I wonder how many machines got scraped because of simple things like this. I found car wire a great replacement for different wires. Great video. Take care.
@@TheGreasyShopRag, watched some of your stuff a year or two ago then for whatever reason haven't seen you in a long time. I just bought a Huskie 450 refurb so looked it up and found you again. I like the narration style you use because you deliver a prepared thought process as you go thru the repair. Thinking out loud. I like that style...can learn a lot from it. Thx.

Scott, in your pile of parts, you wouldn't happen to have a recoil for this saw? Just got one where the owner drop started it and broke the helper spring. Instead of calling me, he threw it out and ordered a Chinesium standard recoil. Thanks, Kenny
I tested the ground, it was ok. I bought a Chinesium coil as the original one for the 450e II is NLA. Bad choice. Runs but like crap, dies in the wood. Need to find an OEM coil. Was told a 579 63 88-04 will work? Any OEM coils (579 63 88-03) on your shelf you are willing to part with?
Dunno, I have the day off and don't have one at home. When I look up the 450e II it shows me a coil number of 579638805. I assume this is a superceded version of the 03 coil. Its weird because the 04 coil (back ordered) doesn't supercede to the 05 in my cart.

I'm a owner and repairman for my chainsaws and this issue is blowing my mind. I've got a 450E ii saw that only has 3-4 hours on it. it ran great up until 6weeks ago. i was running great and all of a quick just died. after the same thing happened to my 455 Rancher i started to look. my log splitter a few days before died also. the only common factor was the gas. i drained the fuel bowl of the splitter and it fired right up. Water in the gas. about a pint in a 2.5g gas can. so i mixed new gas and drained the old out and the 450 wouldn't start. the rancher started right up. the 450 would once in a while make a POP sound but that's all. the spark plug end was wet but not soaked. i changed out the filter and air filter. still the same pop. so i took it to a Husqvarna repair dealer and they had it for about 10days and came back and said it had low compression 120 vs 180 and to repair it would be over $300 in parts. so they said it was a dead saw.... so since then i've replaced the piston, piston ring, cylinder, spark plug, carb, primer bulb, both fuel lines. the old piston looked fine and the old ring looked in good shape. i still get a blue spark from the plug when i touch it outside of the hole. i don't get the POP anymore, just nothing now. today i checked the resistance on the 2 wires out of the coil and that are both .2ohms from one end to the other. i've never had an chainsaw do this to me. any suggestions?
good idea, but i pulled off the flywheel last night and the key in the flywheel appears to be rounded, but it also look like the slot the key goes in the shaft is rounded also. i cleaned all the parts and slid the flywheel back over the shaft and surned it until it fell down into the key. so the key looks like it is fixed into the flywheel not removeable. thanks
@@TheGreasyShopRag Thanks for your great videos here. So i got a new coil off Amazon just to try, and after putting the coil on it fired up on the First pull. i was still getting a little spark out of the plug before i changed it. So either a bad wire to the plug boot, or a bad coil. It's fixed Thanks again

We see it all the time. Sometimes I think people are just looking for excuses to buy new equipment.

Tom does a great job explaining it.
My brother in law purchased a Husqvarna 440. I know there's an "E" version with that tool-less chain adjuster. I'm glad he didn't get the "E" version.
Ya I don't care for that toolless adjuster.

Would you ever consider making a video on advice to someone looking to open up a small engine repair shop ?

i'm leaning to a faulty coil that possibly is giving a little spark but not enough to ignite the gas air.
@@glmsas1 You could test that theory if you had a spark tester that had a 6mm gap. If it can jump that then its not a low voltage problem.
