Niagara Wine Festival - St. Catharines, Ontario

If you haven't heard of it I am surprised! In it's 60th year the Niagara Wine festival is one of the premier wine festivals in the country and with good reason. Anytime you get thousands of people gathered together to eat, drink and be merry then you know you're on to something very special.
Every September when the days are long, the weather is warm and the wine is at it's best the Niagara Wine Festival takes place. These days the hub of the festival can be found in historic Montebello Park in downtown St. Catharines. With more than a than 100 events including winery tours and tastings, concerts, Niagara cuisine, wine seminars, live entertainment and one of Canada's largest street parades the Niagara Wine Festival has a little something for everyone.
The GCAT team's intentions when we arrived were to film the segment and then immediately head back to the hotel for a much needed nights sleep. But after filming and packing up our gear we had become swept up in the festive mood and couldn't think of leaving before sampling some Niagara wines and some local food. Two hours later we were still on the festival grounds enjoying the live music, eating, drinking and meeting many new friends who had travelled from far and wide to enjoy the festivities. We couldn't help ourselves we were having just too much fun to leave!
The Niagara Wine Festival is a fantastic event. Growing bigger every year the festival has become a highlight on many people's summer social calendars. Next summer, if you are searching for a fabulous trip, than head to the gorgeous Niagara Region and attend the Niagara Wine Festival. If it were my guess I would say it wouldn't be the last time you'll ever attend! Like the GCAT crew, you'll just get caught up in all the fun!
