This WILDLIFE WALK nearly ended badly!

- Join me for a wildlife walk at RSPB Strumpshaw Fen in Norfolk, which almost ended in disaster. From now on, I will make sure I have something waterproof with me to put my camera in if it rains.

What a fantastic video. I must go and explore this place. I am often near this area. I get a great spotted woodpecker in the woods opposite my house and I hear him start hammering the same time every year, he should be around anytime soon.

10 out of 10 for getting the stoat on video - they're so fast and don't break cover often so even spotting one is lucky. 😄
Incidentally, I'm told by farming people that moles only come to the surface a couple of times per day, and only at certain times, so it might be worth noting what time it was when you saw the one in the video if you want to spot them in future.
I have never been able to see a woodpecker drumming or a mole surface. Thanks for braving the weather to let us see these beautiful things.

Really enjoyed this, Liam. The stoat was a real bonus - have seen the odd one or two but NEVER been able to film one - or photograph one. And how good was that to see the LTT nest! Great selection of birds and wildlife and the commentary was excellent, and with just the right amount of humour, and interesting facts.
Lovely video, reminds me a little of Brownsea Island with their bird hide and Sika deer. Always great to visit these areas especially now to see all the spring activity of the birds. Thanks for all your work, really enjoyable.
Brownsea also has red squirrels
@paulwarner5674 yes, I saw just the one when I was there - quite small I thought compared to the grey but beautiful colour and a joy to see.

Absolutely great video, I don't usually watch these sort of videos but clicked on it as am getting more interested in birds ,have subscribed as you do a great job explaining everyone of the birds to, they are so clever with their nest building, I took my dog for a walk today and watched some crows building their nest, weaving the sticks in and out ,totally fascinating ,thanks for this and greetings from Penzance Cornwall

Once you've seen corvids nesting it's impossible to deny thier superior intelligence. Crows are brilliant at teamwork and can do things like removing an entire slice of pizza from a bin without losing the olives. Once bits drop off and they're tempted to eat the thing they become a tad less civilized, but they are amazing.. 👍
Those long-tailed tit nests are wonders of bird engineering. Light, almost spherical, snug inside and with a small aperture. My nephew played football with one and it was durable enough to retain its shape with only a little fraying.
This HAD to be rewatched. Sir David Attenborough MUST see this. I just KNOW that he will love it. I was enchanted by the Chinese water deer, and the story with the robin, mole and worms was fabulously real. I have seen a stoat, once I woke up under trees and saw him/her eating my salted peanuts. I saw another, zipping by, not unlike your one here, but the peanut eating one was by turns motionless (why we don't see them) and tumbling and chewing in appearance of delight.. Nice one Liam! Great channel I love the wild life you find. A few years ago I was walking by a stream in Milton Keynes, I saw a mouse run across the path it was then chased and caught by what I think was a Weasel! But, once the Weasel got the mouse a crow came down from the tree and took both of them off! An amazing display of the food chain in action lol. Good luck with the channel 👍

I've read and heard that Greylag Geese pair for life. But just before the first lockdown in 2020, I had been filming a Greylag pair nesting for a couple of weeks and I noticed the male was still mating with other Geese on the lake while the female was on the nest nearby. Is this normal or are Greylags prone to mating with just their partner?
Lovely vid of Strumpshaw, I visited there in May about 5 years ago as they are one of the few places to see Swallowtail butterflies, I was unlucky on that occasion, but I did see Bearded Tits from the viewing platform. The Marsh Harriers are magnificent.
Once again, a really enjoyable video. Last time I was home I didn’t have time to include the woodland trail and vIsit the hides so thankyou.

Nice little stroll on the fen.
I saw my father at the kitchen door feeding a Robin some seeds from his hand! The Robin sat on his finger eating the seeds. It took some time for him to do that as the bird was a little timid at first, however as there was snow everywhere I guess the bird was very hungry!

Love the film mate , when I started a bit more walking I bought a pair of walking trousers they are so much more comfortable than jeans, also carry a bin bag to sit on and or in your case shove over the camera to keep it dry, I know this is a bit of an old geezer post but at least you get a comment for the algorithm
To be honest, I wear jeans for everything so I'm used to them, but perhaps I should invest in some walking trousers. I also normally carry a carrier bag with me in case of rain but somehow managed not to bring one for this trip. Thanks, every little helps when it comes to the algorithm!

On Sunday morning i saw a blue tit sized, almost all rusty red bird with a black triangle shape on it's tail feathers. It was feeding off the surface of the water on a half submerged willow branch in a small tributary stream behind a weir on my local river. Still haven't been able to identify it .. but it made my fishing trip didn't see a single pike 👀

When I used to feed the birds here at mine in very rural North Yorkshire I would feed them sunflower hearts and the gold finches would flock in there droves to eat them you’d even get goldfinches fighting to get on the feeder I stopped feeding them cause the bloody grey squirrels would come and ouch all the food and it go very expensive feeding grey squirrels.
I went there not to long ago and saw a pair of cranes and got some pictures, they were dancing and then flew just before we left the reserve.
