    You belted that one out of the park. No flailing around. Mowed it over. 😁 cool video Ed.

    It's always a plus when you schedule maintenance instead of your machinery scheduling it for you
    if you know what I mean. Thanks Ed!

    Easy peasy! Since you bought yours used I assume it didn’t come with a manual; my flail mower manual tells me to grease all those fittings every 10 hours of use. When I complete this, it takes 1 squeeze and runs like a Swiss watch! It’s just about time for me to sharpen my “Y” blades again…maintenance never ends😅

    Great video. Ed looks like you could put a bit more tension on the tension pulley. It looked a little loose when you fried it up, and at least you saved yourself from a future breakdown 😎

    We have found that with older equipment you always seem to be chasing problems. It is not possible with everything but we do try to replace all the service parts on a machine as you will probably find bearing or bushings is the next thing. Great job on replacing the belts and I think that non toothed belts is the way to go for that use, in my view

      Thats true. And although my tractor is pretty new (2019), things start happening and breaking down.

    Hey Ed, you were actually "Blessed" to have the Last "rinky-dinky" drive-shaft ( pto-shaft) FALL OFF. ( just happened to find yer shaft that you just got @ 400$ fer 200$ at the TSC competitors yesterday)! Your "Heath&Safty" were Surly worth the 400$ anyhow. Thank you Sir for the Excelent "monkey-wrenching" vidio .Best wishes with all your endeavours.

      @@donaldstrishock3923 TSC has quality stuff but they are considerably higher than any other chain. My favorite is Rural King but I know they are only in the Midwest.

The TSC is my last resort/ their "Prices" have gotten too big fer their britches.- hardly ANY "Deals" fer the last 3.5 YEARS! wonder-why?

    Thanks for the video, One thing I've realized over time is to use OEM Belts. There's a reason those belts are cogged and most likley twice the money. Watching the video where the belts are moving, they don't look like they fit right. Good luck but I'd buy a set of cogged belts.

    Twenty-five per belt doesn't seem too bad. The big savings was not paying labor. That would have been another hundred or more for what was really a pretty easy job. Plus the hassle of hauling it in to the dealer and going back for it another day. Definitely a DIY job.

    I bet those belts had never been changed. I feel like if you have equipment you almost have to figure out how to fix some things yourself because otherwise the repair bills are way too big. It would cost me $450 just to get my tractor picked up, brought to the dealer for service, and returned. That’s before they do anything to it! It has to be way out of my league to resort to stomaching that bill… it’s unfortunate, but that’s where things are today. Expensive.

    • @MyClutteredGarage
      @MyClutteredGarage  12 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I agree that they are likely the original belts. The belt on my riding tractor mower deck was a lot more difficult to change!

    Is that a 5 have foot or a 6 foot wide mower? I'm asking lots of implement size vs PTO HP questions trying to understand if and implement is rated 20-50 PTO HP how well does it work at 20 vs 25 PTO HP (for example). That looks like a big mower (high PTO HP requirement) yet in your videos your tractor doesn't seem to have any issues powering it.

    • @MyClutteredGarage
      @MyClutteredGarage  12 วันที่ผ่านมา

      It’s a 60 inch mower. It works very well but does bog down in tall grass. You just can’t go wrong with more horsepower!

    There used to be a TSC in my town. I knew the manager. He always tried to get me to come in saying "we'll price match Rural King." My reply was you want me to go to RK to price the item, come to your store to see if you have the same item, argue with your employees if you aren't there, buy the item at the same price as RK or possibly return to RK to buy it if you don't have the same brand, have it in stock, or just won't match it? Why wouldn't I just buy it while I'm at RK the first time and get back to work? That's what I was doing of course since that didn't waste another hour of my day. That store is now closed and the guy was selling cars last I heard.

    • @MyClutteredGarage
      @MyClutteredGarage  12 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      I’m happy to have a TSC nearby but wish I had options. The nearest RK is 2 1/2 hours away. Dealers or online are my only other options. 🫤

    Could the pulleys be swapped so the drum spins at the necessary speed at a reduce PTO speed?

    • @MyClutteredGarage
      @MyClutteredGarage  12 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Possibly, but my little tractor needs the RPMs to make the needed HP.

      @@MyClutteredGarage true. Recently I purchased a 2 meter wide flail mower. It’s Italian and a brand I’m not too familiar with but it looks good. It’s a Vigolo branded machine. I’ll read the manual and see if swapping pulleys can be done. I hope so and hope the tractor can drive it with less leverage. If not that will be okay.
      I worked out if I ever buy an Italian tractor with a reversible seat/console I’ll be able to flip the gearbox and three point hitches to reverse the mower and then mow out the front. I doubt I’ll buy one though. When we were in the market for a tractor we settled on a Kubota MX5200 for $45k with a loader & 4 in 1 bucket. I think an Antonio Carraro tractor sans bucket but with 60HP was around $20k more. They are beautiful machines though they are difficult to work on if something goes wrong.
