My fav Ruth year. 1921: 59 HR (full teams didn't hit that many), 168 RBI. .378 AVG. .846 slugging and even 16 triples. And only a few years before, he was one of the best pitchers in the game. Amazing.
Imagine how unstoppable Ruth would've been if he actually worked out and took care of himself. He is still the greatest home run hitter who ever lived. He hit 50 plus homers in a season multiple times and hit 60 in 1927. Ruth hit more home runs in a season than entire teams did. The guy was unbelievable

Who's the Babe Ruth of Football, Basketball, Hockey? Football - Jim Brown Basketball - Michael Jordan Hockey - Wayne Gretzky Only Gretzky and Jerry Rice have established All-time records that were "Ruthian".
Babe Ruth may be the most powerful HR hitter of all times. His torque on the swing , and the speed of his swing are unsurpassed to this day. Remember -- He hit 54 HR. in parks where the deep parts were 450+ ft to fence with a soft core, "dead" ball in 1920. The game didn't harden the cores of the balls until after 1921-22 at least. That means, his 54 and 59 HR seasons were done with 400+ft distances on average with old, ash bats, and hitting squeeze toy balls. That's power!! I guarantee you that if you gave MR. Steroid head Barry Bonds, or Marc Migwire the same equipment and made them hit the same soft core dead ball that you could squeeze and compress in your hands, they wouldn't be able to hit it 500ft. oh, and BTW, the pitchers could doctor the ball too.
Could anyone else ever hit for both power AND average like the Babe did? Most of the players who achieved batting averages like his were spray hitters, singles hitters, etc. A .342 career BA? Most players consider it a career year if they get there once. He was hitting .355 - .375 when he was breaking all those home run records.
He's the first and the perhaps the last sport super star.. All other sports stars with their managers marketing teams have just tried to emulate him & others sporting club tried what NY Yankees did in 1920's.. But it's impossible to create another one because for that you have to re-create the 1920's economic boooooom first..
Are the clips of the kids playing ball actually Babe or just random kids? I'm asking because I'm making a collage to put on canvas for my 6yr old Grandman. Babe Ruth has always been his hero and we are decorating his room in everything Babe Ruth, well Santa is, even adding a locker and bench. It would be awesome to add childhood pictures too. We have been baseball fans for many generations!!
Hank Aaron was a great player and a class act but he had almost twice as many at-bats as Ruth. And he never pitched. Don't even consider the baseball players from the 1980"s and more recently due to PED's. Home runs were certainly a part of baseball before Ruth but he turned the homer into the ultimate offensive weapon and the Yankees into baseball's most valuable franchise. He towered above his peers.
Blacques Jacques Peers like Ty Cobb, Honus Wagner, Walter Johnson, George Sisler, etc. These guys hit for huge BA's but not homers until Ruth came along. And Ruth's style wasn't necessarily intentional, he was just a big strong guy with a good eye and strong upper body.
Quit embarrassing yourself Newer ... google a fact to be true before you quote it. Aaron did not have twice as many at bats as Ruth. At-bats Babe Ruth - 8,399 Hank Aaron - 12,364 Plate Appearances Babe Ruth - 10,622 Hank Aaron - 13,941 The rest of your agrument goes out the window when you start your post with such an incorrect statement. You told us everything we needed to know about your knowledge.
Drag your index finger under my words as you sound them out, Jimmy. I said ALMOST twice as many at-bats. If you cipher out how many home runs per at-bat each had, you would see that Ruth would have had 1051 career home runs if he had as many at-bats as Aaron. Plus, Ruth's career BA was .342 while Aaron's was .305, not to mention Slugging % and OPS (both are career records that still stand), pitching ERA, World Series rings, changing the game, etc. No disrespect against Hammerin' Hank, but the Babe reigns supreme!!
Taking nothing away from a legend and King of his time, but I wonder how fast those guys were pitching in those days? Was The Babe hitting against pitchers throwing high 90s, low 100s? Or was he leagues above men who could only throw in high 70s/80s?
Everyone talks about how the Babe could drink -- I've never heard or read anything about this, but I'm convinced he must have smoked his share of reefer, too. He hung out with jazz musicians, theater people, all those hard-partying types (today we'd call them "bohemiams"), and "muggles", as they called it then, was very popular in those circles. It would be impossible to believe that he was never somewhere where it was being smoked. And let's face it -- did the Babe ever say "No" to temptation or a good time???
Personally ANDRE the GIANT was the greatest drinker of all time. But babe was probably one of the best. ANDRE drank 20 bottles of wine in one sitting! He drank 156 bottles of beer! Both are legends!
I have accidentally deleted one of your comments! If you would like let me know if it was yours and please recomment! My apologies!

Hate when people say Derek jeter is better but jeter only has 240 career hr and babe has over 700 he is the goat still today🤷♂️
I have never, ever, heard anyone say Derek Jeter was a better baseball player than Ruth. Ever. Until your comment. That's beyond foolish talk.
Jeter has over 3,000 hits to though
I think it’s a product of the time. Don’t get me wrong jeter was great. The babe though was definitely the best!
Aaron and Bons only played because they wanted to break a record, BUT Ruth played for fun.
Where'd you get that ridiculousness from?
He towered above his peers.
newerafrican Seriously though ... What peers ?
Blacques Jacques Peers like Ty Cobb, Honus Wagner, Walter Johnson, George Sisler, etc. These guys hit for huge BA's but not homers until Ruth came along. And Ruth's style wasn't necessarily intentional, he was just a big strong guy with a good eye and strong upper body.
Quit embarrassing yourself Newer ... google a fact to be true before you quote it. Aaron did not have twice as many at bats as Ruth.
At-bats
Babe Ruth - 8,399
Hank Aaron - 12,364
Plate Appearances
Babe Ruth - 10,622
Hank Aaron - 13,941
The rest of your agrument goes out the window when you start your post with such an incorrect statement.
Where I come from twice is two times = 200%. And where I come from from I don't argue with a fool.
Taking nothing away from a legend and King of his time, but I wonder how fast those guys were pitching in those days? Was The Babe hitting against pitchers throwing high 90s, low 100s? Or was he leagues above men who could only throw in high 70s/80s?
she wasnt even alive when he was but u swear she was the way she gets on
Yeah she’s basing all of it based on legend
Do you mean the granddaughter? I give her a pass, it's her grandfather, and she is proud and likely knows very much about his life and legacy. :)
Babe-# ☝️🐐
My favorite ball player of all time!
Long shall we seek his likeness...Long in vain.
He is a legend
Top 5 all time:1)Ruth 2)Cobb 3)Gehrig 4)Hornsby 5)Williams
