Example of Purgatory, Isaiah 6 when the angel touched his lip with fire he was made clean. If you are sick God understands. You don't have to go to church when you're sick.
So when he quotes 2 Corinthians, revelations 3, and romans 2, I think his and the catholics main problem is that they seek to understand through human wisdom and forget that Jesus asks us to come to the word as children.
Am in the process right now in the RCIA! Although I accepted Christ around three years ago as my lord and savoir I am yet to be baptized as well. So will after RCIA. I have to do the classes online though as am too chronically ill to go in person unfortunately and have only managed one mass. But it's so beautiful and the voice of reason has cleared up a few things for me even more so. I hope one day to be healed so I can go to masses every week. @@CatolicodeguerraAlex was using incorrect terminology for starters it’s Mortal Sin and Venial Sin not Grave Sin. So that would throw anybody off in conversation. Ruslan was just making the point that unintentional sin is intentional sin at some point so at what point are you actually sining? Valid question. You want people to believe your religion but are angered by genuine questions on how it works? How does that make sense?
The questions were not genuine, he kept saying "what I think, or I don't agree with that" guess what, God doesn't care what you think or agree, You do his Will or not, period! @Megalonysight
I love Alex, and I enjoy your channel! I am a lifelong protestant who just a year ago was "anti-Catholic". My brother converted and we spent a year debating and talking through all the problems between Catholics and Protestants, and after spending a year doing this my mind was thoroughly changed, and I knew Christ was drawing me to His church. I am now in OCIA and plan to be confirmed as a Catholic in April Lord willing. I love my protestant and Catholic brothers and sisters and invite all my protestant friends to really do an honest dive into the Catholic church, and church history. Go see what the first Christians believed and how Christianity has historically interpreted scripture. And really try to see what Catholics believe from Catholics themselves. Some resources are Scott Hahn, Trent Horn, Jimmy Akins, Steve Ray, Catholictruth, and Catholics answers to name a few. Merry Christmas everybody.
All glory to God, that you finally come back home. Also, watch some videos of Dr. Brant Pitre on Jewish roots of Catholicism, Jewish roots of Eucharist and Jewish roots of Papacy. By watching those videos you will definitely understand what Catholic Church is. ❤
@RuslanKD Just want to say THANK YOU for having charitable conversations with Catholics. I’ve been spending way too much time on X lately where the Catholic/Protestant bickering is insane. Seeing these good-spirited conversations is a real breath of fresh air.
It wasn’t “charitable” though. He keeps making it seem like purgatory is a PLACE when Alex makes it clear multiple times that it’s a PROCESS. Yet Russian keeps making him repeat it, I wouldn’t have been as patient as Alex for sure. Another thing is that Ruslan like most Protestants, is convinced that God is “nice” when Alex is saying God is “just” big difference. I don’t think they are capable of understanding the difference, seems like they might think their sins are so grave they require God to be lenient. Something they need to be introspective about. Might be some ugliness in themselves they are scared to face.
@@Jaythom-gi2fs I apologize if I came off judge mental but from reading scripture I don’t understand how anyone would assume God would be lenient about sin. Just, merciful, fair? definitely. But lenient? Seems like wishful thinking. Maybe I’m wrong though.

This goes both ways. Catholics misunderstand misrepresent Protestantscas well. They think we worship Martin Luhther and follow everything he does and says which is ridiculous. Not any all Protestants are Lutherans.
As a Catholic I’m super pumped and confident that Voice of Reason will do well to defend our faith! The one true church Jesus founded is still here and thriving.

As a Protestant who has actually spoke out against the Catholic Church for years….this…this is making a lot of sense to me. There are some things that I still need to pray on, like the missing church two weeks in a row stuff, but alot of it has opened my eyes and mind to some things I have been ignorant of. Not saying I’m going full Catholic, but I do have a appreciation for the church. Maybe one day.
Ruslan failed to understand and in turn failed to help his listeners understand that he was saying if you’re choosing to not go to church just because you don’t want to. You have the time and have no good reason to miss church and worship God, you need repentance. Because you are free willing to choose not to worship and spend real valuable time with God.
@@RysaiahRyan yes I agree, it's a simple concept, if there are issues preventing you from attending that's different to just deciding to not wanting to
You're only in mortal sin if you're actively rejecting God because you WANT to reject God. If you missed mass and you feel guilt, you're not in mortal sin. If you can't go to mass you're not in sin. If you're sick you're not in sin. The guy in the sweatshirt was not grasping the SIN topic in the slightest.
@@johnjames9359I thought it was a mortal sin to skip mass, whether u feel guilt or not. You should not skip mass if you don’t have a reason. That’s what I was taught. Is that wrong? Is it only when u don’t feel guilt it becomes a mortal sin?
@@Williamcam4 mortal sin in this sense would require total disregard for God. If you knowingly sin and then feel guilt, you haven't totally disregarded God.
Keith Nester is great. He’s just one of MANY former Protestant Pastor converts! There’s a continuous flow of former Pastors coming into the Catholic Church. Those who sincerely seek the truth, & want to be as obedient to Christ as possible will undoubtedly become Catholic… & it’s not always easy, especially for pastors who risk losing so much of their livelihoods & relationships. We are living in the age of the Holy Spirit among us. I believe it to be true because what we are seeing is a conversion of a lot of protestants, returning to the holy Catholic apostolic Church first time ever more male conversions to the Catholic Church and more attendance during mass from young males than women
I thought the same thing! As I watched this I was thinking, I’m watching God work through Alex to bring Ruslan home to the Catholic Church right now. Is Ruslan in the process of conversion? Has he mentioned this?
I don’t know why Protestants say that some believe that some Catholic believe that Mary is a second “Jesus.” Even when I was a young Catholic I understood there is only one God.
@garthmanuel5701 "pray" the way it used to be used as in to petition or ask someone for something. Read something like Pride and Prejudice, and you'll hear them ask another for something. "pray tell". We ask our mother to pray for us
Thank you VOR for being a voice of reason on my journey back into Christianity and thank you Ruslan for hosting this edifying conversation. Appreciate your work brothers!
9:13 I had the same experience and journey with the Baptist denomination. Digging deeper and asking more and more questions that no one had answers for or just brushed off entirely. After a long deep dive into more history and early church, I'm leaning more Catholic on things.
The protestant disbelief in hearing that intentionally skipping church is a mortal sin is because, for most denominations, church is little more than a concert and a bible lecture. Throw in some "fellowship" if you want. But why would it be sinful to miss that? They seem to be talking past each other here because they have fundamentally different understandings of what "church" is. For a Catholic, Mass is nothing less than participation in the eternal sacrifice of Calvary, the very means of our salvation. Of course participation would be a "salvation issue" then. You are literally invited to participate in the Heavenly banquet and chosen to decline? What is that other than choosing hell?
The difference is that you boast in your church attendance, which leads to self righteousness. The idea that Christ is being offered up repeatedly during the mass is disrespectful to the one for all sacrifice of Christ. Jesus said, “It is finished.”
I’m not Catholic but I don’t think its so you can boast in your Church attendance. That would be considered sinful to do so in the Catholic tradition. And I think it’s supposed to represent a physical representation of the one eternal sacrifice of Christ. There theology isn’t that they re-sacrifice Christ. But I would definitely be curious to here what Catholics make of Christ saying “It is finished”
@tanktamer8760 the book Jesus and the Jewish Roots of the Eucharist by Dr Brant Pitre or Scott Hahn’s The Fourth Cup explains this well. “It is finished” is believed to have to do with the four cups of wine of the Passover (the cup of Sanctification, Proclamation, Blessing, and Praise), which it appears Jesus did not drink the last cup at the Last Supper. Jesus vowed not to drink of “fruit of the vine” until the coming of the kingdom of God. There was a specific order in which each cup was drank for the Passover, yet both Matthew and Mark do not mention the fourth cup being consumed. After singing the hymn (the Psalm sung before drinking the fourth cup), they “went out”. The next time Jesus takes a drink is on the cross, right before he says “it is finished”. So we interpret this as Jesus instituting the new Passover on the cross. As Paul says in 1 Corinthians 5:7, “Christ, our Paschal Lamb, has been sacrificed. Let us, therefore, celebrate the festival”. His words “it is finished” on the cross are actually an institution of the new feast of the Eucharist, or Lord’s Supper, and no longer the feast of the Passover. If “it is finished” meant his sacrifice of conquering death and achieving for us Eternal Life, wouldn’t he say it after he had resurrected from the dead?
@@darekgwozdz It is a one for all sacrifice--but it was not a mere isolated moment. It is now eternal as well. That's why Mass is offered every day. It is not repeating the sacrifice, but acknowledging that the sacrifice became an eternal reality taking place in Heaven continually. Mass is nothing but a window into Heaven.

I agree but it could be harsh on the viewer and ruslan. He's a cut and dry type of guy n only want to say one thing once (ideally). He will call out n insult right away if you're being dishonest or disingenuous. So there's not a much of leeway of resistance from the viewers and ruslan to accept the Catholics teachings. My number one Catholic apologist is Scott Hahn, a convert to the faith. He is a scripture scholar and his life in the spirit makes his apologetics truly inspired.
Ruslan I love you but man that conversation about missing church was brutal. He didn’t paint a broad brush and say missing church means you go to hell. He listed three criteria that determine whether it is a mortal sin. Then you have examples that did not meet the criteria and were confused when he said no that isn’t a mortal sin. You’ve gotta listen when he’s giving you answers directly to the questions you are asking.
@bguinet yeah, was disappointed because it's like he kept forgetting Voiceofreason clearly saying it's only a mortal sin if you could have gone and chose not to of your own free will and you know it's a mortal sin. Ruslan kept acting like it's just missing church flat out even though exceptions were clearly listed by voiceofreason
I was confused like Ruslan. It’s interesting that God gave 10 commandments, then the Jews developed 613-hard to remember and keep straight. That’s what the reasoning here felt like.
As a Protestant ive been listening to more of these Protestant-Catholic dialogues for months now. Im still uncovinced of Catholic dogmas but i have more respect for their beliefs. We are both still followers of Christ at the end of the day.
Unconvinced of what? The Catholic Way is the only way that allows you to live out the Kingdom of God on Earth as it is Heaven. If you think Mary is Jesus’ mother, she was his mother on earth and is his mother in heaven. Speaking to her brings the kingdom to life before your eyes.speaking to the saints shows your belief in eternal life. If everyone is alive in heaven, you purposely avoiding them shows your true spirit.
@@AntXUnofficial you make very similar claims to Mormonism, JW, and other pseudo-Christian cults in that they are the “only way” to get to God / Jesus. I love how Ruslan’s position seems sound at first, but the more you think about it and keep asking questions, the more you arrive at Catholic conclusions.
ruslan... the catholic view on losing salvation is so simple. (Trent Horn has a really great video about this) 1) If you die in the state of grace, you are saved. You might have to go through purgatory, but you are 100% saved. 2) you will lose your state of grace and forfeit your salvation if you commit a mortal sin. 3) a mortal sin is any sin that meets ALL conditions: i) it's a grave sin (e.g. against a commandment) ii) committed with full knowledge (you know it's a grave sin) iii) committed with full will and intent (not coerced) (if ANY of the three are not met, the grave sin is not a mortal sin) If a catholic commits mortal sin and they die, yes they are going to Hell (only God knows if you are truly in mortal sin or in a state of grace) 4) A catholic can be formally forgiven from ANY and ALL mortal sin and return to a state of grace at ANY TIME by repenting and receiving the sacrament of reconciliation. Yes, missing mass ONCE is a grave sin. Yes, pulling out is a grave sin. Yes, using contraception is grave sin. Bearing false witness is a grave sin. Fornication is a grave sin. Murder is a grave sin. These are all automatically grave sins inherently, but to know if they are mortal sins for a particular person, it depends on the other two criteria, which are internal and known ONLY to the sinner and to God.
Thank God someone mentioned the sacrament od confession! Ruslan wasted so much time on levels of gravness od sin… because protestant dont have confession.
@danielkandell3399 the sin that causes death (singular) is the blasphemy of the Holy Spirit. It's the only sin that can't be forgiven, and it has nothing to do with what we do, but the inability of one to believe that Jesus is the Son of God despite the work Holy Spirits testimony.
People say they fear God, but easily decline his invitation to church on Sundays. I'm like, bruh, that's not how fear works. Loved this podcast. Thank you
Oddly enough, as a protestant, I have believed in the purgatory idea but didn’t know that that is what other people call it. I’ve been taught for a long time that we have reward on judgement day, but, there is the refiners fire that we may have to face based on our works. That we have salvation but might make it in with little reward or “by the skin of our teeth”. It has nothing to do with salvation but everything to do with rewards God has for us. Any other Protestants here?
I've had alot of the same belief too as a Protestant, just honestly never knew that that's what Catholcis believed, I had thought it was a place they believed in not a way of refining, It was good to finally get clarity on it
It was always my understanding that if you get into heaven you get into heaven. But that the Bible does say that some will be rewarded better than others based on their works. So some people get bonus heaven is how I kind of see it. Obviously I don't know tho. Jesus told the thief on the cross that he would be going to Paradise today so I never can quite understand the argument of purgatory
Purgatory makes salvation way more difficult. The Lord has never been a middle man about things. It’s black and white. Either you get into heaven by faith or you don’t. That’s scriptural but not purgatory
@@senorita8804 voice of reason actually has videos clarifying this stuff, Jesus referred to paradise and not heaven, paradise meant Sheol, ‘Abraham’s bosom’ and he asserted dominance over death and then rose from the dead, and went to heaven. Nobody was in heaven prior to this. Purgatory is only for the saved, and is a process which refines you and rids you of earthly attachments etc. I’m not the best at explaining this but maybe a scholar like Scott Hahn would have useful videos about this on TH-cam
Love this podcast man! When you're talking about your son being kicked out of your house reminds me of the prodigal son. The prodigal son is not kicked out, but he chooses to leave his father. He is welcomed with open arms afterwards, just like God welcomes us back after reconciliation.
Alex. You are a true gift to the one true faith ! I absolutely love you and so thankful you popped up in my feed this year. Ruslan, thank you so much for having him on. I’ve been here listening for days now . Once one studies the early church fathers they can’t deny Jesus founded the Catholic Church. There’s no way God got it wrong the first 1500 years that he needed Martin Luther to set humanity straight.
Blessed my grandmother converted from protestantism to Catholicism and led a saintly life with daily rosary, daily mass etc. Her holiness is still evident in our family and of course we will never leave the Catholic Faith. Jesus is truly present in the Eucharist
I am a recently convert to Catholicism, and my basic understanding is that if you know you should go to church and knowingly do something that causes you to not go, it’s a mortal sin.
yeah, for Ruslan, the Catholic view of God's justice contradicts God's mercy and love when in fact, Jesus made the restoration of His grace so easy for us through the Sacrament of Reconciliation. Jesus knows our tendency to sin, so He makes His forgiveness visible and easy to access through the Sacrament. This is God's mercy here on earth before God's justice is applied to every soul after death. But I understand because he's not Catholic. If he cannot grasp God's justice as what the Catholic Church teaches, he will not appreciate the Sacrament.
@@johnnyvo2494 isn’t that the same thing as asking God for forgiveness when we sin and repenting? I hope I don’t sound offensive I just want to learn, I’m Protestant so it seems a bit extra to me when we have the Holy Spirit.
Some Catholics here are saying that Protestants just don't understand Catholicism - they don't get it- whatever. Well, as a cradle Catholic, I cannot say that I get everything either. There's just too much to be able to take it all in. I attend Holy Mass every day and practically every day I greet the priest with a new question about the faith. Often even he has to admit that he has to do some research before giving an answer. He had ten years in seminary! If Protestants don't understand, then they are in good company. Its just that those of us who have been raised in the Church have had more time to learn and take in all the richness of the Catholic faith and tradition. It is wonderful. I can never tire of this faith as there are always deeper truths to uncover. Anyone can get a copy of the Catechism of the Catholic Church and learn from it.

Ruslan did a great job pointing out the flaws in Catholicism in a kind and non confrontational way. It is nice to hear the errors in Catholicism from a Catholic apologist, because we are often accused of not knowing a certain council, what a church father said, etc. Great job, Ruslan.
When he mentioned having an issue with pulling out being a grave sin and possibly a mortal sin (as well as missing church), it struck me that this might be something he struggles with personally. Honestly, most people reject Church dogma not because it’s wrong, but because they don’t want to change their ways. It’s easier to deny the truth than to conform to it.
@@_TwoDotClearly you didn’t read Genesis 38:8-10. The penalty for pulling out back then was death. Lucky for you, under the new covenant, that is not the case. I suggest you read your Bible.
26 For if we willfully persist in sin after having received the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins, 27 but a fearful prospect of judgment, and a fury of fire that will consume the adversaries. 28 Anyone who has violated the law of Moses dies without mercy “on the testimony of two or three witnesses.” 29 How much worse punishment do you think will be deserved by those who have spurned the Son of God, profaned the blood of the covenant by which they were sanctified, and outraged the Spirit of grace? Hebrews 10:26-29
@@SY-Rhyana actually the context of the scripture that catholics use and twist around when talking about pulling out, was that Onan was using his sister in law to get her land, and was pulling out in order to prevent her from having an heir. God smited him for the evil of trying to claim his brothers property and screw over his sister in law, not from pulling out.
Indulgences: maybe it would be helpful to point out that the activities involved in receiving an indulgence are always something leading us down a path to holiness. Ie. Pray, Confession, pilgrimage, acts of mercy towards others. It's not about jumping through hoops. It's about being open to God's grace and following Him. There are activities and habits that lead you closer to Him, especially when practiced regularly.
To me it sounds like putting things on the good side of the scale to out weight the bad side. I'm sure lots of people take those acts seriously, but there is also the people who take it as a game, instead of being sorrowful over their sins and repenting from them.
@@swankelly In the Catholic Church, if you're not repentant in your heart then your Confession isn't valid. Ultimately God knows your heart and judges your soul by it.
@@denisewells2992 that’s why Jesus sent the Holy Spirit so we can have the helper and to be convicted. I don’t hear much about the Holy Spirit role in Catholicism… unless I’m missing it
@Reggieamponsah24 the church began at Pentecost with the Holy Spirit. The Trinity is everywhere in the Church. The Holy Spirit is the Advocate working with us, and through us to do God's will. The love between the Father and the Son, beckoning us to follow and guiding us, provided we are open to following them. The Holy Spirit is inseparable from the Catholic church. Thank you for your curiosity. It would be helpful if more were open to dialog as it seems you are.
@ so it’s almost like Catholics have a structured blueprint of how to go about their walk with God? Similar to non Catholics who pray, read their bibles attend a local church and evangelize but not with the organizational structure?
Ruslan is a true Protestant he protest just about everything. Alex explains everything with Scripture, Church History, and common sense he still doesn’t understand.
There's a difference between church history and dogmas and doctrines that are not biblical. Thats where protestants come in. To stick to as much scriptures as possible to not water down the truth. Catholism started with the truth but veered from the truth.
@ It would be impossible for the Catholic Church to veer from the truth, John 14:16-17 and John 16:13 . You would be calling Jesus a liar if you disagree. John 14:16-17 in the Bible says, "And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Helper, to be with you FOREVER , even the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees him nor knows him. You know him, for he dwells with you and will be in you". John 16:13 says, "When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into ALL the truth, for he will not speak on his own authority, but whatever he hears he will speak, and he will declare to you the things that are to come".
The issue here (on the missing Church portion) is that Ruslan doesn't see going to church as worship, much less obligated worship. As a convert from Protestantism to Catholicism, the difference between Mass and a Protestant Church service (especially the non-denominational/Evangelical type) is that Protestant churches put the pulpit in the center of their service, whereas Catholics put the Holy Sacrifice of the Eucharist in the center. The Protestant church is more akin to a Bible Study rather than obligatory worship (giving God what He is worth). To the Catholic, Mass is giving God the only thing that could even match up, which is the God-Man Himself, Jesus Christ. To reject this is much worse than missing a Bible Study. Both Trent Horn and Joe Heschmeyer have videos on this that I would highly recommend.

Persevere in them, because if you do, you will save both yourself and your hearers.' The Catholic Church holds the fullness of Christ’s teachings, and living according to them is essential for our personal salvation. I encourage you to continue sincerely seeking the truth.

@@saultarango-rosales4230I’m not sure if you’re addressing me, as I made the 'fullness' comment, but I completely agree with you. It’s true that doctrine alone is not enough without a sincere faith and relationship with the Lord (1 Cor. 13:2). However, 1 Timothy 4:16 reminds us that doctrine and life must go hand in hand. The Church Jesus established 2,000 years ago is the pillar and foundation of truth (1 Tim. 3:15), preserving and passing down the fullness of His teaching through the generations

The questions being asked of VOR were not coming from a genuine desire to understand Catholicism but rather from a defensive stance and attempt to ridicule with the splitting hairs over types of sin that will send you to hell, etc.
He's just asking clarifying questions to understand Catholicism. Sometimes you have to take the argument in its end or what you accused of splitting hairs to gain understanding.
It was unfair to compare VOR's Biblical evidence for Mary being the second Eve by saying after "oh thats cool but ive heard calvanist argue double predestination by stringing together a bunch of verses" ok cool but VOR's conclusion is supported by Tradition as evidenced by the old liturgical prayer we've found that VOR mentioned, so these Biblical evidences hes giving are merely to show Ruslan a Sola Scriptura beliver that our Tradtion is not contradicting Scripture but that is is supported by it
This gave me a headache. Going around in circles forever. The answer was clear from the beginning. God gave us the sacrament of confession. Easy answer. Could go deeper into that but the sacraments are there to cleanse us
Respectfully, concerning Martin and Purgatory, he also renounced his belief in Purgatory later in his life and in published lectures. He said in 1535, it was "ungodliness and unbelief." Contradicting solo Christos and the complete purification of the believer and propitiation we receive due to the blood of His cross.

Ruslan, you kill it. If we all believe we are saved then it is ok if we view theology and Christology differently. If we do not believe a group is saved then we need to discuss that. I loved this and your conversation with Gavin, we can't get lost in what divides (doesn't mean ignore) and we should celebrate what unites and thats Christ Jesus.
As a Latino, Catholic traditions is just part of our culture. My family left the religion when I was young. But even now no Catholic I know from extended family and friends is an actual practicing Catholic, let alone love/fear God. It’s meaningless to them. I have a lot of respect for Catholics like Alex but my personal relationship with Jesus Christ and the power of the Holy Spirit working in and through me has changed me and my family’s lives in a real way and kept us religionless. Great conversation though Ruslan and Alex!
Hi, friend! Non practicing Catholics are still called Catholic, but non practicing Protestants are simply called non believers. People who take the Christian life seriously are a small minority in both traditions, sadly. That said, we shouldn't judge someone else too harshly, as we do not know their heart. Peace and love!
@ Not sure where you felt I was being judgmental. I don’t understand what you said though. “A non practicing Catholic is still a Catholic but a non practicing Protestant is a non believer.” That’s not even in line with what Alex is saying Catholic dogma is.
Overall great conversation. That being said, I respectfully feel that Alex was so literal that it harmed the forward linear progress of the conversation several times. The part about “is it a mortal sin” was just painful with how long it took to get a straight answer and even then I didn’t feel like it was satisfactory because it had no direct scriptural support. Again much respect to both of my brothers in Christ in this video but I certainly feel even more secure in my Protestant faith after watching- and I went to catholic school as a child. Ruslan summed it up best when he said he felt like it was a bunch of overly complex rules/doctrines that just aren’t found in scripture.
The guy in the sweater sounds to me like he's praying to God that his understanding of salvation is correct. It's like he's pleading with himself that his understanding is correct, but he knows in the back of his mind that it actually is a little more complicated. Then toddler christianity
I never understand when they say Catholic understanding of salvation is "too complicated" as an argument against it. Why is there a presupposition that salvation must be as simple and believe and be saved ? And Catholic understanding of salvation is not complicated
Alex explains this soo good. I don't understand why missing church and being a grave sin is confusing. Ask for forgiveness and go to church the next time. Asking for forgiveness is what Alex is saying. 10 commandments is there for a reason. And yes, it's worse now to break them now.
I’m happy that God gave us the Catholic Church to guide us on matters of faith and morals. Protestants come up with essentials that they can’t agree on and ‘pray about’ morality or simply vote. I don’t see anything good in the Protestant faith of easybelievism. The Catholic Church compiled and gave us the Bible. It may seem like they have a lot going on, but order and clarity are necessary when we are talking about salvation.
That has objectively been one of Ruslan's best episodes. He did a great job balancing the act of "don't let him off the hook easy" and "don't set up and attack a strawman" And I'm saying this as a Catholic who loves his Protestant and Orthodox siblings 🤗
As a catholic this was very entertaining to watch and learn more about both sides. They should do another podcast together so they can go into more depth about the differences between Protestant and catholic. Would help both communities
Every Catholic mass, which is celebrated every day at every Catholic church in the world, Catholics across the globe kneel for 20 mins to Jesus in the Eucharist. Amazing. You take one knee, we kneel on both knees with millions of other Catholics every day
I love pentecostals! Church history is cool. But at the end of the day, the best is a strong relationship with Christ😊 no need for useless dogmas than Jesus nor apostles taught😊
Catholicism is the truth. People fight so hard against it because its the truth. Being ousted by your own family, losing lifelong friends and losing your identity of who you are is SCARY. But Catholicism is the truth the first Christians = Believers in Christ. Catholic means universal church we accept anyone regardless of race, creed culture etc..
@@Levij83no, we watched the video…the specious arguments are not compelling. Fortunately, we are Protestants are Catholic in the best sense of the word. We just don’t accept the pagan syncretism or illegit lower grab of the Roman See.
The idea that Mexico is Roman Catholic because of the apparition of Mary is a nice story when you leave out the fact that Cortes had forcibly converted the Aztec empire a decade prior. The idea that the work would have "died out" without this vision is, at best, suspect.
I love voice of reason!! ❤Makes me stronger in my protestant beliefs😊. Unconvinced of most of catholicism. But i respect them. Relationship with Christ is the fulness of the faith. I vow down to no one but God. Blessings 😊

Welcome home to the fullness of truth happy new year
Am in the process right now in the RCIA!

We are living in the age of the Holy Spirit among us. I thought the same thing! As I watched this I was thinking, I’m watching God work through Alex to bring Ruslan home to the Catholic Church right now. Is Ruslan in the process of conversion? Has he mentioned this?
Ruslan is not converting to the Catholic Church.
What exactly did you see in the video to make you believe that?
I don’t know why Protestants say that some believe that some Catholic believe that Mary is a second “Jesus.” Even when I was a young Catholic I understood there is only one God.

Cause u pray TO Mary..it's ridiculous
@garthmanuel5701 we ask intercession, just like the Apologist said the Church teaches.

Which one would you say you're most unconvinced on?
Thank you so much for releasing this on TH-cam. I thought you were only releasing it on the other platform
ruslan... the catholic view on losing salvation is so simple. (Trent Horn has a really great video about this)
1) If you die in the state of grace, you are saved. You might have to go through purgatory, but you are 100% saved.
2) you will lose your state of grace and forfeit your salvation if you commit a mortal sin.
3) a mortal sin is any sin that meets ALL conditions:
i) it's a grave sin (e.g. against a commandment)
ii) committed with full knowledge (you know it's a grave sin)
iii) committed with full will and intent (not coerced)
(if ANY of the three are not met, the grave sin is not a mortal sin)
If a catholic commits mortal sin and they die, yes they are going to Hell (only God knows if you are truly in mortal sin or in a state of grace)
4) A catholic can be formally forgiven from ANY and ALL mortal sin and return to a state of grace at ANY TIME by repenting and receiving the sacrament of reconciliation.

What is meant by 'the way'? Is that just nominally (faith alone)?

I am a recently convert to Catholicism, and my basic understanding is that if you know you should go to church and knowingly do something that causes you to not go, it’s a mortal sin.
Where’s Jesus say that?
Halfway in, and all I can think is "somebody should tell Ruslan about reconciliation".
Yes!
@@povilzem what is reconciliation?
@@Reggieamponsah24it’s the sacrament of confession my friend
yeah, for Ruslan, the Catholic view of God's justice contradicts God's mercy and love when in fact, Jesus made the restoration of His grace so easy for us through the Sacrament of Reconciliation.

Grateful to God for leading me Home❤ proud to be Catholic ❤
When he mentioned having an issue with pulling out being a grave sin and possibly a mortal sin (as well as missing church), it struck me that this might be something he struggles with personally. Honestly, most people reject Church dogma not because it’s wrong, but because they don’t want to change their ways. It’s easier to deny the truth than to conform to it.
Nowhere in the Bible does it say pulling out is a sin, and people can definitely be saved if they can’t go to church
@_TwoDot yes it does a man in the old Testament was struck dead because of it
@@_TwoDotClearly you didn’t read Genesis 38:8-10.
Thank you for this upload, please get more Catholics on the show ✝️.
God bless you and your family
I’m a Pentecostal love my faith my Lord Jesus Christ saved my life and led me to where I am even with me researching the churches history and I asked God sincerely to lead me to where I need to be I total assurance
I’m Pentecostal. Finishing Masters on Church Fathers. Pentecostals have brought great blessings to the universal church. Catholic Church has charismatic move now.
I was Pentecostal all my life and joined the Catholic Church last year at 53. In my journey, I’ve come to see how crucial doctrine is. As 1 Timothy 4:16 says, 'Watch your life and doctrine closely. Persevere in them, because if you do, you will save both yourself and your hearers.' The Catholic Church holds the fullness of Christ’s teachings, and living according to them is essential for our personal salvation. I encourage you to continue sincerely seeking the truth.
Gentleman I appreciate it but when you say the fullness it makes me laugh because I’ve seen and felt the fullness of the lord you can be perfect in doctrin but not have a sincere faith or relationship with the Lord
@@cheryl0327 I agree with that verse definitely but to say that the Catholic Church and I think you can admit this has progressed and added dogmas and adding traditions passed down through fathers and say you guys have the original doctrins of the original 12 apostles or 13 should I say even your own doctrine are not perfect and are flaws their for Christ is the truth not the church
Thank you for having Alex on your podcast. He’s such an incredible person who is so knowledgeable. Strong Catholic here who loves our Protestant brothers and sisters ❤
I definitely got a hint of that too.
Alex did such a great job in this! Our faith is so beautiful.
Both Catholics and Protestants believe Mary was saved by Jesus. It’s a matter of when in her life.
It was unfair to compare VOR's Biblical evidence for Mary being the second Eve by saying after "oh thats cool but ive heard calvanist argue double predestination by stringing together a bunch of verses" ok cool but VOR's conclusion is supported by Tradition as evidenced by the old liturgical prayer we've found that VOR mentioned, so these Biblical evidences hes giving are merely to show Ruslan a Sola Scriptura beliver that our Tradtion is not contradicting Scripture but that is is supported by it
AMEN.
As a Catholic I loved this. Glad to see you reaching out to other denominations of Christianity
LoL so he is againts his own Anathema
@@JohnGiovannyat no point is anyone perfect and I think since we are temporal we can change our mind so what you believe today may not be what you believe in 10 years
@@idk7864watch Lloyd de jhongs series on Luther. He was not a good man.
But the thing is, they are all found in scripture and he mentioned it lol
The guy in the sweater sounds to me like he's praying to God that his understanding of salvation is correct. It's like he's pleading with himself that his understanding is correct, but he knows in the back of his mind that it actually is a little more complicated. Then toddler christianity
I never understand when they say Catholic understanding of salvation is "too complicated" as an argument against it. Why is there a presupposition that salvation must be as simple and believe and be saved ? And Catholic understanding of salvation is not complicated
Haven’t finished the video, big fan of both, enjoying the indulgence and purgatory part. Best I’ve seen it explained so far
The "missing of Church" is a metaphor for denying God..Ruslan is not getting that.
In Ruslans defense, if that was the point, it was a bit unclear. I was pretty confused as well tbh lol
Viva Cristo Rey ❤
Alex explains this soo good. I don't understand why missing church and being a grave sin is confusing. Ask for forgiveness and go to church the next time. Asking for forgiveness is what Alex is saying. 10 commandments is there for a reason. And yes, it's worse now to break them now.
Sounds like living the catholic life is like reading the US tax code lol.
It’s incredibly legalistic
That has objectively been one of Ruslan's best episodes. He did a great job balancing the act of "don't let him off the hook easy" and "don't set up and attack a strawman"
And I'm saying this as a Catholic who loves his Protestant and Orthodox siblings 🤗
As a catholic this was very entertaining to watch and learn more about both sides. They should do another podcast together so they can go into more depth about the differences between Protestant and catholic. Would help both communities
Pentecostal here. I’m thankful for my simple faith. I bend the knee to no one but Jesus Christ.
Jesus Christ says to obey his apostles and his church.
Easy brandon (joe biden)
Every Catholic mass, which is celebrated every day at every Catholic church in the world, Catholics across the globe kneel for 20 mins to Jesus in the Eucharist. Amazing. You take one knee, we kneel on both knees with millions of other Catholics every day
@@juangutierrez1883as true christians we follow what apostles of Jesus taught. Not fallible men that came with invented doctrines centuries later😊
Yeah going against the word of God is the truth lmao. Making idols is the truth. Thinking a man is holy is the truth. SURE

Unconvinced of most of catholicism. But i respect them. Relationship with Christ is the fulness of the faith. I vow down to no one but God. Blessings 😊
Catholics don’t worship anyone but Christ too.
And where in the Bible does it say that “a relationship with Christ is the fullness of the faith?”
With all do respect Ruslan, you seem like you dont want to accept the Church, like your goal is to oppose it. Im sensing a dark spirit, ill pray for you tonight. I have gone from baptist, to agnostic, to new age, to non denomination, to pentecostal to orthodoxy and finally home to the Catholic Church....great peace awaits
