in the vid you wonder why there is water flowing. there was rainwater in the drainage ditch because the ground was already saturated from recent rain. none of the new rain could soak into the ground :)
I discovered your channel with this whole build and holy hell I am super impressed! I wish I could still skate. I had to quit a few years ago cause my body was giving out and I was spending everyday in pain, this was when I was in my early 20s. Now I'm 29 and Ive been diagnosed with Ankylosing Spondylitis. Turns out all throught my youth, I was skateboarding with a genetic disease, that inflammimates my spinal areas and all I did all aggrevate it 100x, but I do not regret skateboarding. I am still heavily passionate about the sport, the scene, it all. Skateboarding lead me to many great places and people. I still look at my Enjoi setup (R.I.P Ben Raemers

The Water makes the spot so special!!! Just like a Surfer waiting for the good Waves, and then have a blast!!!! Thanks Zack!!!! Building the community !!!
Greetings from Brazil! I'm gonna make a mini ramp on my yard! I wish we have here so many tools and products! But it's gonna work! Thank you for teaching how to do it my self!

Not wrong about being safe. But working in construction and having to deal with AQMD/EPA silicosis testing...you get more exposure sitting at the beach for an hour than you do working with concrete mixes for 3 months straight

Looking good! 🤘 edit: 28:44 - maybe adding a little angled lead-in on the side the water flows from would make it last longer and be easier than knocking out the back
Great job man! looks smooth, we used to have an obstacle just like this at my local park and it was my favourite part of it before they modified it a couple years back, love those transition grinds into the straight drop off and also popping into it like a ledge into crooks and 5.0s to fakie, man i miss that spot it was the most fun T-T
Been enjoying the videos. A cheap buy but so needed in DIY, is a chip brush. It will help apply your adhesive and bonding agent and also help clean your tools at the end of a job. Also using the mixing tray as your cleaning tray makes another tool multi use. Great work, now I need to get out and build!
i find it insane you just leave the stuff there when its flooding so much. at least put the crete on the ramp. rad videos, so awesome seeing someone do this, i feel inspired for some reason I also feel like this park will show up in a video game lol
it is a positive message. if you want something, get it. life is that simple. put in work and get that goal. you prove that time and again in these vids. definitely an inspiration. diy or die.
Bro that’s sick ! Cool video. You should look into a grout bag , would help with your clean lines !! Would probably save you time , look better , and can limit the amount of excess material!
Hopefully this makes it in to some good skate parts. Would love to see it pop up here and there over the next few decades hahahaha. Great work dude. Shame mother nature didn't cooperate too much.
A good tip that I learned from doing concrete school is if you have paper towels or something smooth wet it down and use it over the concrete and then it'll smooth out the concrete
@@ZackDowdy The Kingdom of God is at Hand John 3:16 King James Version 16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
Oi man I’ve found that instead of sweeping spots you can use a blower. I’ve got this battery powered electric makita blower. It’s awesome for blasting the floor around a spot or for clearing dust from rub bricking
when it rains you should put your cement on the top of quarter pipe so it doesn’t get flooded. Have you thought about rendering the sides to close it up?
How do I fix the broken concrete at my local skatepark? I'll take some videos today and link something. The smooth top layer is broken off all over the place. I'm cool with the Parks guy. I help him shovel the snow out.
I'm seeing a lot of concrete but not a lot of reinforcement, wouldn't you want to put some rebar in the concrete to prevent fracturing? wouldn't cost a lot more. maybe I missed where you reinforced. Just recommend looking into some construction engineering principles and make sure you're using your product correctly. DIY doesn't mean hasty :3
if you do concrete work like this...make the surface wet...with water,so the fresh concret get better connection so surface below and above.. after the surface is dry by 90 percent...take a soft big brush and lil bit water and wash the surface lightly... then its gettin more fine...if i was there i could do it look way more better...i am painter and craftsman for construcktionsites....such work is🤣🤫🤗🥱easy

Damn Zack someone Else hit it with a Skateboard before U....Not Cool....

As a refugee from the time before municpal skate parks, this DIY spot warms my heart.
add a broom holder as a final touch "keep it clean, keep it skate-able"
31:48 dude walks by in background .. nice work great to see the diy coming together
Was about to say the same. Dude looks kinda sus.
Sketchy ass dude in the back. Doesn't even have a board. Be aware of your surroundings

Please start wearing an N95 when you’re rub bricking/working with concrete! Silicosis is no joke, homie! Keep up the dope videos as always ❤
Yes for reals …. 😅
Silicosis is a problem related to occupational exposure. A few concrete projects throughout your life do not put you at serious risk.
@@mattc1012since the pandemic, there are quite a few N95 “Professionals” out there saving the planet one mask at a time. 😂

Sweet build Dowdy! All the hard work looks like it is paying off 🥳🍻
as someone who mixes mud for a living id suggest getting a small ho. works well with a small mudbox ur using to mix in
Love your channel bro. Keep up the hard work
That's beautiful, nice to see that you have a line thought out and can work the whole spot at once. Super inspiring!
It's fun with more obstacles now!
