The "dive from the 5" gave us SD Charger fans a story to tell for years to come.

Leaped from the 4, went approximately 3 yeards into the end zone.
That was approximately a 6 1/2 yeard leap.
I searched out this video because I remember seeing it back in the day. Impressive still to this day.

This play made me a football/San Diego Chargers fan for life‼️ I was 6 years old

San Diego ALWAYS had SPECTACULAR Offensive Players : Gary , Chuck Muncie , Kellen Winslow , John Jefferson , Wes Chandler , Lionel 'Little-Train' James , Charlie Joiner ... etc ... Back then i was born & raised on THE STEEL CURTAIN ... But this was the team that scared me the most ! ... With all the raw natural talent they ALWAYS HAD , it's Shocking they NEVER won any SB'S ? ! ... They should have their own section of The Hall Of Fame ... As time passes by you forget how Great some of these Older Players were ! ... OUTSTANDING POST My Man 👊 , Thanks for the trip down Memory Lane ! ...

The "Air Coryell" Offense scored so fast the Chargers Defense was on its heels trying to keep pace.

I still remember the classic 1979 destruction of the Steelers 35-7! It was the loudest sustained crowd noise I have ever heard and I went to hundreds of Charger games from 1967 to 1992 at Loge Section 36 row 16 seats 5 and 6! Go Chargers!!

@dakotalovett2450 ... Yeah , i remember that game 😱 ... That was STILL in the middle of The STEEL CURTAIN'S DYNASTY ... that was the game that let me know how DANGEROUS a team they were ! ... They were ALWAYS LOADED , SCARRY TEAM ! ... During those years , they kept trying to promote houston w/earl campbell , as Pitts Biggest THREAT ... l was more worried about Air-Coryell ... lt's still to this day MINDBOGGLING how they never won a SB , Makes No Sense 🤷‍♂️🤔 ... Great Flashback , bro 👊 ...

@dakotalovett2450 ... & their defense was just as lethal ... 'Hands' johnson , willie buchanon , woody lowe , fred dean ... They were a DANGEROUS SCARRY TEAM ! ...

Gary was a stud on the Tampa Bay Bandits of the USFL for several years. Then When the USFL stopped in the spring of 1986, Gary went and joined the San Diego Chargers. This highlight against the Dolphins is from week 1 1986, Garys first game in a Charger uniform. I was watched this game live TV from Orlando. This is one of the greatest NFL highlights I have ever seen. What a great first impression lol for the fans of San Diego.

I remember that play like it was yesterday. Anderson was so athletic. That was best TD I’ve ever seen. I was so happy when he came to the Chargers. I was upset when left and went to the Buccaneers.⚡️

I was there; an amazing play that still seems hard to believe! This was not Anderson’s first Charger game however; he appeared in a few 1985 games-one of which was the classic Charger OT win against the Raiders featuring Lionel James!😀😀

I had the picture from SI on my wall for years, it looked like he had jets coming out of his feet from the line markers

Anderson was awesome at U Of Arkansas in early '80's. I was at the U of A for the same time Anderson was. Joy watching him play for us.

What a leap! This was one of the most replayed highlights of the NFL from the 80s. Maybe just behind the Miami/Jets “spinarama” play when who was it Nat Moore I think was spun around 360 in mid air after getting hit by 2 Jets defenders.

A great athlete! To bad his career was cut short.

I remember when he was with the Tamba Bay Bandits going up the middle and blowing by everyone . He also briefly worked at the Post Office I worked at. As a Razorback fan I'm sorry to say It took me a while to realize who he was because he looked so young.

That was Superman, and San Diego had some super teams, they just did not want to pay their Black Superstars, John J.,

Klein didn’t pay ANY of his superstars; he later switched to owning horses. They didn’t complain about their contracts!
