Thanks Joe, I was wondering how I could get my hake to shape up. I was thinking of sanding it into shape, but your suggestions worked like a charm. You seem like you might be a Jersey Boy. I am. I'm coming back to watercolor medium after 20 years of digital painting. I find it a bit intimidating, especially when I look at my old watercolors. The thing about the digital painting (Rebbele 7) is that you can back up and redo...no such thing with actual media. That plus, I'm in my early 80's...but I'm "do'n good" as we used to say in Jersey.
Hi Joe! This very doubt got me to the video. I managed to get my hands on Silver Atelier Hake and was wondering whether it was a bad brush because it would look bushy. Also their smallest brush is 30mm. Is that a good enough substitute for 1"? I paint on A4 and my first experience? This is one tall / big brush. :))

I am a beginner I just bought a few hake brushes different sizes I have not even put one in water so your Vedic inspired me I never knew you could do so much and I love how you made your rocks thanks
Hi Donna. I don’t really do anything. If it’s a full sized card I cut them in half. If the plastic isn’t smooth I might uv it against some paper or something to smooth it out.
a old sign writers tip for keeping chiselled edge brushes in good condition is when you have cleaned your brush and its still wet shape the brush and then wrap paper round it and leave it till the brush is dry, thanks for the video

I was really watching you do the rocks this time. every time I have done rocks the paint is pretty wet. I noticed you did it with dry paint, and btw you are really good at the rocks. What do you think is the best for doing them, in terms of wet and dry, damp paint.
Glad it helped! The best way is when the paint is about half dry, dark and rich. Also the paper makes a big difference. Paper with more grain or tooth is better.

I’m sure you can make it work but I prefer the RR hake
