  • Ronaldo and his close friend Pepe both set a record in the 2-1 win against the Czech Republic in the group stage of EURO 2024.
By starting against the Czech Republic, Cristiano Ronaldo became the first player in history to participate in 6 EURO tournaments. Since 2004 until now, Ronaldo has continuously appeared in Portugal's squad.
Not only Ronaldo, his close friend, Pepe, also set a record, being the oldest player to play at a EURO. Pepe appeared against the Czech Republic at the age of 41 years, 113 days, surpassing the previous record of Hungarian goalkeeper Gabor Kiraly at 40 years, 86 days. Ranked 3rd is Cristiano Ronaldo with 39 years, 134 days.
On the record-setting day, Ronaldo played hard but could not score. He wasted two opportunities in the first half, and once hit the post in the second half.
Portugal was behind, but still beat the Czech Republic 2-1 thanks to Hranac's own goal, and Conceicao's goal in the 90+2 minute.
