Finally a test drive of Kimesh track Corolla, he is a dam good driver and a humble person. ThanKS for doing this test drive 🙌
I like it, looks very stable on the bad road of ours and it doesn't shake as much during the bumps as well. As for performance, i am 100% sure that dyno tune will sort out the power, the owner said he focused on everything besides power to have a good drag/track car,when he eventually moves on and tunes the car for power it's going to be a killer.

Big dyno numbers are great but there's a lot more to it than that. It's 100s to see someone hit that "right" formula. Appreciate, coz we're all just car guys & girls after all 👌✌
Dont get alot of daily track cars nice seeing that side of the world a bit! Just a suggestion for the owner, remove the sun roof that is alot of weight high up should lower the center if gravity just a tad, great job tho bru!. These motors are surely on my list of best small capacity engines!

Well spotted. It is actually an SA-spec 2001 RXi...but I wanted the JDM Corolla GT look.
Over a period of time I found all the bits...the grille badge (as well as the c-pillar 'C' badges and GT badges for the fender and boot also, just haven't put these on), the full JDM GT plastic lip kit, and most recently the bootlid.

Rushil Kisoon hi, I actually sold the kit to Kimesh, and boy did he put it to good use, the car looks amazing. The side skirts are pretty easy to get, but the front lip and rear lips are hard. The parts are generally cheap but shipping will kill you, i was lucky to source it from a friend in Botswana 👌so I save on shipping big time.
Siveshan Naicker I see. That was also my idea. Go on a holiday to a neighbouring country and buy parts. The JDM donor car is still my ultimate goal as it's so cheap. 25k for a complete car that you can use for parts.
They also had a double din radio cover which is also super rare. Probably second to the OEM bumper with fog lights.

Its funny how different it sounds to the Cape Town 20v's... don't get me wrong, it DOES sound like a 20V but not like in Cape Town. I might be gesyp but it sounds more stressed than down here...?
We way above sea level so the engine doesn’t have all the air it requires! Bring it down to see level will feel like he added a turbo 😂

They have built plenty rally cars with that swap so it should be great.
Yes, weight is always a factor...but so is the suspension, braking and grip.

Nah bru, its a track car, the look goes alot towards the 90s Satcar styling. Im not a FnF fan but i reckon this looks damn nice. Im not a huge fan of the specific wing but it still fits the rest of the setup
And to add to that. Im sure he didnt build the car for other people, he built it for himself and to what he likes.

track car with no roll cage, guessing not track racing?
Class limitations unfortunately...
We're allowed a half cage, which is something we're busy with currently.
A full cage would put us in race class, with cars with no power restrictions...which we honestly would stand no chance in this class with some cars here doing almost 400wkw.
Quite a few things were changed for the shoot...eg, car has a fixed race seat and 4 pt harness which I had to change out for Niyaaz to be able to adjust the seat to drive the car. Also has full a flat underbody, etc.

Yeah, it hasn't been about power. It was about pushing the limits of the car in every other area to improve it, and last will be to upgrade the power. Fwiw, it is as fast as some pretty decently sorted boosted hot hatches. Sometimes faster, depending on the track.
Kimesh Naidoo I understand its a track car and u focused on the handling ,looks well balanced but are you on standard ecu? Are those the kinda kw standard 20v produce up there
Brotherhood TV Larry G...up here, its slightly above a 20v with the basic branch and exhaust in terms of peak power and torque. It does have a lot more in the midrange though. It runs a Powermods ecu, tuned by Autotrix in Durban.
