rockhounding today too.

    That was so cool! There was a lot of petrified wood in that area! That big chunk was amazing! And the big log looking piece at the end had some beautiful wood grain and color still left! When you cant tell if its wood or pet wood, you know its a gorgeous piece of pet wood, and nice size too! And the jasper and the chalcedony finds were nice too. But im always partial to petrified wood! Great hunt and thanks for sharing!

      Yeah, this area is known for petrified wood, I love going there every now and again when the tides are wrong. The wood grain on it was amazing! Thanks so much for joining me on the patreon channel as well 😁

    Great hunt I love petrified wood, just beautiful. Last trip I had over the ditch I purchased pounamu necklace for my goddaughter. I just love the spiritual meaning and story behind it. Just amazing. Thankyou Mamlambo 👍🇦🇺

    Gorgeous finds! Love petrified wood. Those chalcedony agates are beautiful too, especially the second nodule, almost polished by the river/stream. The petrified wood is so cool from smaller and very blonde to bigger with better wood grain and to darker and really amazing. Thanks for sharing your trip and awesome new beauties!✌️🤠

      My pleasure Kyla!! I'm glad you enjoyed it. That blueish polished agate looked very similar to gastroliths I have seen before 😀

    Well well what a surprise! I've been following your fossil channel for quite some time now.
    This is great! I've heard that New Zealand has some beautiful agates. I use to collect agate & petrified wood for many years. Now I'll watch you collect lol.
    Some nice finds in this episode. All the best from the land down under lol.

      Thanks so much Marie! Yes, we have a great amount of agates and petrified wood here in New Zealand and there are a large number of rockhounds, after every rain the rivers are full of people looking for agates!

    Is it possible to tell what kind of tree the petrified wood would be from?

    • @mamlamborocks
      @mamlamborocks  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      It could be, an expert would have to look at it. I've had some of my other pieces identified though.

    Really nice ! Do you have an idea of what age they are ? Probably difficult to tell as they're not in situ I guess.
