Married a girl who was from door county before her family moved to texas when she was in 7th grade. We have returned many times to visit. I was a 19 year old sailor in the USN when she and her family took me on my first Door County. Cave Point was my favorite place. We had a picture taken while visiting the Point, and the picture is still one of my favorites of us more than 40 years later. We have two daughters who still consider the Door as their favorite vacation destination. Just one of the great places in the USA.
That is awesome! We loved the area, especially all of the cute towns. We keep talking about how fun it would be to rent a cute Airbnb in one of them someday and just visit new towns everyday!

So pleased you got coffee from bearded coffee. Before you said you'd got them from there, I'd spotted their logo and it has to be one of the best logos I've seen in a long time! A coffee that tastes like worthers originals sounds delicious. The tractor ride looked amazing- we have a place in either Devon or Cornwall, can't quite remember, but they do the same thing! One thing I know you guys never do is click bait thumbnails (which I really appreciate) and so I knew after seeing that flame photo, something awesome was going to happen. I'd never heard of fish boil before so learnt something new... and so proud of you Kathryn for going with the fish! 🐟🐠
We are super big on coffee shop logos! We love when places take the time to have good branding and theirs was amazing! Ooo we will have to do a tractor ride when we make it your way, we loved the tractor so much haha! We are anti-click bait over here, so glad you appreciate that aspect! That fire photo was too "WOW!" to pass up putting on this one! I will say, while I don't necessarily love fish, I do LOVE me some fish and chips!
Love your channel! This video hit me hard in a good way, because my family (many generations ago) were some of the first settlers in Door County. We have property up there on the lake, we go up numerous times every year. So happy you did this video, and glad you enjoyed your trip there.
@@AdventuresofAplusK The most popular towns are Sister Bay, Ephraim and Fish Creak. For a good lunch go to JJ's in Sister Bay or Wilson's in Ephraim. You can take a ferry to Washington Island which would be fun for you two, you can rent bicycles or scooters and venture out on your own there. Peninsula State Park is gorgeous to drive through, especially at dusk when all the deer come out to eat before the end of the day. Best time to go up there is in the Fall because the colors on the trees are SPECTACULAR! If you ever go there in the Fall, head up when they have Fall Fest in Sister Bay which usually happens mid-October. There's lots of beaches and trails up in the area. Oh, since you both love food go to Seaquists in Ellison Bay for all sorts of good homemade food (jams, jellys, syrups, salsas, pies, cookies, etc). Really, REALLY enjoyed this video. Was so nice and special that you both experienced it. I'm not a fish person but my family has always enjoyed the fish boils up there.
Opened up the TH-cam app tonight and saw this video in my feed WHILE I’M ON VACATION IN DOOR COUNTY! We’re going to Bearded Heart Coffee tomorrow morning and I’m definitely going to try the drink you got. We went to a fish boil and the White Gull Inn and it was a lot of fun. Thanks for the video!

I love bearded heart coffee. I stopped there last year when I took a trip to door county. I made sure to get a shirt from their store too. I got rosemary and sea salt bagel with the jalapeno cream cheese it was so good.
A tractor ride to a lighthouse, a 850 foot ramp and a fish boil?!? Amazing! I bet Kona would also prefer a steak over fish! Thanks for sharing such a cool adventure!

Another great video! When I go home to Michigan I always get some white fish and lake perch too. Nothing like good cold water white fish. My daughter-in-law likes to fish, but will not eat seafood. Go figure. Maybe some day she'll grow up too and try some good white fish. Safe travels my friends....
Can't wait to visit! It's such a beautiful place. ❤️ Yet, the Potawatomi had an open-kettle fish boil that pre-dates immigrants. Scandanavians then added potato and onion, which created the modern fish boil. 💕

Those lakes have a way of putting the desire to sail in your blood! You guys might become a TH-cam sailing couple. We loved door County too! We've been a couple of times and loved the fish boil. So glad you guys enjoyed yourselves. That lighthouse looked like it was made with subway tiles! lol
There is a story about why the lighthouse looks like that, but we only caught the tail end of it and weren’t able to Google it while on the island. I should look it up though!
There is no doubt, the Great Lakes region has some crazy beautiful areas and that part of Wisconsin is no exception! Cave Point park looked really nice, I love lighthouses. Bummer it was closed! Eagle tower looked awesome, would love to do that sometime. Ephraim looks like a really quaint town and the fish-boil looked terrific!

Thanks so much for all of your amazing videos! This video inspired hubby and I to recently visit Door County for the first time. It was the perfect place to escape the Midwest heat and humidity! We enjoyed the Old Post Office Fish Boil, Wilson's Ice Cream and Eagle Tower in Ephraim, a Tall Ship cruise on the Edith M. Becker ship, lunch at Boathouse on the Bay, and gelato at Door County Creamery in Sister Bay, Cana Island Lighthouse, tractor ride and hiking trail, Whitefish Dunes State Park hiking trails, lunch at Harbor Fish Market & Grille in Bailey's Harbor. Next time we visit, we plan to do the cave kayaking and visit the goat farm! Also, we are currently enjoying your travels to Alaska! Happy Trails!

We got to camp there early last September and went to Cave Point at sunrise too. Fun to see that the new tower is now open at Peninsula State Park. We did the fish boil decades ago with friends. Fun tradition, but not much of a fan of boiled food theses days. Hope you went to Wilson’s in Egg Harbor for ice cream or burgers
The new tower is so cool! Glad we got to see it since I think it just reopened. No Wilson’s this time, we saved our ice cream treat for a very special, homemade gelato spot in our next video 😃

Cool video, I live in Door County. Only thing- you comment the best way to see Cave Point is from the water and you mention going in the caves- this is really NOT RECOMMENDED unless you are a serious cave diver with professional equipment and approval to do so..Just don't want to see anyone get in trouble or worse get injured or die
@@AdventuresofAplusK yeah, I'm not sure if there is a way to edit that to include that info or just leave out the part about going in caves that would be ideal. People drown in Door County evey year and I work in aquatics safety so it's a bit of an on point issue for me. Other than that thanks for the great video, I'm glad you had a great time and seeing this introduced me to your channel, can't wait to see where else you go!
We wanted to, but super out of the way for our route and we couldn’t swing it. We love to experience a variety of things though, not just hiking, so Door County was an awesome change of pace for us!

Another great video! I'm definitely adding a lot of this stuff to my bucket list -- I've never been to Wisconsin but this has really put it near the top of my list of states to visit. The lake and those lakeside towns are just beautiful. And the food/coffee...wow.
Thanks for the memories. Did a bike ride in Door County in the 80s. My Michigan Island Lighthouse has 138 steps, which I get to climb twice a day. No tours, or I'd be doing it more often.

They are very similar, I'm from Door County and my Mom is from Hancock so it was our vacation we went on several times a year. Honestly though, as cool as the Door peninsula is the Keewenaw is even more beautiful

Imagine the for sale ad for that tractor: like new condition tractor, only driven very slowly by the elderly during the day, washed at least 40 times daily with pure Great Lakes water

Thanks so much for all of your amazing videos! This video inspired hubby and I to recently visit Door County for the first time. It was the perfect place to escape the Midwest heat and humidity! We enjoyed the Old Post Office Fish Boil, Wilson's Ice Cream and Eagle Tower in Ephraim, a Tall Ship cruise on the Edith M. Becker ship, lunch at Boathouse on the Bay, and gelato at Door County Creamery in Sister Bay, Cana Island Lighthouse, tractor ride and hiking trail, Whitefish Dunes State Park hiking trails, lunch at Harbor Fish Market & Grille in Bailey's Harbor. Next time we visit, we plan to do the cave kayaking and visit the goat farm! Also, we are currently enjoying your travels to Alaska! Happy Trails!

We had a great time in WI! We left a couple weeks ago, but can't wait to come back someday!
We got to camp there early last September and went to Cave Point at sunrise too. Fun to see that the new tower is now open at Peninsula State Park. We did the fish boil decades ago with friends. Fun tradition, but not much of a fan of boiled food theses days. Hope you went to Wilson’s in Egg Harbor for ice cream or burgers
The new tower is so cool! Glad we got to see it since I think it just reopened. No Wilson’s this time, we saved our ice cream treat for a very special, homemade gelato spot in our next video 😃
The meal looked so yummy! I am amazed how the Great Lakes look so much like the oceans. Beautiful lighthouse and look out tower! Thank you for sharing!

Cool video, I live in Door County. Only thing- you comment the best way to see Cave Point is from the water and you mention going in the caves- this is really NOT RECOMMENDED unless you are a serious cave diver with professional equipment and approval to do so..Just don't want to see anyone get in trouble or worse get injured or die
We figured having diving experience was implied when we said that, but we should’ve been more obvious.
@@AdventuresofAplusK yeah, I'm not sure if there is a way to edit that to include that info or just leave out the part about going in caves that would be ideal. People drown in Door County evey year and I work in aquatics safety so it's a bit of an on point issue for me. Other than that thanks for the great video, I'm glad you had a great time and seeing this introduced me to your channel, can't wait to see where else you go!
y’all should experience devils lake in wisconsin! it’s a little more your speed of hiking and such a gem.
We wanted to, but super out of the way for our route and we couldn’t swing it. We love to experience a variety of things though, not just hiking, so Door County was an awesome change of pace for us!

@@AdventuresofAplusK we love shopping in all the little towns- some of our favorite places to go is wilson's for ice cream in ephraim, riding bikes through peninsula state park, visiting cave point, see a movie at the drive in theater, sitting by the water!

Another great video! I'm definitely adding a lot of this stuff to my bucket list -- I've never been to Wisconsin but this has really put it near the top of my list of states to visit. The lake and those lakeside towns are just beautiful. And the food/coffee...wow.

My Michigan Island Lighthouse has 138 steps, which I get to climb twice a day. No tours, or I'd be doing it more often.

So much beauty!!! This area looks a lot like Michigan's upper peninsula. So excited for you guys to get around to the UP. We were vacationing up there about a week ago and every time we saw a white van go by we yelled out, "Hey, is that A + K?!?"

They are very similar, I'm from Door County and my Mom is from Hancock so it was our vacation we went on several times a year. Honestly though, as cool as the Door peninsula is the Keewenaw is even more beautiful

I grew up fishing in a lake right next to Lake Geneva (which you have to visit some day!). The only water creature I’ll eat to this day is blue gill from that area. It is incredible there!
Most cold water fish are not fishy and most other fish are fine if fresh, and you don’t eat the darker blood line.
It’s mostly a texture thing for me, but I’m trying to get over it!
