The reason we know he's in control is cause whenever he gets serious or drops the kansai dialect. That's the real, yakuza 0 majima we knew and played as. As much as I enjoy his banshee screaming, I love the subtle switch to a more serious tone at the last 'i love you' chorus and the very last line... man, the guy still has it in him
Behind all the craziness, he still never got over that loss. Dude still loves Makoto but knows he can't be with her The Mad Dog is his way of coping with that knowledge. He wants to make himself believe he isnt meant to have a normal life. Luckily, Yakuza 6 makes Majima into a more cool headed guy since he has a purpose

You can tell near the end that he's practically moments away from shedding tears. For all the "mad dog" side of him has helped Majima cope with his inner struggles, at the end of the day, it's just a carefully maintained persona... and it's moments like this where you sense the real Goro resurface, even if only for a fleeting moment.

It's Majima telling for Makoto to have a better life after running into her back in '88 when he saved her life while she was blind. And he didn't want her to live her life being hunted down by yakuzas. A normal life he wanted Makoto to live with. And deeply inside he cares about her of all the shit they went through with Tsukasa Sagawa, Keiji Shibusawa, and Sohei Dojima trying to kill her.
This is also why in kiwami 2 he doesnt say anything to her or even looks at her he doesnt want her to remember him and he doesnt want her to have any connection to him or she would be a target again
And Oda selling her into Sex Slavery to the Korean Mafia (Jingweon most likely), and her losing her eyesight because of it, they would've been perfect because Majima is the only one who could've related to her ( Got his eye poked out and was Tortured in THE HOLE for a whole year, and then going through psychological torture and humiliation, whilst being trapped in an illusion of freedom in the form of SOtenbori).

Majima tried to do so by marrying Park but he just couldn't make it work. The sad part is, the exact thing he feared would happen to Makoto if he had pursued a relationship with her (A.K.A, her being put in harms way because of Majimas connection to the yakuza) happened to Park in the events of Yakuza 5. Just goes to show that Saejima was right about the Yakuza being the worst cut of meat there is. I've read somewhere that the studio is considering making a Yakuza game focusing on Majima solely now that Kiryu is no longer the protagonist. They said that the reason for it is because Majima exploded in popularity after 0, Kiwami and Kiwami 2. I think that'd be a perfect way to finally give the guy some closure in his sad life.
What i find sad is Majima attempts to sing everything comically at first. But by the ending chorus he cant do it anymore and starts to sing perfectly. Thinking of makato forces the "mad dog" personality to drop as he cant take this song and all hes done with makoto as a joke. He wants to keep the memories as he remembers them

Actually the one who made the Yakuza franchise, was the co maker of shenmue and shenmue to be fair didn't feel dead for it's time. Its one of these moments his subordinates just wonder what he is doing, but everyone is too shit your pants terrified to question why he is singing a love song and seems to be drowning in nostalgia.
They are, indeed. Even Kiryu’s track was depressing when they put flashbacks of Nishiki and two other people close to him. Hell, you can even still feel Kiryu’s pain in some parts of Kiwami 2 like him revisiting Serena a year later. For these 2 yakuzas, Kiryu just wishes he could rewind and go back where his family members are still alive while Majima wishes he had a normal life with Makoto so he can keep her out of danger in case another yakuza or another villain uses her as a shield or lure.

And he didn't want her to live her life being hunted down by yakuzas. A normal life he wanted Makoto to live with. And deeply inside he cares about her of all the shit they went through with Tsukasa Sagawa, Keiji Shibusawa, and Sohei Dojima trying to kill her.
This is also why in kiwami 2 he doesnt say anything to her or even looks at her he doesnt want her to remember him and he doesnt want her to have any connection to him or she would be a target again
And Oda selling her into Sex Slavery to the Korean Mafia (Jingweon most likely), and her losing her eyesight because of it, they would've been perfect because Majima is the only one who could've related to her ( Got his eye poked out and was Tortured in THE HOLE for a whole year, and then going through psychological torture and humiliation, whilst being trapped in an illusion of freedom in the form of SOtenbori).

The sad part is, the exact thing he feared would happen to Makoto if he had pursued a relationship with her (A.K.A, her being put in harms way because of Majimas connection to the yakuza) happened to Park in the events of Yakuza 5.

I've read somewhere that the studio is considering making a Yakuza game focusing on Majima solely now that Kiryu is no longer the protagonist. They said that the reason for it is because Majima exploded in popularity after 0, Kiwami and Kiwami 2.

What i find sad is Majima attempts to sing everything comically at first. But by the ending chorus he cant do it anymore and starts to sing perfectly. Thinking of makato forces the "mad dog" personality to drop as he cant take this song and all hes done with makoto as a joke. He wants to keep the memories as he remembers them

Actually the one who made the Yakuza franchise, was the co maker of shenmue and shenmue to be fair didn't feel dead for it's time. Majima is an amazing character. This song makes me cry. I love how you can see just Goro Majima and not, "The Mad Dog" when he sings this. He may be a bit crazy, but he can never fully suppress the real majima. It's heartbreaking.

I know it's a long shot but that's the idea of the karaoke songs. Hell, in Yakuza 5 Kiryu is reminiscing about the dog in the orphanage and Saejima about Sodachi.
That's the irony of this song choice. Majima as a comedic character gets probably the most serious song in the game besides Tonight by Kiryu.

The fact that I understood why majima left makoto was after the karaoke in kiwami 2 means that every yakuza game hides a story in the karaoke minigame

They are, indeed. Even Kiryu’s track was depressing when they put flashbacks of Nishiki and two other people close to him. Hell, you can even still feel Kiryu’s pain in some parts of Kiwami 2 like him revisiting Serena a year later. For these 2 yakuzas, Kiryu just wishes he could rewind and go back where his family members are still alive while Majima wishes he had a normal life with Makoto so he can keep her out of danger in case another yakuza or another villain uses her as a shield or lure.
