Coming back to Caravanning after the kids had grown and left the nest, we've now been at it again for about 2 years. I'm amazed that so many have made mistakes, as have I. So glad to know that I'm not so dumb after all, but at the end of the day you live and learn. my most expensive was when I reversed the 'van into a post at the storage yard. £800 worth of damage. a tree would have been kinder I feel, but the light post never flinched. |I'm just glad that the 'van is as good as new again. Happy Camping and hope to see many more of your fun videos. Chris' Caravan Capers.
Motorhoming is more fun than we showed in this video. Life is full of those little challenges that take you by surprise so don’t be put off. We take everything in our stride these days and if one car park is out, another is usually ok 😃🚐 Trev
@@PoshcatsCamping, yes I’m sure we will be making lots of mistakes but learning from them. Ha ha Yes it really is worth checking which way you are travelling on a map or google as well as relying on the sat nav just in case. I know I’ve heard you say before that’s what you do but it really is worth it , thanks Trev , we are looking forward to getting out but will be nervous too. x
Have to say we’ve done the satnav error more than once too. Mallaig is a nice place, we took the Jacobite Express from Fort William to Mullaig, marvellous 👍
Nice to see you both. We just back from first 2 night trip and enjoyed it (I think)🤣looking at camps to book in Cotswolds and Lakes district. Exciting 👍 was bit cold but it is only early April. By the way we have called our Motorhome “Simpson” hah hah xx
Glad you had a good time out in your van. It is early season and summer camping is a whole different ball game. Seasons make it a lot of fun and can present some challenges too. Enjoy your planning and safe travels 😃👍🏻🚐 Trev
Just stumbled across your channel! Great to watch, really enjoyed it! I knew you were going to say about the black waste! - Been there 🤣We bought a second cartridge for those moments! 🥳😆👍🏽
Hey Trev and Sue! Nice to stumble upon your channel! It's nice to hear about the lessons you've learned with your van conversions. Love that you called one of your vans Bertie! Never even thought about height barriers... good point that they don't come up on a SatNav. You live and learn haha... loving your content!
Thank you and welcome 😃 We try to have fun with our channel and are out and about all year round, so hope you find more interesting stuff here with us. Safe travels 😃🚐 Trev n Sue
Just bought a new 2022 atlas today my old atlas was well out of date just to double check routes, yes parking was one of my bug bares with MH you could not alway rely on Google maps or Street view to check if it had a height barrier or if it had a place for overhang for MH
Can be quite stressful at times but we usually just smile and move on. The car is handy when it’s essential to get to somewhere though. I need a new atlas too. Mine got very dog-eared and ragged and I binned it when I got Smirf 😃🚐 Trev
Very lucky with that Ferry LOL. I always check the Sat nav and still it gets it wrong LOL Thank you for the shout out. Nice tips on the Islands they did not used to be like that. I guess things have changed.
The ferry was a blessing and the sun came out too 🤣 Cullen meant a lot to us and you deserve a shout out for making us feel so very welcome 🤗 The islands are beautiful but can be quite challenging if you are not prepared 👍🏻🚐 Trev
Oh heck…. So easily done. It was just a very bad day when that happened but thankfully we were just outside the rally field so our friends helped us reconnect and no harm was done except a broken safety wire 🤭👍🏻 Trev
The ferry was a happy mistake to make! Looking forward to seeing the height barrier video from your view. We both didn't take our cars at Eye Kettleby!
We’re doing well as a group here with navigation and sat nav… height barriers are a mare, seem to be getting more and more to “protect” areas from travellers etc… wasn’t a problem in our T5 VW… wildcamping takes a bit of planning until you’re used to it. 👍
How fortuitous, a lovely ferry ⛴ ride - not so much of a bad mistake 🤪. We wondered if the campsite with no facilities for black waste disposal would make an appearance 🤣. Enjoyed watching your video as always xx
Fantastic vlog Trev & Sue, reminds me of the time In 2004 we purchased our first brand new tow car, we arrived home i said to my wife I’m just going out to see if the caravan fits on the car ok. So on my own being clever I reversed the car back up to the tow hitch unaided, I got out & I was slightly short of the caravan hitch, as our driveway slopes down i dared not to release the caravan brakes. So I jumped back in the car reversed back slowly literally a few inches, when I walked around the back the caravan hitch obviously slightly low & had gouged across the colour coded bumper..I literally felt sick actually I’m not sure what was worse the damaged car or the extremely severe ear bashing from her indoors lol! We had driven the car home from the dealer & it had 5 miles on the clock. An expensive lesson learned however experienced lol🙆🏻♂️
Thank for your comments and your story. We had our Range Rover just a few weeks and I offered to tow someone’s caravan off a muddy pitch. Unfortunately they were in a hurry to detach it and didn’t wait for me to do it, they raised the caravan on the jockey wheel and it rolled onto our colour coded bumper. The worst thing about it was that the person denied they had done it !! So I had been a good Samaritan and paid for it with a damaged rear bumper. Just like you, I got an ear bashing from the guvner 😯 but lived to tell the tale 👍🏻😉 Take care 😃 Trev
sat navs again ! they really do have a mind of their own & those height barriers scare the hell out me trev , so easy to forget , totally agree with the toilet situation, last thing you want to be thinking about whilst away ! great video as usual trev & sue 👍😀
We tried not to moan in this one and see the bright side. It’s easy to make mistakes and let them get to you. Best thing is always take it on the chin and move on 👍🏻🤣 Trev
Hey hey. Felix from Happy Place Camping here. This is my new channel 😊. I agree that parking can be an issue. Even as small as our cargo camper is, sometimes it can be a hassle. Typically more when going into cities. This is part of the reason we built out the suv. Easier to navigate in some places. Nice subject to talk about. Can you imagine driving one of those 40 plus foot rigs and pulling a vehicle. Phew. No thanks lol.
Canterbury at 4:32 LOL!! I avoid joining any clubs - the Dover Road Park n Ride is better, cheap as chips, and complete with a bus service !!! No EHU, but if you want toast there's a pub next door! :) I've stayed for days and days on other sites and P&Rs for the saving made by not paying a 'club'. Why are clubs more expensive that better, alternative areas? Because they are businesses, masquerading as clubs.
Yes definitely agree that the Aire would have been better. I even considered it before I booked the Club site. There’s just a sense of better security when on sites rather than on an aire or in a pub car park etc. We did pay for it on this occasion though, £50 for taxis and very stressful evening. Lessons learnt 🙄 Trev

Thanks Chris, we are all human and I know we have made many more mistakes than we can remember. 😉🤣 Safe travels 👍🏻🚐 Trev

Interesting colab subject this month Trev and Sue. Thanks for sharing helps everyone else learn . Best wishes Helen and Martin
We waffled for 8 minutes 🤣🤣 thank goodness for the video clips 😉🚐 Trev
For a show in Canterbury it’s best to park in the ‘park and ride’ £8pernight & free bus into/out of the town
Thanks Lynda, I even considered that before I booked the campsite 🤦♂️ Definitely a mistake we won’t make in future. 🙂 Trev

Brilliant I have to say our caravan dropped off the car as we went over the first speed bump when leaving a camp site 🙃
Oh heck…. So easily done. It was just a very bad day when that happened but thankfully we were just outside the rally field so our friends helped us reconnect and no harm was done except a broken safety wire 🤭👍🏻 Trev
My sat nav tried to take me through a cow field once in my car, lol xx
Oh no !!😯 That could be risky 🤣🤣 We love cows but I think I would be very worried if my sat nav took me into a field of cows 🐮🤣 Trev
@@PoshcatsCamping 🤣😂
Thank you for the insight, you would never know form your videos that you made mistakes, apart from the recent country park visit. Take care Gill
We are lucky some of the time but then every now and again….. well you know what we mean 😉😃 Trev
If it's night time and raining, I found the drain tap was accedentaly left open, traveling on a Country Road.
Oh yes, I have wondered why we ran out of water so soon too 🤣🤣 We do get in a pickle sometimes 😉👍🏻🚐 Trev

Yes that was probably a mistake too both left cars at home 🤣🤣 Trev

I think I’ll let some air out of my tyres and give those height barriers a go 🤣🤣 Trev
H i you two..where was that large beach that you included...have fun this summer...
Ardroil Beach in the Isle of Lewis, Outer Hebrides, Scotland 🏴 beautiful place 😉 thanks Andrew 🚐 Trev

We are from Suffolk but the Norfolks are our neighbours and we do talk similar 😉 Trev
Sometimes the best adventures happen when you get lost.
Oh that’s sooo true. We were full of smiles on that ferry and the day got better and better with our unplanned adventure 😃🚐 Trev

Definitely agree, it was a lovely route with plenty to see 😃👍🏻🚐 Trev

No way…. We are going to head your way in June. I will pm the dates so we can share a pie and a pint 🍺 👍🏻 Trev
@Poshcats Camping Sounds good

Hopefully yes 🤣 but not guaranteed 🤣🚐 Trev

Very true Peter. Oscar wouldn’t settle until we turned the camera off 🤣🤣 Trev
