  • Los Angeles has rental electric bikes available at the metro bike rental stations now. In this video, I rent a Los Angeles metro Ebike I’ll show you how it works. If you are a tourist visiting Los Angeles, renting one of these metro electric bikes is a great way to see the beach and the city. You can rent a bike from any metro bike rental station and return it to any other station, so if you want to go from city to city, you can do that and only pay for the time you are riding the bike. The Los Angeles county metro rental Electric bike is set up with a mid drive motor and pedal assist, so the electric motor only works while you are peddling, and it gives you a little bit of assistance to make you go faster with less effort. You still have to pedal though. You can visit Los Angeles metro bike website to see current rates and also to find out where the rental stations are. Or you can download the phone app, which will tell you where the stations are so you can go there and rent an electric bike, or also rent a regular pedal bike. The electric bike costs a dollar more when you check it out, but it cost the same amount of money per hour to rent as a regular pedal bike. The only problem I had with my electric rental metro bike in Los Angeles was that the battery died after 7 miles. The rental machine will rent you a bicycle that has a dead battery, or almost dead battery, so always check the battery level before you rent an e-bike from the metro bike station. There is a link to the Los Angeles metro bike rental website, where you can see current electric bike rental prices, and also a map of all the stations in the city.

How to rent an LA Metro bike share electric bike:
    1. Look at the bikes in the rack and make sure you find a good one with air in the tires.
    2. On an electric bike, push the power button to turn it on, and check the battery level.
    3. On the kiosk, choose the plan you want. One time rental, 24 hour plan, or 30 day plan.
    4. Choose the e-bike you want.
    5. Pay with a credit card.
    6. Remove the electric bike from the rack and ride it.
    7. When you are done riding, put the bike back into the rack at any Metro bike share location and make sure it makes a sound and shows you the green light.

A bit surprised to see a Bosch system on this bike. I would have expected something that was non-branded to deter theft.

Me too. I guess it makes sense to use high-quality parts if they want it to last a long time. I have seen homeless people riding these around, so I’m sure they’re losing some money on them.

I live in Edinburgh, Scotland and yesterday for the first time ever I hired one the street bikes after having a little bit of difficulty trying to unlock the bike and with the help of a kind person passing by even she had problems trying to unlock the bike until one her friends stopped by to help and got the bike unlocked for me. We both agreed the app wasn't very helpful. But once the bike was unlocked I was able to go for a ride around Queens Park at the foot of Arthur Seat. It was a really nice sunny day. I was surprised how easy it was cycle I admit I was surprised to see how heavy the bike frame was. I enjoyed my time cycling I haven't been on a bicycle in years wel, since I was kid. After a bit of nervousness at first trying to get the feel of the bike and trying not fall or ride into anything after about 10 or 15 minutes my nerves went away and felt a bit more confident only to cycle on the foot path not on the cycleway I would've been too terrified to cycle there with cars going past me. I admit I haven't forgotten how uncomfortable the saddles are lol.
I didn't use my whole hour up I used about 50 minutes that was enough for me. The pricing for the street bikes are £1.50 for 1 hour then I think it's 10p per minute after that to hire the bike for the whole day I think it's £7 or something like that. They also have electric bikes which I didn't know about. Would I hire one of the street bikes again? Maybe in the summer when the weather is nicer and it's warmer sure I wouldn't rule it out next time though I want to try one of the electric bikes see what they are like. The city of Edinburgh is quite a hilly city so an electric bike would definitely help.

Hey there Mate, this isn't the best place for me to comment but its the place you'll probably see it first. I am currently fixing up my own Royal Enfield Bullet 500, 1999. I got a few questions about the carb, the clutch plates, and the gear issues (the US imported ones have that weird linkage to make it work on the left side). Do you think we could setup a meeting or chat to talk? Just leave a reply for a way I can contact you and I'll be sure to message ya.
    Thanks, art

You forgot to reiterate “ or u can use your cheap bike for paved, run to school- or take it to grandmas.. but not mine with my high end components.. “ 😂

Me too! I think an E bike should have a motorcycle throttle on it as well as pedal assist mode for situations like that. This one only helps you out when you’re spinning the pedals.

So when the electricity kicks in you don’t have to pedal at all?

    • @hoohoohoblin
      @hoohoohoblin  ปีที่แล้ว

You have to keep moving the pedals around so it helps you, but if you pedal slowly it does all the work.
