I love how even I can never bring myself to say Kazama-san's name without the san. And yes, absolute pain. Tears, too. Jesus, the Yakuza games pulled me in more than I ever thought I could be pulled.

The fact that the entire cinematic is from the events of Yakuza 0 - there's nothing from Kiwami/Yakuza 1 in here because no matter how long it's been, no matter what they've gone through, Kiryu still loves and misses his sworn brother and only remembers the good times.
Which is why Kiryu is my favorite character. No matter what you've done, he'll show remorse and give another chance.
Kiryu never want to remember Nishiki as his enemy that why only has the good memory from 0.
It's more likely because Yakuza 6 and Yakuza Kiwami came out in the same year, so this was developed before the cutscenes in Kiwami were usable.
That's because it's the same movie that appears in Yakuza Kiwami karaoke.

I remember playing this song in Kiwami thinking it was a bit goofy. Then 200 hours and 11 canonical years later Kiryu was still lamenting the loss of his best friend, the song took on a whole new feel for me. Nearly teared up replaying it in 6. One of my favourites now.
Kinda sad that by the time you get to 6, Kiryu basically has nobody left. As I played through the games I was really feeling how he really just wanted to be left alone to live a normal life and how tired he was of being dragged into situations time and time again. Especially how the Tojo clan in 6 was literally non existent. I'm glad 6 was the end of his story. I just want the man to live in peace for once and not get roped into more shit.

Hearing this song after nishiki's downfall and betrayal reminds you of the happy times in 0, and it hurts.

Even in the end, when the Dragon of Dojima's story is about to come to a close, he still has Nishiki in his heart.
And Nishiki is "back" as Ichiban. Ichi can never replace Nishiki, but he sure does remind Kiryu of him

I actually played Zero before Kiwami and I knew absolutely nothing about the Yakuza series (except that there was a crazy guy with an eyepatch and a bat running around, beating people up while screaming Kiryu-chan… Majima strikes again, huh?) so I went in completely blind and… Hell, it just tore my heart out.
Same here. I remember being absolutely heart-broken when I saw Nishiki turned corrupt. I was hoping it was all some elaborate plan from the get go and that it would reveal he was on Kiryu's side the whole time.
Wish i could've had such an experience. Thanks to the memes and random spoilers, i was waiting Nishiki to betray Kiryu during Y0

listening to this in yakuza 6 instead of kiwami makes it more emotional because it made me realize that after all these years, hes still cant get over and forget what happened to him and Nishiki
But he chooses to remember the good times. He still thinks of Nishiki as his brother.
I recently played this song and it caught me off guard because this song has been absent from some of the game (or I have skipped some of the karaoke in the game until 6) and immediately made me cry

Even after everything Nishiki did back in 2001, Kiryu never saw him as anything but his brother. Brothers till the end
*2005, and yes, it just hits so differently. I still have bad feelings on my gut when playing Kiwami because it's just tragedy after tragedy (specially if you begin with 0), seeing him end alone without his basically sworn-family at this point sucks so bad.

The biggest substory they didn't put in kiwami. Kiryu calling Nishikyama from jail to give him words of advice, wisdom and encouragement when he was having a rough time in the Yakuza. 😢

Sometimes I like to think that kiryu just has a crazy over-active imagination and that he's still back at the orphanage with Nishiki and Kazama making the games up in his head.

In Kiwami the song sounds hopeful, just like Kiryu hopes that Nishiki will come to his senses and things will go back to normal. After that it’s more solemn, cause those days are gone

Even though Yakuza 6 takes place years later then the events from 0 and Kiwami 1, it still does sadden me how Nishiki betrayed Kiryu

This is one of many, many parts of Yakuza 6 which gives it such an interesting feeling compared to the other games in the series. There's a definitely calmer and less OTT feel to it, far more introspective and personal, everything's very downbeat and with lots of callbacks to the past, tinged with regret. It's one of the reasons why I think with hindsight having just Kiryu be playable in it was the right decision.

It's so sad seeing Kiryu sing so beautifully about his brother and all the good times they used to have
But it's heart warming to see and know that Kiryu remembers Nishiki as his brother and not the evil sociopath he became and we don't see 1 moment of Y1/Kiwami through the whole song, and only fond memories from 0

I know it hurts...but there was a choice between Akira and Akiyama....that day kiryu's brother died...and the one that replaced his brother basically was born... since the explosion caused akiyama to earn all his fortune...so in other words I am glad the replacement for the 10 years in the joint guy was just as memorable as him with his grooving and sense of humor

I played Yakuza games from 0 to 6 and recently beat Yakuza 6. When I played this song for the first time it completely caught me off guard, and the lyrics along with Kiryu's memories really made me emotional. Only those who went through Kiryu's journey would get that haha
