  • Conversation with Tara Brach and Dan Siegel: Part I - IntraConnected [2022-12-14]
In this conversation, Tara interviews Dan about the themes in his new book, "IntraConnected." They explore how our identity gets formed, and the profound healing and freedom that come with widening our sense of identity from me to what Dan terms "Mwe" (me plus we.) The principles they touch on come from indigenous wisdom, the contemplative or wisdom traditions, neuroscience and quantum physics.

This is what Thich Nhat Hahn has been teaching for long time and he coined the term "interbeing". I recommend his teachings for all of us on the path. 🙏🙏

Yes - I totally agree with you! I too thought of the word "interbeing" which I think is so beautiful. Thich Nhat Hahn is/was one of the most wonderful Buddhist teachers. Such a loving and caring Zen monk. He inspires me the most.

I am 15 minutes into this talk and I have a huge smile on my face. The respect and love between you and Dan, your appreciation of him (and him of you), and his articulate, excited and utterly spellbinding accounts of his experiences, peppered with a healthy dose of intelligent, scientific clear sightedness, is what I call 'inspiration'. Thank you so much for this beautiful experience....I will definitely be buying his book (I already have four of his!)...

I have been co-dreaming of this talk in the last two weeks. I have been listening to Dan Siegel's The Whole Brain Child to raise my children. PTSD parent here who does not here the tools but some set of spiritual contemplative guidance.

Loving this conversation and aligning with the progression of thought. I believe we cannot separate science from spirituality. There is interconnectedness as science in its truest sense attempts to make sense of the seemingly unexplainable. As humans I think spirituality and science is how we seek to get closer to understanding who we really are and the Source of who we are. That search is what connects all of us, no matter who we are and what our beliefs are. I'm a Christian so I believe that Source is God who designed the most complex system in existence - the human being. Blessings 🙏 🤲

This brings together so many threads that I have been following, amid confusion, and now it's clear. I'm fascinated to continue exploring the simultaneous coexistence of the newtonian world in which we play, and the formless field of energy, consciousness and possibility that is our fundamental essence. I was at an inspiring symphony concert tonight and was vividly aware of the wonderful sensual experience of the music, and at the same time, enriched by awareness that the vortex of energy created by the musicians in the newtonian realm was shared with the intraconnected realm of energy and possibility that we all share.

This conversation was like a whole epiphany. The knowledge that Dr. Daniel has developed is magnificent and has given me a stronger foundation in my work as a therapist. It is a delight to hear and read his perspective on consciousness and the human mind, which he expresses with admirable creativity, compassion and authenticity. MWe are so fortunate for his serene presence and brilliant ideas.
Thank you Tara and Dr. Dan. To everyone, I wish you love and prosperity for you and your families 🎄🥰♥🙏🏼

this concept was first explored and researched by a physicist named Karen Barad circa 2007 when she coined the term intra-action which is the same thing as intra-connection. hope he gives her some credit for her work.
