May 2024 Backyard Garden Tour!

Welcome to my backyard garden oasis! I have over 40 different types of plants dotted throughout the various gardens in my backyard, they very much feel like a cottage garden! There are also many container gardens on my patio to add to it's appeal! We have unique challenges here in North Texas, so I am always experimenting on different types of plants that can take our crazy double digit summers as well as the crazy dips in temperatures we get in the winter!! Now that it's May and late spring for us, many spring bloomers are coming to the end of their blooms and many of the summer bloomers are starting to put on a show!

You might want to try putting some copper tape on your hosta containers to thwart them before the get to the top

I love your garden 😍 I have a solar power hummingbird one and really loved it. Unfortunately, high winds took off 3 of the birds.

Hi Shannon your garden looks amazing! Question, I have a Brazilian rock rose and it has had a bunch of buds on it for a few weeks so I’ve been waiting for it to bloom. But guess what? They opened and the buds are full of seeds only! I feel like I want to just dig it up before it drops more seeds everywhere. Have you ever seen a flowering plant go directly to seed? It’s weird!

Oh my goodness Marlene!! I've never seen a plant go straight to seed! Maybe they were seed pods? But then they would have needed to flower before they formed seed pods! I wonder if that's something specific to Brazilian Rock Rose. Thank you so much for watching and for your kind words! Always appreciate you!!
