Kino I began Yoga over 22 years ago. Astanga 15 years. Yoga is a state of being for me. However I have always had an interest in intellectually studying the body and yogic science and philosophy. I have taught yoga for about Ten years and sports for 15. I have had world class teachers along my journey. I really want to personally acknowledge to you the MAGNIFICENT teacher and sharer you are. Your explanations and insights into ASTANGA, well Yoga, are a blessing to the world. Thank You
She's astonishing! I love how some people underestimate her because she looks like a pretty surf chick, but she can truly kick ass in terms of ability and wisdom. I feel very privileged to be able to follow her tuition through TH-cam 😍
Kino. The brevity of your words and the way in which you express your thoughts, ideas and teachings radiates in the same way as your yoga demonstrations. Positive, engaging and thought provoking. Om 🕉 🙏
You are amazing teacher Kino! My wife overheard me listening to your talk and commented that she could see why I am so impressed by your depth as a teacher. You bring to light the essence of this ancient science with clarity & joy. Blessings ♥
Thank you so much for speaking so honest about how difficult this all was for you and about frustration and how long it takes to get better. It helps so much to hear this from you!!!!!!! I am doing Yoga for 3 years now, I also did a 200 hours YTT in India and I practice about 6 - 8 times per week! I also take a day free sometimes as I theoretically know stepping back is also important. But over the last 2 months I am trying so hard and I feel nothing happens. Even when I take a day off it is just in the expectation that tomorrow I will become better. Yesterday I even started to cry on my mat in the middle of a yoga class.. I know it is crazy. Now I finally learned how to let go which was so hard for me and which took so long. But Yoga wants me also to surrender which I am absolutely not able at the moment although I try, try, try and try. Sometimes I think maybe my body is not too bad and if I just could surrender I would step 3 steps further! But I am stuck.. So hearing your talk gave me some warmness and a little bit of hope again! Thank you from my heart.
Excellent talk. Especially the portion about handling stress. Intensifying the stress too learn how to cope with it in a controlled environment. So when it happens somewhere else it is not so rattling to the psyche.
You certainly bring light to what it's all about. And I am greatful there is a modern soul with ancient wisdom to share the practice in a manner comprehendible to today's yogi. You are a credit to the Astanga vinyasa method and a credit to Pattabhi.
Love this, Kino! I loved hearing about you learning headstand! It took me nearly the same amount of time and of course, I felt so frustrated by not being able to do it when I felt like everyone around me had such an easy time getting into the posture. I love how you imply that yoga teaches you lessons through humbling you. :) Thank you for this talk!
Wonderful Talk, thank you. Kino. I wish I knew you were coming to west coast! I would have taken off work and tried to get into your workshop! Extremely insightful comments about what Ashtanga yoga is about.
Hi Kino. I'm a big fan of yours. Currently, I'm reading your book "The Power of Ashtanga Yoga". Thank you for being such an inspiration and influence to my devotion to yoga. The more I learn about ashtanga, the more I realize that it is the practice for me, my yoga path. However recently, a teacher from a yoga retreat that I attended told me that ashtanga is not an ideal practice for people with scoliosis (a condition I found I have had since I was in college). I fear that what he said may be true and may worsen my condition. But much more than that, I fear being uprooted from the practice which I've felt so connected with. I hope that you could give me some advice given your deep understanding and knowledge about ashtanga. Thank you in advance.
i'm currently struggling with headstand. when i'm at a wall, i have no problem with it. without the wall, i can't seem to get up nor balance properly. thanks a lot for the advice. i've been practicing for only 4 months, so i really have a loooong way to go. =)
yes, i will. it's great watching your videos and learning more from you. i hope i can take classes at your studio someday and continue to learn more. =)
hey. you have a great channel, thanks for all your free girlie videos. is that right to say ;) This video was in my watch later album and I want to comment. So, I was thinking. No, actually it's too hard. And I might not even be right. It had to do with looking and replacing and a deeper understanding of it.
