This actually looks fair to a point....How far we've come from being stun locked and killed in the first area by yellow lizards, dirt moles and purple bats.

@@F41thF4n Easily the most annoying enemy in spelunky 2 😭 me and my friend play co-op spelunky 2 regularly, and we have made it a tradition to throw at least 1 ground mole into the spike pit every run 😂 A tradition fueled solely by our hatred of those things

What I really love about classic is how special the city of gold is. In HD it just feels like a reskinned temple level.
Strat Man and also no ghost in this version which gives you the chance to blow it up
I see what you're saying, but I feel like the city of gold is moreso a reskin in the original cause of the same music being used, whereas in HD it has that sexy ass soundtrack. Also EVERY block is gold, including the traps.
Maybe I'm too rusty on both games, but I thought the Hedjet got rid of the ghost in both versions.
It doesn't do that in the remake, my guess is that so players can continue ghosting after getting the Hedjet if they want.
The actual reason why it feels so special is because in HD the city of gold is just a quick stop towards Hell. In Classic, the City of Gold is the ultimate goal.
That music brings back memories, I used to play this years ago in computer science with my buddies, now Spelunky 2 is out. Crazy

I did play with keyboard out of habit, which I'm likely to keep when playing this version.
Also, there's no anubis in this version friend, only his mummy I guess, which is who you get the scepter from.

This game is dope! I finished every version of Spelunky. Classic is very nostalgic. I need to return to this game and play it again. Retro games have something unique in themselves.

I've been with the Classic for so long, so I like it better than HD.
S2 has been quite amazing, so I like it better than HD.
S2 has a lot of content (I'm yet to discover) and some new dynamics, so it might become my favourite, with Classic after it and HD last.
Really cool to look back on the original. Hope you enjoy the sequel.

Didnt notice this video was 7 years old, im currently playing this original version and its so cool. I guess it has some things that make it easier than the remake but still a real challenge

I played daily for some time, got some ok results and some old videos here in the channel.
I'm confused. Is this game just buggy or was there intention in some of the mechanics I just witnessed. In the beginning level after you rescue the damsel she doesn't give you extra health for the next level. Then at 36:00 when you come out after getting the scepter from the previous level. It's just gone, was it too OP?
At 2:22 I go full idiot mode and fall on my face, losing one health.
At 36:50 you can see me entering the door to the City of Gold. The coincidence is that the entrance to CoG was on top of the level entrance, so it ate the scepter as soon as the level began. I had to just move on into CoG to be on the safe side lol
I dunno man, sacrificing innocent people to the god Kali seems like a crime to me.
As long as you don't chase me with a shotgun, I'm ok with that opinion.

How did you just get into the City of Gold without a scepter at 36:51?
I had the Scepter at 35:40, but weirdly enough, the door was exactly on top of the level entrance, so the Scepter was used immediately.
It was a bummer, it left me unarmed to explore the level before choosing to open the door to the City of Gold.

+*FIRExGAMING* ehh, he's okay. He doesn't have a whole lot of flow, and there's a lot of simple mistakes he made. If he was really going for a high score, he'd be ghosting every gem as soon as he had the udjat eye. He bought the glasses when he didn't need them, and there was especially no reason not to ghost once he had the jetpack. Getting bombs from Kali's favor isn't too much trouble once you have a good setup, so he should've used as many as possible before sacrificing the final yetis. He essentially wasted 54 bombs.

Maybe because it's something new instead of a remake, so S2 is its own game.

You're right, it must be somewhat rare, but the golden door was right on top of the entrance door and it even ate the Scepter automatically!
