I'm very impressed with the way this young man is taking his studies seriously . However as an adult I'm ashamed at some of these inappropriate comments that many have posted. Mostly adult males. What surprises me is how thorough he is with it. I just had my yearly physical 3 weeks ago by my long time doctor. He looked in my ears, listened to my heart and lungs, palpated my stomach and lymph nodes in my neck and that was about it. Also blood and urine tests. Granted, I have health issues and specialists that treat some of the other things, but I don't think I've had THIS level of a comprehensive physical in 25 years!

And he does not have to see your overall range of motion every time etc. Also he will see alot of things on you whithout you even noticing. Eye color, skin tone heealthy or not, blood shot eyes etc

Mind you, I also think you missed out doing the reflexes of the foot (pointed object along the sole of the foot) and on the knees (tapping using a small hammer), but that's between you and me!!! I am very impressed with your knowledge of the anatomy. No Doctor I have ever been to has ever stated anything about S1 & S2's, where the positioning of the lungs and heart were. All they ever did was stick a stethoscope here and there and said ok!!!

My wife actually did a real physical exam on me while live exam with a medical professor , when she was in medical school in Hong Kong, we have a reallly large counter top bar, we used as a physical table 😆 BP machine pulse ox and everything lol was the longest freaking exam ever!

Listening to the heart and lungs through the shirt is no big deal. There really is no audible difference. My doctor listens to mine over my shirt because I don’t like taking my shirt off. Doctors and nurses and trained to do both because it’s up to patient on whether they want to undress and they DO deal with patients who don’t want to do that. Having a physical is VERY invasive because you have to deal with being touched everywhere and sometimes the one thing that the patient has control over is whether they undress or not. Boys and men don’t often care about removing their shirt, but some do. Women definitely do.

You can not Exam the Patient with cloth on, thats especialy important in Ambulance service. If you dont öut of all cloth you maybe oversee bloodings or wonds
Physical exams are necessary annually (especially if the patient is going through puberty, playing sports, has ongoing medical issues, or aging, etc.).

Good choice of stethescope for auscultation. Others are designed for blood flow favored by cardiologists. That one is great for bp, too

Since 1996, the American Academy of Pediatrics' FULL reports, inclusive of its 2012 full report, reaffirmed in 2018, has been suggesting/recommending that MALE INFANTS AND CHILDREN BE LEFT INTACT so that THEY (the male person possessing the subject penis) can make the decision when/after THEY reach adulthood (age 18) and THEY can sign the surgery consent form themselves.

To begin with, [1] most male patients, including boys, are NOT informed that they have the comfort RIGHT to same-sex practitioners and technicians, [2] male patients, including boys, are NOT informed of their right NOT to have female nurses or medical assistants unnecessarily in the clinical rooms, [3] males patients, including boys, are NOT informed that they may decline intimate parts of an exam, [4] female medical staff do NOT ask mother's of adolescent and teenage boys to leave the clinical rooms (but they insist father's leave) and [5] male patients, including boys, who advocate for their rights are OFTEN ostracized, ridiculed, shamed and punned.

Listening to the heart and lungs through the shirt is no big deal. There really is no audible difference. My doctor listens to mine over my shirt because I don’t like taking my shirt off. Doctors and nurses and trained to do both because it’s up to patient on whether they want to undress and they DO deal with patients who don’t want to do that. Having a physical is VERY invasive because you have to deal with being touched everywhere and sometimes the one thing that the patient has control over is whether they undress or not. Boys and men don’t often care about removing their shirt, but some do. Women definitely do.
