Without even going into how great the content and topics are of your videos, I absolutely love the effort and style put into their editing. They're super great to watch and I just want to say well done.

I in fact did put up a video that says something like "great diesel idling sound" or so. Look it up, it's even just a very short one (but it has background city noise in it as well, I believe).

Cool Nat. This video made me think of bats. I'm sure we're not far off from creating robotic bats that can navigate at night thru ultrasonic emissions. Scary.

This is ground breaking, taking on the senses computers really need to become human!

It would be impressive if we create computers spreading any smell you like. I would love to have a technical system that spread summer smell after rain after a hot dry summer day/week(s) or freshly mowed grass, so we don't have to miss those smell in long cold winters.

Sounds good, thanks. I wonder if this advanced recognition of specific sounds could also be used with super fast processors to improve noise cancelling. Just image how good it would be to eliminate all the irritating noises during a live concert. Cheers, David.

Don't large US cities like NYC have microphones installed every few hundred meters that are connected to an automatic system which tries to detect gun shots? I think I read something like that ... or was it just in a movie and I am too gullible?

    • @LoanwordEggcorn

the smartphones "okay google" recognition on the millions of phones out there to record natural sounds just when they tried to understand a codeword, but not got one, captured and calculated offline and locally on the smartphone because it's powerfull anough... Just with the data from TH-cam... BigData...

Digitizing automation, in question form with no meaning (rooting) .. Look into and its implications and "SEE" what you would do with it.

It actually isn't the phone that understands what we say. If it were, that is, if the speech recognition were done locally on the phone without sending the data to some remote server in the cloud, I would have no trouble using that feature. But I don't like my every command I issue or text I dictate to be stored forever for future referencing. And no matter which cloud-based speech recognition service you use (Siri, Alexa, Cortana, OK Google), they all do that. It's again another massive invasion of privacy, because you never know what these audio bits will might used for in the future.
