    FAQ
    ================================
    Q: How long was the trip?
    A: Around 18 days. But I would say it's doable in 2 weeks. If you want more time to explore then 3 weeks should be more than adequate.
    Q: How many days do I need in each city?
    A: I would say 3-5 days in Kyoto and Osaka. Nara 1-2 days. At least 4-6 days in Tokyo but the more the better.
    Q: How much did it cost?
    A: Excluding hotels + airplane tickets we had a budget of around 2000 USD
    Q: Is there vegan restaurant options in Japan?
    A: Yes, I found plenty, and most restaurants offer vegan-friendly meals
    Q: Which month did you go?
    A: We visited in July but I would recommend visiting in either the Autumn or Spring season
    Q: Where did you stay overnight?
    A: You can find links to the different accommodations above + alternatives.

    Few things, I live in Tokyo.
    Taxis aren't feasible in Tokyo, but in other cities, particularly in Kyoto, they are actually affordable.
    For internet, unless you are staying long-term a portable wi-fi hotspot is a better choice for your money rather than prepaid sim.
    You did alright on accomodation, but I think capsule hotels are overrated, as they generally aren't all that competitively priced. Hostels are cheaper, albeit with fewer amenities.
    Also careful throwing around recommendation to Yasakuni. Tourists are okay, but it's a highly politically controversial place here. Justin Bieber got some backlash for visiting recently. The emperor himself wouldn't be caught dead there.
    Convenience store food is great and awesome, but the hot meals you selected aren't very cheap. You're better off finding a cheap ramen shop, which can be half the price and cheap.
    A good Fushimi Inari tip, if you want those good photos without the crowds, go before sunrise. I'm serious. Get up at 4 or 5, take a cab there, and the sun should be cresting as you near the top.
    Well put together I'd say, especially if this was your first time to Japan

      Hi, you mentioned it’s better to have a portable wifi hotspot for internet than sim card, why is that? We’re going to Tokyo for 21 days and though we’d get a sim card than a portable wifi because it’s cheaper.

      This summer we went to Japan as a couple for 23 days, and with 2 phones and one notebook it was just easier to get a pocket wifi. We wanted unlimited data and fast enough speeds, and for 3 devices sim cards just wouldn't make sense. Of course if you barely use the internet and just need it for emergencies, maybe 3GB on one phone would be enough for you, in that case a sim card makes more sense. We paid around 12000 Yen (~100USD) for the pocket wifi for our whole trip, including shipping to our Airbnb. I would definitely do it again and 100% recommend it to anyone who wants to stay connected like at home.

    • @peachykeen1294
      @peachykeen1294 5 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@flamecore It depends you have to look up the pros and cons of a sim card vs a wifi, I gt a portable wifi as well and it wasn't very expensive so also checking rates might be a good idea. Also the pocket wifi I got was able to connect up to 10 devices and it had unlimited data, you should probably have a charger with you because they do have a limited battery life if you are taking them on the go between 8 and 12 hours.

      Stay away from Japan. Radioactive contamination problem is still ongoing problem in Japan. Almost 18,000 Japanese people died with cancer or leukemia caused by radioactive contamination from Fukushima. Stop eating radioactive contaminated food and water. Otherwise, you're going to get cancer, leukemia or infertility. Japan WAS good country but it's severely contaminated by radiation since Fukushima earthquake happened in 2011. Additionally Japanese government is trying to hide the truth about radioactive contamination. However, People have the right to know the truth and what's going on really in Japan.

      Hi. I met a Japanese lady in Spain. I was traveling with my family to our ancestor's homeplace, since most of them are from Spain, the interesting thing is that the Japanese lady spoke Spanish and English besides, of course, Japanese. I was thrilled to tell her about our Savior Jesus, how He loves all of us! What an amazing thing that love has no boundaries, and God loves us in all shapes and forms and everywhere, and from every nation He is seeking those who want to know Him through His Son Jesus. Best wishes to you and yours. John 3:16

    Here’s a huge comment.
    Wonderfull video, I’ve been obsessed with Japan and Im looking forward to visit such a wonderful place. I’m 22 years old and I really hope I can visit this place ASAP (before my 30s) that being said, I have a couple of questions for you if you don’t mind responding them. (I really hope you can see this)
    1. How big was your budget? I have some savings but I know this won’t be enough, I really want to visit every place from this video but I know this requires a lot of money
    2. How much did you and your brother spend?
    3. When is the perfect time to visit Japan? which month/season is the greatest and why?
    4. How long did you stay in Japan? since I want to visit every place on this video I think a month is perfect.
    Again, thanks for this video, this was amazing, I love the aesthetic, I used to love Japan but now I love it even more. Hope you have a great life and nice work!
    (sorry for my english, it ain’t my 1st language)

    • @AllanSu
      @AllanSu  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      1. Excluding airline tickets. We had a budget of around 2000 USD for each person.
      2. Pretty much our entire budget of 2000 USD.
      3. I would say there are two ideal seasons. Either during the fall for the change of leaves, or during spring for the sakura cherry blossom.
      4. A little over two weeks.
      Hope that helps!

    Allan! I'm flying to Tokyo in two months and I watch this video nearly every day. It's just so beautiful. Thank you for taking the time to make this!
    I'd really like to know if you have any tipps on how to film while traveling and still be able to be present in the moment. I feel like it could be overwhelming, trying to soak in the moment and getting the best shot at the same time..
    Love from Germany!

      A wise man once said to me:
      "Have you reached the point that you can't really enjoy anything without experiencing it through a lens?"
      While I must admit that I do constantly think about "could this be a good opportunity for some good footage". I don't really worry about it. I simply just film when I feel like it. So my advice would be just to let it be natural to you. If you feel like you're filming too much then stop and vice versa.

I love your emphasis on good eating - its the best thing about travel and the shots of you and your brother clearly enjoying your food made my mouth water. That's the only place in Japan to visit in July or August, even September, except maybe Nagano. Everywhere else is too hot and humid. Apart from Hokkaido, Summer is the worst season to visit Japan. Ok, maybe dressing up in Yukata and going and watching the Hanabi, and other Summer festivals is cool, but!

    I've been there in September and I actually did quite a few things you mentioned... E.g. the Michelin star Tantamen. I'll need to get back with more money though to step up my game. I mostly stayed in capsule hotels which was awesome considering that I always paid between 10-20$ per night. Also I usually didn't spend much more than 10$ per meal and ate at convenient stores a lot. The food is really good though.

      @@AllanSu 7 Eleven in japan is the best Allan! @Einfach nur Leo A great and different accommodation option in Tokyo is The Hokutosei Train Hostel in the Bakuro-cho area. Hokutosei was a famous night train in Japan until 2015. This hostel uses the bunks and furniture from the carriages of that train. I stayed there last year. It is literally right next to on one side a metro station entrance, and on the other side, a 7 Eleven :-)

    I loved how slowly you edited this video, too many others try to rush through things. Would you ever recommend doing any touristy attractions? Like bus/boat tour rides of areas to get your footing and learn about the area, food tours, etc.?

    • @AllanSu
      @AllanSu  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I'm all for touristy attractions such as tour rides for first-timers, especially if they make sense financially and timewise. To be honest, I wouldn't listen to anyone calling people out for visiting tourist traps. They are traps for a reason since it's usually must-visit places, and it would be odd not to at least see it once. It's like going to Paris without ever visiting the Eiffel tower. So do a tour if you feel it would benefit your trip.
      Personally, I usually only do tours if I feel I can't explore the areas easily by myself. Whether that is due to transportation or simply not being knowledgable enough. But I'll most often try and see if I can explore by myself before considering a tour/guide.
