GPS follow is very good, I like it so much! But image follow is said to be the drone's position is not moving, so you will lose the target after moving.
This drone has what I call 'string type' follow-me. It only follows from behind where I can't see it. I much prefer 'compass type' where I can have it follow anywhere I want and take over control when needed. Then of course a homepoint update option is essential since I'm no longer there where it took off. The image follow is tripod mode. Which is a nice feature actually to have it hover and pan the camera while you're moving past. What is doesn't have is active-track like DJI. For that to work you need good cameras and a huge amount of programming. And probably obstacle avoidance sensors as it is doing 'its own thing'.
Active-track is optical. And the optical tracking on this SJRC F22 drone (because that's what it is) is actually tripod mode. Follow-me is GPS. You don't need obstacle avoidance if it is the right type of follow-me. What I call 'compass type' so it will stay north south east west of you. Which means you can have it fly in view and watch what it is doing. Unfortunately this drone has 'string type' follow-me and only follows from behind. Which is kinda strange as the F11 also made by SJRC had compass type. This said, the apps lacks a homepoint update option so the follow-me isn't really usable in real life. Ah well. The Ruko Veeniix price is ridiculous anyhow. Only noobs buy from Amazon.
Correct, we found out that image follow only identifies people within about 3m-10m, then the drone slowly rotates in place without moving. Kind of pointless. After uploading the video, we did try the SJRC app with this drone set to the F22 model, and it unlocked some additional flight modes like Far Fly, Sky Fly, and Spiral Fly that don't seem to be present in the Veeniix/Ruko branded version. Definitely agree on the Veeniix price tag being a bit much.
